i would love a future video where it’s like “color with me” and it’s just like an hour and a half of cozy vibes and music and we can color together in silence. it would be so cute!
I never knew why I couldn't follow through with a hobby or got tired with them so quickly. But curating my own "Brain Off" and "Brain On" hobby lists has really helped me realize what my brain needs when managing my ADHD.
I have a gardening journal where I draw my garden design, keep track of the flowers I've planted, what care they need, and the months they bloom! I also sketch my flowers in the journal and press flowers I planted x ❤🌷
Thank you for the reminder that hobbies are meant to be fun and not perfect. I gave up creative writing and learning how to crochet because I wasn't good at it in my mind.
me literally crocheting as I watch this 😂 I think for me, crocheting can be "brain on" when I start a project & am trying to figure out what I'm meant to be doing, but once I feel familiar with the instructions it's more brain off. Like you, I struggle to watch things if that's the only thing I'm doing, so crochet is often a go-to for me while I'm watching youtube videos.
Same feelings on the crochet project, especially when following a new pattern. I was also crocheting while watching this, hehehe. If you want to share, What project were you working on?
This is literally GOLD for my ADHD. when im understimulated i need BRAIN ON. And when im overstimulated i def need brain off. Sounds obvious, but i never like realised consciously. And I saw your shorts about it and my brain went 🤔💡. I always wondered why all my hobbies felt like no fun. Because the ones i was thinking about werent serving what i needed in the moment!!
I genuinely love the message that you don’t have to be good at something to do it or enjoy it. It’s really helped me set aside perfectionism and anxiety and just try the things I want to try.
My fave new cozy hobby has been candlestick painting! It looks so whimsical and also low pressure because I just use up the candlestick if it doesn't look "cute" but it's so so fun!
I love puzzles too! I appreciate what you said about the purpose of hobbies- it shouldn’t be another obligation. Personal story about puzzles- my husband and I have been together 16 years now. Through those years we’ve had some big moments where we had issues to sort out. And one particular big time “idk if I even want to be in this relationship anymore” issue my solution to have a time and space to talk. Lay it on on the table was to work a puzzle. We put the kids to bed and sat at the table and worked the puzzle and spoke when we had something g to say. And it worked to have something to occupy my eyes attention when I was so angry with him I couldn’t even look at him. And it gave me time to process what I wanted to say and helped me listen when he spoke just to have something to do with my hands. It was couples therapy. Hes not big into puzzles but I told him I needed this. And we evolved that into walks when we could talk more. And that was about 10 years ago we’re still married! So 🤷🏻♀️
I love this! I think it's definitely something that would help me when needing to have more difficult conversations (or sometimes just any deep conversation), since I struggle with eye-contact and need time to think through my answers. Thanks for sharing! ☺❤
It's interesting to read this. My siblings and I don't talk that much but we have a tradition of doing puzzles around Christmas/NYE. Last year, my brother and I had our first deep conversation ever because we were the only ones still awake late at night working on the puzzle. The next morning, I managed to have an important conversation with my dad because he was already working on the puzzle when I woke up. Perhaps we both discovered a new technique to facilitate important conversations through puzzles
@@Alicia-zf3nqaww that’s so nice! Thank you for sharing it really is crazy how well that works! I think we all get so distracted by electronic entertainment too that it’s noisy don’t have time to reflect and think, workout puzzles of the mind or what have you. I wonder if that lifestyle in society is causing a lot of anxiety and stress as a whole.
