You remain one of my best teachers, and certainly the most fun. So grateful for people like you who bring the whole world to me on this little box in my hands. It's such a magical thing to me.
Many thanks
💀..Right On, "Ninja Grrl"..More power to ya, Angel..✨️🌻
Thank you for your hard work brother 🙏🏻
Thank you for listening
I love your gift, thank you for sharing it with me. I’m so glad I found you.

I’m trying
Another o.g. respect
@@WildWestExtravaganza Love the part Wyatt talks about guns and gunplay.
@@WildWestExtravaganza I can definitely relate to working your ass off and seeing those that don't somehow benefiting more. I call them lanterns. Not too bright and ya have to carry them. It just sucks.
Thanks
Saving this one for tomorrow for work, gonna be a good one.. I can tell!
Enjoy!
This is a wonderful compilation of photographs and Your stories Josh.
I appreciate the time and efforts You spend bringing us this information and entertainment. Thank You again.
Best Wishes to You, Your Family and Friends.
Glad you like them!
In tears on the yellow fever bit. The honest perspective mixed with the sense of humor makes this the best western history on TH-cam.
That rant about work/poverty, what can I say, brought a tear man that's my life.
Your not alone Brother
100% not alone bro. Somethings gotta give
My dad worked 12 hours a day for 25 cents a day in the 20s and 30s.
When I look at national income averages I always think it's a load of crap. Where the hell do these numbers come from. I can't be the only one living well below these numbers. Maybe I'm just one of few not lying about it
@@SlasherSociety09 the average is massively skewed by the mega earners. I bet if you drop the top 2% and knew about the uncounted the real average is something like 25k a year... where I live most people make well under 50
Great to here stories other than the most famous. Nice thanks
I'll never look at a full moon the same after learning about puha and the Comanche Moon raids.
This man never misses 🙏 entertainment for the drive into work sorted for the next few days
Ah yes, all but the one and only George Temple who was once ,"The Fastest Gun Alive".
"History stink finger" Josh, man, you are one of the few TH-camrs who has the guts to tell it like it is and I like you for it. Keep it comin'.
I’m trying!
Thanks man!!! Help get through a boring day at work
Stay safe
Looks like I finally have a proper use for my big thumbs. Only have time for about 30 min tonight but I’ll return to listening on the way to work tomorrow. Thx!
No rush!
AWESOME!! Looking forward to the show!
Im not even done with JC yet! 😂 I appreciate you working overtime my man!
My pleasure
On Rube Burrow's section...the 38-40 was based off the 44-40. Both are pretty "hot" pistol cartridges when loaded to original black powder specs.
38-40 used a 180 grain cast lead bullet, moving 1000fps out of a pistol, 1300 or more out of a carbine/rifle. This is about on par with 180 grain cast lead bullets from a .357.
44-40 used a 200 grain bullet at the same speeds or a hair faster, putting it between 44 Special and .44 Mag.
For reference, .45 Colt used a cast 250 or 255 grain bullet between 910 fps and 1000 fps, depending on the source.
The rant at 1:10:00 is the best. Explaining Rubens thought process about being broke and busting your ass. I love it
You put that down on Being a single a Father … nailed it 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Ty this wild
You sir have become my favorite you tube discovery. Started listening to a mountain man episode and I'm making my way through. The words you spoke at the end of this episode. Stirred my soul some. Keep doing what your doing and why ain't you writing books?
Thank you!
man you message at 1hour and 11 mins hits home

OmG Josh, your great bro. Thank you . I had to share this one with my 22 yr old boy. Thanks again brother.
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the bedtime content.
Cheers from the Missouri River headwaters.
Cheers!
Thanks for the new content! I always enjoy your work. God bless you brother!
Many thanks
The way you described Vernon is on point with the older guy that used to fix our bikes growing up... and i live in So-Cal lmao
Ha!
