Both games are great, but I liked GTA San Andreas because of the large size of the city and the presence of cities, villages, rural places and forests, and there is a lot of content in the game after completing the story, such as you can be a taxi driver, paramedic, policeman or firefighter. Being a truck driver or a construction worker and being able to get into a gang war and being able to buy houses and go with your gangsters or go to the gym and do a lot of things in the world of San Andreas, unlike GTA 4, you can't do anything Other than just touring. The open world and eating in restaurants, playing bowling, or just hanging out with one of your friends, but GTA 4 offered excellent physics in everything. I don't hate GTA 4, but I prefer GTA San Andreas because of the great content in the world
in GTA SA has the character of a young person who always wants to try new things while in GTA 4 has the character of an older and more mature person who wants to enjoy life as a normal person in general
If I could add one feature from GTA SA to IV would be the ability to buy more safehouses, it really feels like a chore to have only 3 saving spots in such a large city
TLAD desperately needed more safehouses. Once finishing the game you're left with one very out of the way place to go to just to save the game. TBOGT needed more as well but at least Luis' one was a bit more central.
Liberty City is a city. San Andreas is a state. To me it was obvious that (in 2008, even with the newer console gen...) LC won't be as big as SA. However GTA 4 probably has more (or at least equally as much) interiors and HD Era LC are as big as 3D Era San Andreas' three cities combined.

GTA IV didn't have enough time to bring in the variety, because they only had 4 years. They could either make a new physics engine or create environments. GTA VI is doing both so look how long it's taking to release.
@thanu they all used the same physics engine. It was just the question of adding new texture packs. That's why their animations are so similar. As a result of using the same physics engine, these games started their developments before their respective predecessors were even completed. So it's not like Vice City only had one year or San Andreas had only two years, they had a little more time than that. On the other hand, the hands of GTA IV's developers were tied until the new physics engine was created. All they could do was wait till it was done, only then they could start working.

Back then the complaints included: boring, sluggish, greyed out, depressing, downgraded, tonnes of content removed, abilities removed, monotonous friend activities, no progression or reason to, worst mission varety in the franchise, no property or even garages, multiplayer where people kept killing you at the airport, less cool cars, less guns, etc etc... Now in 2024 it's a 10/10 masterpiece, and potentially the greatest game ever made lol.
gta 4 definitely feels like a downgrade compared to sa but still a good game. always bothered me how you couldn't even fly a plane in gta 4 or get some good weapons like a minigun or a flamethrower but i still like gta 4.

I played both games while GTA San Andreas has a lot more features that are missing in GTA 4 , it's undeniable that GTA 4 has better graphics and way better physics.Both games have their ups and downs but I'd personally choose the San Andreas because there are a lot more things to do while in GTA 4 you're mainly stuck in a city that gets boring after a while.
Talk about their feats, in the past / before the game storyline Niko did more than CJ as he was a soldier but in the game storyline CJ did way more than Niko as he broke into Area 69, killed a countless in a various areas not only in one city, etc.

(Not even bringing up "definitive" edition)
Tbf Tbogt did add a lot of things that GTA 4 needed like Tanks, Parachutes, more weapons, more mini games, though I agree In terms of features and map SA was better.
GTA IV is more like a quality over quantity type of game. limited features, less options, fewer weapons, smaller map etc but all that what we have in the game are brilliantly done and have excellent quality, so much effort and details into them

GTA 4 has better graphics but it's just too polished and the story was kind of bland. GTA SA was huge ranging from cities to countryside, mountains, deserts and there was much greater variety. From hood to flying jets, and lots of offroad cars that didn't all have big rims.
Gta 4's story was so dark and emotional. But Gta SA beats it because it had fun, action, dark and emotions. There was not so much dark and emotion but it still had. Fun and action was more on SA.

Both Niko and CJ are great, but thing is most of Niko's achievement like war vet stat are off screen and only puropse of it is finding Darko, otherwise he is no saint, he like all GTA protagonist does anything for money oike kidnapping Gracie, killing the hobest charitable Lawyer offering jobs who wanted to expose Francis's corruption and more. We only get to play a part of Niko's ready made life. But with CJ he starts as a gangster who returns home. We help him really se the rank. We train him kn gyms learn different move sets beating gym masters (ls boxing, sf kung fu, lv mma), can give him hair cut, tatyoes , different cloth shops and from a busta he went to show bravery in yhe Green Saber when Sweet tells him to save himself CJ bravely says "I ain't running out on my brother, yo Ballas I am taking you down, I am taking you all down!" And he bravely surrender hinself. From there he rises again having his garage, cadino, air field, mandion CJ grows from a gangster to a rich and powerful businessman who outsmarted a mob biss like Salvatore Leon pulling a brilliant tactical casino heist (gta 3 and LCS shows how powerful Salvatore is) and eventually brings down traitor Big Smoke and the corruot CRASH cops and expands the GSF homies with better weapons taking over Ballas and Vagos territory. By the end of the fame CJ is a rich and powerful business man and the co leader of SA's most powerful gang the GSF. CJ feels like a son you raise, you never get that feeling with any other GTA protagonists. Feature wise SA is unmatched six different cloth stores (ny fav isvthe biker iacket in Victim), diverse mao 3 cities, a desert and countruside, parachuting from mounth chilliad, completing burglary side mission gives you infinity stamina (you xan even tob gang houses and they fight you back, you can soray and choaknthem its fun), stealth mechanics gone in 4, daying GFs give reward like dating cop Barbara in the desert gives the special cool cop outfit and you never lose weaponsvwhen arrested again, seeing inmates fight each other to death visiting jails, driving traibs, jetpacking everywhere, playting pool in the bar, buying properties all over SA and the list goes on and on . For is a great GTA game but all thigs considered GTA SA is the greatest GTA game ever, and consider the fact ut xane out in 2004!
You'd be correct. I went to play it again on Series X and got bored half way through. Dont know if I'll finish it. Just don't care much and east coast stuff doesn't appeal to me much
GTA 4 had amazing driving and i thought Niko was a better character as he was through war and hearing his war stories is sad but it shows that Niko doesn't want to be a violent person
San Andreas was just way better, cars were better, car customization had more options, weight mechanics, haircuts, tattoos, bigger map, story, music, etc. only thing gta4 got better was graphics, and physics. Tbogt was better tho