I think you're right about textile crafts being in the middle, but not just for the reason you said. Once you're good at a craft and have collected a bunch of sub-skills, you then have the ability to work on projects that will be brain off OR brain on, depending on what you're in the mood for. The possibility space is massive with these, and you can totally tailor them to whatever experience you want or need in that moment (once you clear a certain skill barrier, of course).
ok I'm dying at the "listen to an audiobook" counter😂 I love these ideas tho! I have the supplies for probably over half of these hobbies so this was a good reminder to pull some of them out again lol
Im surprised you didn’t mention an instrument. Piano is my #1 hobby. I memorize everything so it can either be brain on or brain off. Learning a new section of a piece can be very challenging & definitely occupies your mind & it can be SO SATISFYING & exciting adding a new piece to the puzzle building on what you’ve already learned when things start sticking & you see the improvement before you eyes/ears. & then I just love playing the pieces I’ve already learned purely using muscle memory which is great cuz it takes like 25% brain power & I can just get really into it & feel the music as I play, which is also so satisfying & makes me feel really empowered like wow I’m just casually playing this impressive piece like a talented musician🥰🎹✨
I hope lots and lots of people get into gardening!!! Not too sure how things work in the US but over here (Australia) we have lots of monthly gardening magazines that covers topics from how to structure your garden to the basics. Gardening Australia is a great show that’s given some good tips. Most of my gardening knowledge though has come from volunteering in a community garden. It’s a pretty simple hobby (depending what you want to grow) but every plant has the same steps, just in different degrees. My only thing is to be educated on what’s invasive in your area as even if it’s invasive it can be sold in stores !! I also highly encourage people to plant natives along with your veggies.
One of my personal favorite brain on hobbies is note taking. It can kinda fall in the middle depending on the day but finding a good video on a topic you want to learn more about or just like the vibes of is great to just take notes on and relax! Fun fact: that is how I discovered Cozy K in the first place was just following a note taking rabbit hole😅
Such a true point about cozy games being different for different people and different times. I have been loving getting into cozy games (thanks to binging your channel while trying to recover from burnout), but I will never play one that involves time-crunch-task-management. I'm gaming as a break from work--I don't want to have the stresses of work in a game! 😂 But I totally get that a lot of people really love building worlds and communities in things like Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. Great video with lots of variety of recommendations, and more tools for our fun/relaxation toolbox! 🥰
I’m an artist and I totally agree with you about oil pastels! I think another thing that makes them a good “brain-off hobby” is that they’re so tactile and fun sensory-wise. Smuding and blending them all over the paper with my hands is so freaking soothing 🥸
I currently don’t have a yard I can use for gardening, but I do have a nice sunny deck! I bought a bunch of 20 gallon fabric pots (also called grow bags) and am growing some very happy tomatoes and cucumbers :) it’s worth a try!
This was so fun! I’m a knitter and agree with some of the other comments about textile crafts and your own categorization as them in the middle of brain on and off. I have some knitting projects/ steps of a knitting project that are completely brain off because I’ve been knitting for years and can knit stockinette or ribbing without looking/thinking. But then I’ll have shaped sweaters, cables, lace, and color work that requires brain on. I love love the versatility of knitting for that reason and it’s part of why I struggle to do other cozy hobbies even though I’d love to paint and game more. Knitting is just so all encompassing for me!
This felt so extremely validating. I've read several other comments that are referring to ADHD specifically and wooooow I feel so seen. I really appreciate this break down, because as an ADHD (diagnosed as an adult) girly I am very much trying to understand how to manage and support myself. I am always craving stimulation but at varying degrees and am only starting to learn that. I have moments where I didn't realize my brain is craving a "brain off" stimulation, but I only thought of the "brain on" activities that I have, because I was looking for a distraction. This also made so much sense to why I enjoy rebingeing my comfort shows especially in the background of other tasks. Thank you for this content!!!
You helped me start cozy "brain off" hobbies like diamond art and paint by number. Thank you so much! I recently started making mandalas on scratch off boards. It is a divine "brain off" activity while listening to an audio book or podcast.
You don't even realize how much I would like to be your friend,I LOOOVE the way you explain things and you're literally so cool, you're my comfort youtuber
Thank you for this video. For me is always “if I don’t do this perfectly then starting is not worthy” and I lost my ability of enjoying the process without stressing myself about the result . I hope I can get my creativity back❤️
SUCH a great point at 5:20. I have really struggled with this when it comes to practicing my creativity in adulthood! I really like the way you frame it as a challenge to get yourself lost in the creativity. Thanks for this video 💛🎨
Kennedy, Your videos/content has helped me get through so much this summer 🫂! You’ve shared such brilliant ideas, and concepts that have really made me think and consider where I need change in my life, or how I can make things easier for myself. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart for creating and sharing all these amazing videos & vlogs! So much love & gratitude to you 💗🥰✨!
