Great video! I just ordered an Iridium, and my Stomp is going on Reverb. The Iridium tones are so much better than the Stomp. This confirmed that I'm making the right gear choice.

For that VERY same reason, I recently sold the stomp and stuck with the Iridium. Just straight forward, straight up amp tones. Helped me focus more on the playing again!

I bought an HX stomp for direct recording and tried for like 2 years to be happy with the amp modelling, my main amp is a Friedman Dirty Shirley 40 and so I go for that open, warm low to mid gain Marshally thing.. I tried with the stomp, bought a bunch of IRs, etc.. never really happy with it. Bought an Iridium a few weeks ago and was instantly "this is much better, more real, touch sensitive, tone, etc.." I am running it direct with HX Native for some verb/delay. I want to just play it not constantly jacking with it trying to be happy.
Yeah man, I get that! Ultimately you can get amazing tones from most solutions out there today. The HX stomp is amazing, my buddies of We Never Settled recorded most of their guitar parts with the HX stomp and it sounds PHENOMENAL. Definitely check out their album and you’ll be amazed by the tones coming from a simulator. Lol At the end of the day it’s all about what work flow is best for YOU. And that might not always be the same in every scenario. For example, while at home, I plug into my real amps. When Im playing somewhere and want the closest thing to plugging into a real amp and getting amazing tones, the iridium wins. But right now I’m on deployment in Europe and would LOVE the versatility and tweak-ability of the HX stomp, just to have something to tinker with, you know?

I brought my new board with the Iridium added, I plugged into my buds amp and after two songs I realized I had both the iridium on in the Marshall setting and my Friedman smallbox OD on.. ! DOH! I was struggling with the sound and then realized I had the Iridium on, in front of the clean amp. Turned it off and the next song was MUCH better! You say you are deployed, what branch? I was in the Navy a long time ago.. my cousin Clifton Wright is a monster player from San Antonio, he is in Air Force Band of the Pacific and stationed in Japan. Jonathan Farias At this point brotha, my thoughts are that the HX stomp definitely sounds great, it can sound really amazing even, but it takes a lot of work to get it there. The iridium just does it right out of the box. Lol As great as the stomp is, is still leaves me desiring something. I’m not getting rid of it yet... but I did get a Kemper. 🙊😅 My last Video on the ROUS is through the Kemper and OH BOY. 😍
@@drewroze4168 yes indeed,I agree the Iridium is just perfect from the design to the ear of the player, I know there is a lot you can do with the stomp, and no doubt is a great contender but I choose the Iridium over the stomp for amp emulation. Now it would be great to see a video comparing the Vox profiles from the Kemper with the Iridium, that would be a great video. I appreciate your response brother. ☺️🙏

Good work Drew... agree on the fact that they different devices for a different type of player. I have the HX and use it as a stomp box and amp modeler depending on the backline. The Strymon though is a great pedal and my perspective of money was not an option I think both would be valuable to have as options.

Hey brotha!! So I am using the iPad Pro and it’s GREAT. I haven’t tried the HX edit on it or the strymon editor software on it.. but I have tried the MorningStar MC6 editor and it didn’t work (even though it would bus power the Mc6) 🤦🏻♂️ I will try it and get back to you. Honestly, the issue is not the iPad’s capability, it’s a BEAST of a machine, it’s the software being written specifically for Mac OS that’s making it incompatible with iPad OS.
I’m not actually sure!! I think the HX can send out messages but I think it’s mainly for passing through midi or being controlled via a controller from what I remember
HX FX + Iridium Vs. HX Stomp, which one will you choose? As I'm owning a HX Effects but it doesn't have amp modelling and I'm considering to sell it and take a HX Stomp
To be honest man, if you love the effects in the HX series, than you’re probably better off just getting the iridium! You’re probably already used to having more than three snapshots. IF and only IF you’re okay with going down to three snapshots then I’d recommend you going with the stomp, it’d be a much more compact setup for sure!

Sounds great, what reverb/ambient FX are you using in the opening twenty seconds of the video with the iridium?

I hate strymon... Currently run volante and iridium, don't see a way not to use them. Hard to argue with the power those 2 bring in a midi setup.