Bro, you're rambling about Vernon is GOLD! Id like to think dudes named Vernon are like that as well.👊💪😂
I love history so much and I just got a cowboy on a house as a tattoo
New to the channel this is my second video and I'm already hooked. Nice content I subscribed halfway through the first video
Welcome aboard! Thank you!
Fantastic
Thanks
Keep goshing us lol i love your sense of humor
Thanks
You should do a video on the Harpe brothers. I know thats a little bit before the old west, but they were America's first serial killers. You always do well with your research and put it together perfectly. Id love to hear your take on it, sir.
I’m hoping to
@WildWestExtravaganza well heck yeah. Your hoping to is a lot more constructive than mine lol. Look forward to hearing it man! Awesome work you do.
I WILL COTINUE EDITING THIS AS I FIND MORE. ESPECIALLY ABOUT CULLEN BAKER. I could easily find you enough info for a whole video just about him.
1:19:00 Maxwell is a great grandma's name on my mom's side. I'm gonna have to do some research now.
Mom's dad's mom:
Annie Ethel Maxwell , born 1888 Newtown MO.
Her father Thomas Putnam Maxwell born 1861 Putnam, MO.
From what I can tell, this line goes back to Scotland. Now, what I've heard from some pretty hardcore pre-Columbian contact historians, is the Scotts and a lot of the Natives had really good relations before the Brits encroaching. Scottish clan life and tribal "Indian" life coincided very well together. But that all probably started way before this story was set to take place.
1:58:00 another uncommon name which is one of my great grandma's: Bowers (Bauer).
I also have a "Smith" grandma. But I thought that was an everyman name.
2:00:00 Holy Bejeezus! I have a Kelly great grandma. Did the south occur in a vaccuum??
2:37:06 Really? My mom's great grandma was named Fannie Mae Baker, born in Illinois. 😮 John may have been her uncle.
2:49:05 Now all these surnames are on my mom's mom's side... BUT... My mom's dad did live in Arkansas from at least 1930 tp 1940, so I know they were around there at this time.
((I know all these relations cause I'm geneologist. )
2:42:13 the uncle was Thomas Young, brother of his mom Elizabeth Young. I can find out everything you want about either of them. It was specifically his daughter's Maternal grandfather that she was left with.
3:08:30 Hey. Watch what you say about my daddy, boy.... 🧐💪 He wasn't a Yankee. Oh wait. Yeah he was. And his grandpa's house was on the Bozeman trail in SD, as a stop on the underground railroad.
Somebody in my family tree was listed on some documents with the last name Moses, but another name on other documents. I always disregarded the name Moaes as a mistake. My dad's family were Quakers, descended from William Bradford. I'll have to research this one...
💀..Hey slick, my Grandfather hailed from Alabama. Attended Auburn, as well as Annapolis..To be fair, we do like your show, having personally grown up in the West..Keep up your great work..!!
Thank you!
Ummm, where’s the “yawww”
It's yeeaaww😊🤠
I have the same question
3:27:32
Yeehaww
That's it. Unsubbed lol JK
What's up Josh I always say this in my head the way you say hit in ur funny voice when ur teasing lol I'm stoned sorry
I had the privilege to work on and help preserve one of Annie's houses in the 1990's. The house is probably 1890's and still standing.
That’s pretty cool!
Another excellent job Josh!
Gracias
Josh im a uk resident so don't have A.C. or transmission its a gearbox over here lol, but you hit everything else on mark, cost of living to expensive, great channel josh glad I found you keep it real, simo from robinhood land Nottinghamshire UK...
Holy mother of our fucked up God - you are one good story teller! Love listening to you!
Thank you
Cant imagine how tough these men were!
You should do an episode on the courthouse shootout of Carroll County Virginia. I know it’s not the west but it’s got the outlaws and lawmen fighting but in the mountains of Virginia in the home of Frank Beamer the old coach of Virginia Tech
Hey Josh long time listener new subscribe great job
Thanks Dave
Now if this isn't one of the most original...once in a lifetime statements of All Time..," Giving you a little history foreplay...get things good and lubricated ..can't go in dry ....got to make out a little...PLAY A LITTLE HISTORY STINK FINGER...BRO..THATS STRAIGHT UP GENIUS LEVEL...
