In this video I address some of the comments people have been making about the the way I test for sapphire crystal. Hopefully this will help clear things up.
Strange how these guys couldn't even bother to watch more of your videos to see that the results are consistent, even with expensive watches. And then they threaten to report and stuff... I guess this is the world we live in.
it is a nice looking watch, although possibly a bit big for me personally, i do still admire the design (and the cool logo without text), thanks for another excellent detailed review, much appreciated !
James... great review. This reminds me of tudor pelagos in blue that mated with a zelos case. The only thing I don't like is the huge space from the top of the case to the rubber strap (at 4:41 in your video). I have a couple of the isofrane type of strap and they are thick and to see that much case just bothers me... not that big of a deal though considering the $300 price tag.
That's a lovely watch. I was looking to buy a Phoibos a few months ago, because they have a branch in Europe, which should be fast and simple. Unfortunately, it is based in the UK, which since Brexit makes is slow and expensive for EU based people.
It’s hilarious that some people find this watch too big. 45mm is not a huge watch by any means. If anything; the smaller 36mm to 39mm trend is way too effeminate for my liking. This watch is certainly not tacky like Invicta or some of the other gawdy brands. The average wrist is 7.25” and thus a 42mm to 47mm watch is well proportioned. Absolutely love the bright blue color, which reminds me of a Tudor Pelagos. 👍🏻
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWRI think is how you feel with your self wearing it and no matter anything else! I'm waiting for one and I'm sure I'll be happy to use it every day! Thank you for your work!
Great review , like this one , reminds me of my Steeldive in that blue . 3 layers of lume , great specs , they have some nice bronze options . Im tempted, no matter what !
Nice review James! When I saw the lumeshot I had the exact same impression, the lumed sections of the hands need to be wider. On the whole, that chunky, angular and even brutalist case design isn't my thing.
Looks absolutely tank like, way too big for me, but I actually have my first one coming too what I got a fantastic deal on via eBay. Really excited as they look great value for money. Nicely done review as always 👍
I like Phoibos watches I have the voyeger in the gray dial and it is a very sexy watch but this thing is just to boxy and chunky especially to br 45mm dial.
I own a Bronze Leviathan in green, and it seems like they really toned down the design for the stainless steel version. It feels like it lost a lot of the character the original bronze one had, so that they could appeal to a bigger audience. But I guess that's to be expected because the original Leviathan really didn't sell in any significant numbers, as far as I can tell.
I wrote this off because of the size and the poor pictures on Spinnaker's site (everything looks like a render). It looks a lot better in video - the green + green variant would really deserve the Hulk nickname. What does the watch weigh? Citizen have interrupted grip on some of their bezels, and it's always struck me as a bit odd. Adds some style on the Cits, but here I think they could have gone with all-round grip.
I was hooked until you turned to the side of the case. In architecture this is called brutalism, and is indeed! All dimensions! Pity for such a beautiful dial. Thanks anyways for the review. PS Looks like you already have diffuser on the light, should you change position? Just saying... [got you from the watch's crystal reflection...hahaha]
I don't actually have this one anymore unfortunately. But they have since released a new 40mm version, which I've just reviewed though. th-cam.com/video/IibPyRwcbC0/w-d-xo.html

@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR That should be really clear now.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR That is called calibration, is it?

It's friggin huge, but so well made and striking to behold. Cracking watch for the money!
Yeah absolutely.
Definitely not a small watch...but so well made its insane!
Yeah absolutely.

Quite a few people have said the same thing.

Thanks. Yeah I can see the resemblance.
The dial and the bezel insert looks so much better than the bronze leviathan.
I think so too.
That's a lovely watch. I was looking to buy a Phoibos a few months ago, because they have a branch in Europe, which should be fast and simple. Unfortunately, it is based in the UK, which since Brexit makes is slow and expensive for EU based people.
Perhaps you would be better ordering from the main site then and getting it shipped from China maybe?

I guess it all depends on what size wrist you have. Then the important measurement is the lug to lug.

Thanks. It's got 15 layers of lume. I think it has 3 layers of AR on the underside of the crystal.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR fantastic, even better 👍🏻

Cheers mate.
It's the one thing on the watch that is relatively small 😆
The DLC coated models have a more slippery bezel and crown because DLC is naturally slippery.
That makes sense.
Great review! What a leviathan indeed 🐋
Cheers mate 👍

@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR their newish voyager v2.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR cheers, not sure if I'm keeping it after the review though. Might need to flip it to keep the funds up.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR that definitely could happen, I'll have to wait and see I guess.
Waytoo big, but I'm buying one🤣 As a scuba tool its ok but it's not an office watch, you'd be knocking chunks off the furniture...

Really love the looks. Tough. Like a g shock automatic would be in size but have its own shape. Great colour. Thank you
That's a pretty good description really. But whereas G-Shocks absorb impact this just leaves a dent in the floor instead 😆
Straight to the on-wrist shot lol

I think you've probably hit the nail on the head there. They need to try and make it more widely appealing to be able to sell more.
I have a reef master wears bigger than the 42mm 48mm lug to lug I think it’s just a phoibos thing
I think you can pull it off with your 7" wrist, just don't lose any weight! Damn good looking watch.
That shouldn't be a problem... If anything I've got the opposite problem 😆
Great watch great review
Thank you.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR I really like the bronze version but wish it had a plain dial not the open heart.
Looks a good monster of a watch.. Wish they offered a bracelet option
That would be good.
Do they offer a metal bracelet that can swap out ??
No, they don't have a bracelet option with this watch.

I'm not sure if you got mixed up or this comment was for another video, but this is a Phoibos, not a Spinnaker.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR multiple tabs, middle of the night, mentally deficient, all of the above...
@@ozludo I know that feeling all to well.
Very cool! 🥶🥶🥶
Yes it is.
If they’d shrink it down 20-25% I’d go for it but it’s just too damn big for my tastes. Love the case and dial though.
I've suggested to them that they consider making a smaller version, as a lot of people seem interested.
Love this watch I wish I had the funds for one
It is a cool, albeit large one.
@@HonestWatchReviewsHWR love large
I'm guessing you've got fairly large wrists then?

It is a chunky one.
I've decided to go back to my old lighting setup instead. The new ones just weren't quite right.
Nice .love the shape of the case.bit too big for me and too much blue.is there another color?
Thanks James 🤺
Yeah I forgot to mention they have other colours too. The links are in the description.
I kind of like it. Way too huge for me, but it looks beautiful.
A few people have said that. I'm sure more will too.
Beautiful watch 👍
Just too big for me...
hey question, if you'd compare this to a Seiko Prospex Turtle (both 45mm) which one is / looks bigger on wrist or are they quite similar?
I don't actually have this one anymore unfortunately. But they have since released a new 40mm version, which I've just reviewed though.
