The way I view it, it's never really been about football for Rin, but about his and Sae's personal relationship. Playing with Sae and sharing this dream with him mattered far more to Rin than becoming the best (or 2nd best) striker in the world. Even now, he plays bc he wants to reconcile with Sae, and he thinks that surpassing him is the best way to reach this goal (or at least that's how it was until the NEL). It's always been about Sae, not the sport itself. So the argument that, by destroying their relationship and pushing Rin to become a better striker, Sae only has Rin's best interest in mind, has never really made sense to me. Maybe I'm completely misunderstanding smth, but as an older sibling myself, Sae will always be a bad brother in my eyes.

I hope this goes the opposite of Naruto’s Sasuke and Itachi ending with them separating completely instead of reconnecting. Rin after hearing Sae’s words toward Yoichi could have had him going further down a villain path and if he beats sae, he might just disown him completely and go for bigger goals past beating the man who crushed his dreams.

Rin kicked the ball his first time wondering if he could become the best striker in the world.
Stop pushing the narration that Rin plays only cause of Sae, his original dream is the same as Isagi's. It got sealed like everyone else's and he will take more time to awaken it completely

Hear me out, after rereading, I believe Rin will realize that he doesn’t even want to be the best striker.
Rin only becomes a striker because Sae told him to be the best after him. Everything in Rin’s story that he wants is things Sae implanted. Rin wants to become to best striker to beat Sae, Rin is in bluelock to get stronger to beat Sae. Rin is so skilled overall that labeling him a pure striker is kinda limiting. I do think Rin will play CAM on the Japan World Cup team.
I wanted this to be isagi but he declined playing midfield already.

I use to joke about how codependency was a running trend on Blue lock. And from I have read it's almost as if Rin's whole personality is based on being Sae's little brother. He never really deviated from that and became heavily reliant on his older brother. Safe to assume Sae played in Spain to kind of put some distance thinking his brother would branch off on his own after all that time. Seeing Rin still the same, Sae had to free him. You gotta be cruel to be kind, though Sae didn't have to go that hard.

    • @rinyo-qe9fm
      @rinyo-qe9fm ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@saesnaughtyprincess oh good analysis!
I have read the light novel.
And from what I read I came to understand two things.
First, the team in which Rin and Sae played had shit players and they simply can't handle the Itoshi's talents. They required someone to fully utilize them and as we know Sae is great a midfielder so even back then when he played as a striker he unconsciously played the role of a midfielder for them too. So I think he started realising that he was more fit to be a midfielder even before going to Spain.
Second, Rin's talent was not recognised. When Rin was younger he played on pure instinct and because Sae understood Rin's talent he knew how to give free reign to Rin.
But after Sae left there was no one who could handle him. The team started loosing every game. The blame all went to rin because acc to rin's teammates 'Rin was not as good as Sae' and they only lost because Rin could not replace Sae.
So basically they now wanted Rin to coddle them just like sae had done before. With Sae it was possible because Sae was born to be a midfielder he had a talent for that. But how can you expect the same from Rin who was a pure striker.
Under all the pressure and insecurities Rin at last conceded.
He fully changed his pure instinct play style which he had developed since he was like 6. He developed a new style so that his team could keep up with him. He stifled his talent with his own hands. This was the origin of Rin's puppeteer play style. The flow state we see today is nothing but Rin's original play style in full force.
It was also mentioned that because Rin couldn't play as a pure striker so he started loosing interest in it. But for the sake of the promise he made with Sae he still kept playing.
As a way to cope up with loosing the thrill in football he started watching horror movies.
Have you ever wondered while watching the second selection that if Rin is so good so how come he was not well known like Kira? This was the reason. Basically, despite being one of the best strikers in Japan others thought he was shit because his team always lost the matches.

Sae is a bad brother. The justification is bad I get this is manga/anime, and it’s a troupe that apparently family members can only help one another through trauma which is…. Just so stupid, limiting and not believable. Yes that can happen but for as many examples, and being this is the repeated troupe in anime/manga, it speaks to low level of writing quality a lot of these mangaka have that they can’t write anything else or more compelling relationships in manga.
The sasuke example is bad bc the lengths early sasuke made do not match up to his ultimate goal. It’s clear from kishimoto he didn’t always have itachi be a good guy which explains the lengths itachi went to mentally torture sasuke that much during their first reunion. Overall it’s a bad and lazy troupe

Stealing from people and coming back 4-5 years later to see that victim working harder and better doesn't make the robber a "NOT A BAD" person right? What's different in rin's scenario then?

more like stealing knowing that this person would most likely be 10x better off if you stole from them.

@@OutlawTruth I think that even if you know that somebody would be 10x better, nobody has the right to force it upon others.
Back in 1960s parents would have thought the same thing and started beating their children close fist full force.
You wouldn't say that its the right thing to do would you?

@mocerlaalacbaino I wouldn’t agree because the parents had nothing to base that off of, sae has a basis of how Japan treats ego and knows it’s more than likely that if he does this to Rin he can become successful in being a striker.

@@OutlawTruth I agree with you about this, I guess what I am confused about is if it was okay for sae to be this forceful with his brother.

@mocerlaalacbaino it’s one of those things where I think the ends justify the means, if he was just doing it to be an asshole then yea I would say it’s wrong, but since he knows that rin is going to be better of this way and can be one of the best strikers I think he is doing it for a good reason, making him not a necessarily bad brother.

Itachi : literally kills every clan member to motivate sasuke to become stronger. He also physically strangles sasuke one time and tells him he's weak.
Everyone : I LOVE HIM. SUCH A GOOD BROTHER. BEST BROTHER. SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER!
Sae : insults rin verbally one time so that rin can become stronger, a better egoist n have a better career.
Everyone : I HATE HIM. WORST BROTHER EVER. WHAT HE DID TO RIN IS SUPER UNFORGIVABLE!!!! WORST CHARACTER EVER, I WILL NEVER FORGIVE HIM TILL THE DAY I DIE!!!!!
Lmao the double standards. I wonder which is worse, telling ur brother he's useless one time (normal) or killing every one of his family members? (extreme)
Before u tell me "but its not the same bc one is a ninja world !!", exactly, the double standards lol.
N before u tell me sae hates rin, go read the manga properly. There r so many panels where if u have a brain u will know he doesnt actually hate rin.

I mean he is. Sae has been a bad brother who is cold to Rin and a national traitor since the beginning. He roasted his own country and the national team as well as Rin. In real life that is a law violation and would have ended his football career. The media in Japan doesn't tolerate any controversy, once you have one mistake your star career is over.

Sae is absolutely perfect for Rin, he forced Rin to abandon his naive "tepid" way of thinking and made Rin a cold insanely destructive force. Thats why Sae wanted to leave at half time, he was contempt seeing than Rin is reaching new heights playing for the destruction of Sae but still thinks he's tepid for continuing to think of Sae as "my precious nii chan" rather than "a rival I need to crush".