Please Josh do more of these kind of videos
Yes sir
You must do hours of research for these podcasts. I get a kick out of the way you present all of this information. I was cracking up at the way you described your typical Vernon. I have met a couple of these guys in my life. As for the 38-40 cartridge it a 38 caliber bullet backed up with 40 grains of black powder. It is both a rifle and a pistol cartridge. Cowboys and outlaws both liked it because they could have a Colt revolver chambered in 38-40 and a Winchester rifle chambered in the same cartridge. This solves a lot of problems. In the late 1800's Colt and Winchester had a partnership going on .
Good info, thanks!
Breakout the popcorn🎉❤
Coffee drinkers can only really handle one tea. Earl grey with the same mix of condiments that you'd use in your cup of Joe.
It's the only tea that is strong enough to replace coffee in a pinch. Strong and English. Some say dejeerling which if black sure, but two cream and one sugar tastes better in Earl grey and it can also be had black with no real strength problems.
You brought up something that got me thinking when you covered the story about Rube, that he robbed a stagecoach, not caring about the financial status of the passengers. I venture to guess that anyone who could afford to pay for a ride on a stagecoach probably was a person of some means so Rube could have assumed so much. By the way, I think Rube was pressing his luck and should have quit when he was ahead. He had already robbed enough to afford living high on the hog for the rest of his life.
As I hear you tell these stories, you impress me as being someone who would prefer living back in those days right in the middle of the action. Question: putting yourself in the shoes of a person like Brushy Roberts, which of these characters would you most like to be? Or wish you were?
My God, get a load of those Bama names...Jewel, Vernon, Moses..
nothing can compare.
Last comment about Rube: Those two African Americans who waylaid Rube sure were lucky that he didn't have the disposition of that real mean guy you covered in another video...I already forgot his name...he was the equal of "Joaquin Murietta" except to black people...you know who. Now, don't tell me you want to be him!! Lol😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Enjoy the stories as well as the presentation!
Thanks
sorry, but I can not understand your sentiment to Rube Burrow. He was a men with land to his name. Hard working or not. He had more than most people ever get a chance in their life to get.
And he murdered people in cold blood. Like the post office men and probably several police men who only wanted to keep old people and children safe from lunatics.
Easy money for sure might be the reason why he didn't continue to work.
But he was a men who had it all and it still wasn't enough. It's sad that people still sing songs about him and have forgotten the people who worked hard and got their lives cut short by Rube Burrow.
He didn't do it for fame so I don't think people should forget about him. But when telling the story of Rube Burrow, it's a story of a men who denied many people the right for a chance of pursuing their luck.
don't get me wrong. you make great videos. I love this one.
You tell these stories in detail and with emotion.
Yeah!.....WHERE'S THE "YAWWWW?".......LOL...need that!
ANOTHER FAB EPISODE!...
That 38/40was super accurate
Yellow fever here but no anime but pretty close got to go to Port Lavaca
Josh, could you do an episode of Nellie Cashman a contemporary of Doc Holiday?
Hell yes!
I think we're going to see more gunfighters& some memorable characters due to "situation" In this country
Talking about work your ass off trying to survive, is my life at the moment spent all my money on lawyers winning my 2 kids in court, now being a single dad 11 and 9 yr old is so hard , my ex sl#t wife of touring the word with my money, you touched a heart string brother 😢
I’m sorry you’re going through all of that. Just remember nothing lasts forever, you got this.
My grandparents had a farm close to Ft. LARAMIE.
Very cool
I think a shot gun shell full of dimes would have had a face value of $1 or more. To this a loader would have to add the cost of casing and primer. That would be comparable to $30 + today per shell. Sounds like Hollywood.