OMG PLEEEEEASE WHERE IS YOUR SWEATER FROM?!?!😍 And thank you so much for this video!! You’ve inspired me to incorporate some hobbies into my daily routine ☺️🤍
The best hobby I have is DnD. Great release, great brain on hobby. Plus you have "homework" for it if you level up or if you figure something out about your character. It's a great creative outlet for me and I get to socialise with like minded people.
I know you posted this a month ago, but I’m just seeing it today and this is exactly how my PMDD is. I have creative, brain days, and then 2 weeks of brain off, put beads on a string, do a 10,000 piece puzzle. Brain on and off is a great way to describe it!
Thank you so much for these! I used to do cross stitch until I found long stitch, which doesn't require counting and fills canvas much more quickly. Think it's much more chilled than cross stitch!
So excited for this fall season, and you’re right on-time with this video, Kennedy! Moving to a new place, so it’ll be great to find new cozy hobbies to reset with. Also, thank you so much for the shoutout in your London vlog for LiveitlikeLauren’s channel. She has such cozy vlogs and has helped me greatly in finding peace with being myself as well.
Hi! I just wanted to let you know I really enjoy watching your videos. I am going thru a new phase in life where my kids are getting a little older and I am finding myself with more free time I never had before. I didn’t know how to fill it and I have found so many of your ideas enjoying and I actually can’t wait now to get off of work and do them when before I was so bored and felt lonely so “thank you!!” You have brought some wonderful new hobbies into my life!
My partner and I love playing Skip-Bo every night 😂 I just throw on shuffle on some of my fav playlists, make a nice beverage, and we just chill 🩷 another card game we play a lot is Magic the Gathering 🔮it's actually so nice and chill and fun and it's a great way for us to bond and just have a nice laugh together haha Also, making diff playlists is another lovely hobby to engage in. I'd say this fits in the "Brain On" category but idk ..it could work in the "somewhere in between" too😅
You CAN garden. Even a small outdoor space can be used for a big vegetable garden. I follow be a farm girl here on TH-cam and she has opened up my world to the Greenstalk vertical gardener. In my apartment I only have a small patio out front and let me tell you I fit two of those out there and I have about 100 plants now growing food. you can even put them on a balcony. They only take up 2 feet of space and can grow about 42 plants each. They are life-changing.
love these!! i feel like knitting and crotcheting would sit in the inbetween list, specifically because there are times where you're doing the same type of knot for like hours and that's very brain off, but then you get to a new part of the pattern or you have to count your stitches and it becomes very brain on! it's a balance, for sure
You motivated me to start working on scrapbooking project (gift for my bf). I realized I was nervous to start because I want it to be perfect 💜 I love all of your advice! remember to take a break as needed, even tv shows have an off season (:
if you are into gardening i would totally recommend starting a small indoor house plants- propagation, succulents are fun and easy to care and you can also propagate those leaves very easily. its fun to watch them grow and shop for different pots and plant "accessories" . Also if you like to eat healthy you can grow sprouts in your window sills and use them in multiple food recipes :))
Thanks for another great hobby video!! So fun!❤🎉---I love coloring so much! I have an artistic background and can get so serious about say sketching. Coloring books lets me play with colors, add shading, but still relax my mind. The picture is already drawn and my brain knows the only goal is fill in the picture. I get to create without the pressure I put on myself. 😊😊
For gardening, just having a little herb garden m in the kitchen window or a raised planter on an apt patio is good for beginning gardening. I also recently purchased a few citrus trees since they take a couple years to produce mature enough and are okay with being grown in containers for quite a while. Also they smell divine when they are flowering!
After hearing you talk about it in a different video I tried gem painting while on a solo trip and it was the best thing! So relaxing. 😊 Now I’m addicted.
I'm a professional photo retoucher, and my favorite thing about my job is it's so brain off once I know what I'm doing! I retouched while listening to this.
