I was considering the r9, until I saw both the steering wheels are 500 each. What's the point of making a mid range base when it requires a steering wheel that costs more than the base itself?

This entry level wheel base is amazing, I like the competition. A GIMX adapter might help with playing on the PS5 with GT7. The lack of an entry level wheel is a problem, especially if the rims cost more than the wheel base is ridiculous. Great review.

It can be with a moza qr and usb converion kit that would be expensive. Almost all other usb wheels and non usb wheels if you don't need butttons or shifters will work as long as the moza qr or a nrg 2.0 will bolt on.

It looks great! However they only have 2 wheels at the moment that are both $500 so that makes it definitely not the cheapest DD option since you won’t be driving if you buy it standalone. I was thinking the same thing. I'm running a Series X right now and PS4 as PS5 is hens-teeth hard to find right now, so if this could be compatible with consoles until I make the PC upgrade, this is an appealing alternative to the Fanatec DD Pro. My only concern, as is always a concern of mine when buying electronics, is whether this will be around awhile with good manufacturer support and updates or will it be niche and die on the vine (I've bought way too many niche electronics that were eliminated from a company's product line less than a year after release.) Nice review as always Mike! God bless and race on.

Whoa, free next day delivery?? I didn’t realize that. That’s a big deal. And for what it’s worth, both are great. The DD Pro gets the nudge from me because it’s console compatible, but either wheelbase is a good choice

@@jcoulter43 as far as manufacturer support, I probably have most confidence in Moza than the other recent startups in the industry lately. This being because they have been around for about a decade manufacturing camera gimbals, so they know how to break into a new market and produce a quality product. They're a bit more established.

If the base works with regular wheel (i saw a drift video with normal steering wheel), why the 3rd party SW wont work if connect via USB for buttons and gears?

If you use a third party USB wheel, it is going to just act like a button box essentially. You’ll have full tuning of the wheel’s FFB inside the software but the buttons will be handled as just additional inputs on your PC.

Surely if you turn the abs off you wouldn't get the abs effect come through the wheel? Isn't abs the feeling like you're driving on gravel when it kicks in as the pads repeatedly touch hundreds of times over and over again? If abs is off then the brakes just lock solid? Or am I crazy?! 😂

    • @vsm1456

I think the effects that come through aren't from ABS, but from the tyres quickly regaining and losing grip at low speeds

@@aarongreen121 I don't understand you. When Mike turned ABS off, that doesn't mean there shouldn't be any FFB when he locks front wheels. The wheels, even when locked, are still a soft, very grippy rubber so at low speed they should still try to regain grip (and then lose it). I'm pretty sure that's what you see in the video.

Mike turned off the abs so surely there wouldn't be that effect, it would just have the wheels lock and there be zero abs effect as like I've said he'd turned it off.