I have raised a family only makeing $16,000 a year
A lot of what Erpe said made sense.
Show something about Corpus Christi… lotsa history here
I agree your .. ya wee in the beginning of your videos is your calling card ...
"There's a band called Florida Georgia Line, I guess 'Titty Bars and Fireworks' was already taken " ~ Larry the cable guy.
Haha
i live 10 minutes from Vernon, Al and yes . . . it is in fact a country ass town, lol.
that said, it is not a place where you want to get caught f~ckin around in, because you will definitely find out.
My favorite John Wayne movie is the cowboys
That’s a good one!
@WildWestExtravaganza it is lol love Bruce Dern the guy is hilarious 😂
Shane Gillis..... is that you?
Hadn’t heard of him. I guess he wasn’t as notorious as his kid brother
Man id love if Wyatt really spun that yarn
Is Kevin bacon narrating....sounds like....cool as
What is the book on Wyatt Earp that this narration is in!
Two minutes after I asked……thanks anyway.
Make America great again, indeed.
4 hours?nice my night just got shorter
Side note; Albert Pike was a notable character. He was a 33 degree Mason and Lucifarian and wrote Morals and Dogma. He was quite an evil individual. And a major occultist in his time.
Hardin defeats all of them easily, besides Cullen Baker
This young man's works are worthy of a Producer and funding, to Produce his History Stories with an Accompaniment of Video, a full fledged Video Documentary.
Imagine, a Documentary with the focus on Content Facts rather than:
(Productions based on History for Entertainment Profits, written and Produced with an obvious idea that all the Public is inept and ignorant, with their "Overly Dramatic Rhetoric, Narrators, Music, and drawn out, repetitive dialogue l, lead up to a "No new Information", just a repeating of the Mainstream Academic Theory Based Narratives.)
I far prefer the History and Science Documentaries that are pre 1980, over the E and "History Channel, Media Productions for Profits" that are Common in the Cable Media's.
The old west's Pat Benetar Annie Oakley
Lol you said boarded a ferry
I love watching intelligent and historical documentaries..!! I let them play in the background while I toil away on the dumb computer... And actually think I'm getting smarter while I waste my life on this damn thing that wants to suck my time away and flush it down the toilet. Thank You for making work enjoyable again.!! FYI... Christopher 'Kit' Carson was an awful man, responsible for attacking & killing Native North Americans and promoting his idea to slaughter the 30-50 million Bison, to starve the Indigenous population into submission and worse. A terrible genocide intended to solve the "Indian Problem" by extermination of the entire race. The "Way The West Was Won" was by 'Manifest Destiny' and our Native Tribes deserve better retribution.
So people was living good and didn't need law and gov so the law and government sends people 2 create problems so that they would beg for Help then and the laws and gov moves in.
Which story are you referring to?
@@WildWestExtravaganza I speak of everything put together in his story or history ..
That’s deep bro
@@WildWestExtravaganza oh but it gets much worse
i love political social commentary with the history. its gone on forever. read the tiberius grachuss speech 133bc called fragments. starts with "the wild beasts of italy have their caves..."

I can’t stand this channels writing. It’s the worst. Tedious and predictable. “The definition of…” reminds me of every highschool speech ever.

I'd bet that 6th bullet is a fake most gun folk rode with 5 rounds or so I'm told
Sounds like the demond party
I appreciate your stories, however the fight at the OK is so old and boring , I really could care less if I ever here it again..isn't their anything else in this world to talk about
To the best of my recollection U have not yet done an episode on the gunfight at the Ok Corral other than quickly speaking about it in passing
That's pretty insulting, but if your passionate about the OK corral, good for you, but how many times have you hear it in the past 143 years.
@@user-sw5fc4vf1q wait, I’m lost…what is insulting? I’m not sure I understand what you’re saying.
In the above comment the U is a typo, that was meant to say “I” not “U”
No insults were intended