Listen, I LOVE gardening, and have taken over my bf's back patio with grow bags. It is super fulfilling and relaxing, but it's definitely not a cheap hobby. Just a caution because I know sometimes jumping into new hobbies can become stressful when you don't really budget accordingly. It's been a very slow building hobby for me even from one year to the next, but I HIGHLY recommend everyone try growing and nurturing something.
This has been so helpful. I feel like sometimes I just need a brain off activity but would just go on my phone. Now I have new non screen activities for when I'm low energy.😊
We always take puzzles on our family beach vacations! First night we get it started on the kitchen table in a condo and someone is typically always at the table piddling on it throughout the vacation! One of our fave traditions now!
I've picked up a few new hobbies from your videos and I super appreciate the brain off ones, sometimes you just need to mellow out a bit from all the thoughts.
May I add: calligraphy. You could practice with your brain on for 5 minutes till you figure out one letter and then just keep it going without thinking too much. That is one cool skill to have, you might even feel like designing your own fonts
The audiobook test is perfect! I haven't gotten all the way through the video yet, but I'm an avid crocheter and I cannot listen to an audiobook while crocheting, but I can watch a show/youtube video/listen to music!
Brain Off game suggestions: Katamari Damacy!! and Okami! both oldies but goodies, for Okami you do have to think a little bit but there's fun just running in beautiful landscapes and exploring~ Brain On game suggestions: Any of the Persona series also Pokemon Snap
I took notes! I want to change so bad. My hobby is binge eating, binge watching TH-cam or TikTok and reading comments while halfway listening to the videos😭😭😭😭
Thank you for the cozy chat! For me reading is a brain off hobby unless I am reading a book where I actually want to learn or remember something. Fiber arts for me can be brain off when I'm working on a granny stitch project or a Raglan sweater. Because I don't play video games that often they tend to be more brain on for me. I've enjoyed them still, except candle tale hahaha. Really thought I would but I was googling so much to get through tasks that two hours in I wanted my money back 😅🤣.
One of my passive hobbies is finding new coffee shops, cafés and thrift stores to visit. I am also a knitter so knitting is a brain off hobby for me. (Yes, I do listen to audio books while knitting) 😂
Wingspan!!!! So good and also available on Steam and Switch. Cannot recommend more. I play against a computer to wind down and the relaxing music makes me sleepy. ☺️
Brain off: Coloring Scrapbooking Junk journaling Gem painting Paint by number Cross stiching Craft paper art Gardening Oil pastels Brain on: Reading Crosswords Mind puzzels Tabletop games Vision boards/making it come true Creative writing Middle ground hobbies: Lego sets Cozy gaming Puzzels Knitting/crocheting (i crochet :p) Clay crafts
I definitely can knit a pair of basic socks with no brain focus but give me an actual pattern and forget it. I need to be like hidden away in a room lol.
i would love a future video where it’s like “color with me” and it’s just like an hour and a half of cozy vibes and music and we can color together in silence. it would be so cute!

Not me, I can only focus on one thing at a time. Unless I'm coloring while listening to music.🖼️🖍️🎧🎼🎵🎶

In my apartment I only have a small patio out front and let me tell you I fit two of those out there and I have about 100 plants now growing food. you can even put them on a balcony. They only take up 2 feet of space and can grow about 42 plants each. They are life-changing.
omg i gotta look that up!! thank you!
love these!! i feel like knitting and crotcheting would sit in the inbetween list, specifically because there are times where you're doing the same type of knot for like hours and that's very brain off, but then you get to a new part of the pattern or you have to count your stitches and it becomes very brain on! it's a balance, for sure
You motivated me to start working on scrapbooking project (gift for my bf). I realized I was nervous to start because I want it to be perfect 💜
I love all of your advice! remember to take a break as needed, even tv shows have an off season (:
if you are into gardening i would totally recommend starting a small indoor house plants- propagation, succulents are fun and easy to care and you can also propagate those leaves very easily. its fun to watch them grow and shop for different pots and plant "accessories" . Also if you like to eat healthy you can grow sprouts in your window sills and use them in multiple food recipes :))
My favorite brain off hobby (although not a cozy one) is going to the gym. Especially after a day of sitting around and studying
Omggg ur hair in this video! U look so stunning! And that sweater looks great on you btw! Awesome video.
Coloring on happycolor while watching this to end the day 😌✨
For gardening, just having a little herb garden m in the kitchen window or a raised planter on an apt patio is good for beginning gardening.
Great !!! me colouring as I watch this video :))
Literally watching this while crocheting 🤣
oooo brain on cozy game for me lately has been Moonstone Island, I love its vibe but do be forgetting to feed my spirits every day 😮💨
I am colouring right now, while watching this
Love the ideas for new cozy hobbies!! ❤❤❤
I’m so excited to watch this I love your ideas ❤ I have fallen off my coziness into a bit of a slump and I’m trying to get back into it😊
I've picked up a few new hobbies from your videos and I super appreciate the brain off ones, sometimes you just need to mellow out a bit from all the thoughts.
May I add: calligraphy. You could practice with your brain on for 5 minutes till you figure out one letter
and then just keep it going without thinking too much. That is one cool skill to have, you might even feel like designing your own fonts
The audiobook test is perfect! I haven't gotten all the way through the video yet, but I'm an avid crocheter and I cannot listen to an audiobook while crocheting, but I can watch a show/youtube video/listen to music!
Hey! I mainly crochet for so many hours and most of the time, yes it's brain off, unless I'm doing a mosaic pattern or a doily
a great way to start gardening without a backyard is a small herb garden the kitchen! 💌mint, basil, and parsley are good beginning plants
I have a whole section of my bujo for my garden. I love it so much.
Brain Off game suggestions: Katamari Damacy!! and Okami! both oldies but goodies, for Okami you do have to think a little bit but there's fun just running in beautiful landscapes and exploring~
Brain On game suggestions: Any of the Persona series also Pokemon Snap
I took notes! I want to change so bad. My hobby is binge eating, binge watching TH-cam or TikTok and reading comments while halfway listening to the videos😭😭😭😭
I bought A Little To The Left because of your Brian On short! 😊
True wordle is a fun one guessing the 5 letter word. Plus its really fun when I read on the bus
Love the activity videos!!😊😊😊
Hello cozy k💜 I love your videos so relaxing 💯💯💯
thank you! amazing video
i loved this video ken!!
🫶🏽🫶🏽
I love your videos so much! So happy I found your channel ❤❤😊😊
Instead of scrapbooking, making collages helps me :) like on my phone and making little highlights for my Instagram is so relaxing to do
Lol I literally put on your video so I could brain off while I play Hello Kitty island 😂
It would be so cool to see some “brain off” video games. I have been having difficulty finding games I can play while I ~listen to audiobooks~
Omg!! Just by one video i am ur fan❤🙇
Great video❤
Great suggestions! I enjoyed this video so much!
I love these videos!!!
Love all of these!!
Oh girlfriend cross stitch is the ultimate brain off hobby. One of my favorites after doing complex projects at work all day
One of my passive hobbies is finding new coffee shops, cafés and thrift stores to visit. I am also a knitter so knitting is a brain off hobby for me. (Yes, I do listen to audio books while knitting) 😂
Exactly the video I needed to identify the hobbies I enjoy, I even made a list of all the hobbies I like base on this info.
Girl where is your jumper from!!? So cute, I can’t wait to watch this ! 🫶🏼
I want to know too!! I have been looking for something just like this for months!
@@shannonmachtans5100 me too girl I’m desperate 😭
I’ll have to do some investigating because it was from a random online boutique a couple years ago and there’s no tag! I’ll report back!🫡
Okay it was from J.ING but they don’t sell it anymore😭
That’s okay!! I’m gonna find a doop and report back HAHAHA
Wingspan!!!! So good and also available on Steam and Switch. Cannot recommend more. I play against a computer to wind down and the relaxing music makes me sleepy. ☺️