Gta san Andreas is a masterpiece, it has all those things which a Gta fan like me wants like great Storyline, great adventure, Awesome graphics, several Missions and side Missions, lots of Vehicles like different bikes and cars, Air Vehicles like Jets, helicopter, Aeroplane, Jetpack etc, option for haircut, Eating animation etc and our lovely protagonist Cj, swimming mechanism is also very good, I have not played Gta 4 or 5 but I don't wont to play also, because i love to play Gta san Andreas game, this my favorite game, because this 18yrs old game has made our childhood Awesome and far better from Gta 4 and Gta 5

Well technically you can parachute in gta 4. Just not in the original version. Bcs its also 2 addon Packs you could buy and in gta tbogt you can parachute.
Whether you like it or not, GTA San Andreas is the greatest video game ever made. It's a fact. And the evidences are everywhere. There's no game that will beat it in all categories. Of course it will lose to graphics, physics or something else. But to beat it as a whole? Nope. There's not a single game that can do that. GTA 4 has actually two different states, Alderney and Liberty. With cities such as Alderney City, Liberty City (which is huge) and others in Alderney. Broker, Bohan, Dukes, Algonquin and Alderney also feel different. The nightlife in Algonquin, the poor neighborhoods of Bohan, Somewhat depressing Alderney, middle class Dukes and immigrant filled Broker.

You mean Port Gellhorn? It's a small town not a city. It's similar to the Blaine County in GTA V you can't necessarily call it a city because it's basically just the rural outskirts.

You can find some prop flowers in game and use it as throwable you know what mean gta 4 can pick random items so don't worry about useless weapons such as flower etc if it wasn't rockstar helicopters won't be a thing too the graphics jump is way higher than sa / physics
In GTA San Andreas there is other use of the flowers: you can give it to your girlfriends, with whom you also can have uncensored sex (Hot Coffe mod). In GTA SA you can start a fire, then help the firemen with your extinguisher. There are trucking sidemissions, stadiums, schools, casino games, triathlon, basketball, mountain bike downhill, ... GTA San Andreas has much more features than what this video mentions. GTA 4 was/is a huge disappointment.

They went all out with GTA San Andreas and limited themselves with GTA IV. Having said that I still love both the games, I especially like Niko's character.
1. in gta 4 you can not swim underwater because the sea of liberty city is very polluted and anyone swimming underwater would die of poisoning. 2. parachutes were not added because in liberty city there are no such attractions because people there are very discreet or very disinterested or simply do not have money for it and in such a city it would be very unsafe. 3. the cars can not be changed because for the simple reason that it is a very depressing city or of little interest for this type of things was not added because rockstar likes to be very attached to the culture or customs of the places where their games are set. 4. the change of clothes is less accessible because in liberty city people are elegant and modest so the stores are set in this and the ones that sell clothes without these characteristics are cheap stores used by the lower part of the city. 5. a bigger map was not added because as the game was too full adding more expansions could overload it. thanks for reading this could clear up quite a few supposed *defects*. in the game
Hardest decision in gaming, I swear I can't pick, gta 4 had the amazing story and amazing characters and their history like niko in the war and its driving and its attention to detail, While gta san andreas also had an amazing story, it wasn't the best after vertical bird, but the end of line makes up for it, the amount of things u can do in gta san andreas is insane, minigames, changing cloths, discovering the map, and the amazing amount of cars u can drive, and j had a lot of fun playing it as a kid just driving around the Map with a 4 star wanted level, nostilga, I dont have gta 4 nostilga cuz I never heard of it as a kid, playing it now, is just amazing, im always bored, gta 4 and gta 3, sa, vice city changes that, my dads laptop is old so he got a new one I have his, it can run gta 4 good with , 800x600 low texture resolution low water resolution no shadows or reflections it runs good and looks good somehow, red dead came to ps4 and ps5, and it's a 2010 game, maybe 2008 game is next, gta 4, if it releases it will look good play good and have amazing reflections and shadows, im buying that, but now I just gotta wait to get red dead 2 and try it.
Quality of quantity for GTA4 Depends what you'd rather, I guess. A more realistic game with better graphics and physics, or a game with lots of stuff to do other than missions. Tags, horseshoes/oysters, stunt jumps, gang wars, driving/flying school, weapon skill, gyms, tattoos, barber, clothes, car customisation, racing, video games, gambling, playing pool, girlfriends, firefighting/police/ambulance side missions. Different types of cars. GTA4 had bowling though. Nothing beats that. 😁

The best thing about GTA San Andreas is territory ownership, gang wars and hiring gang members as bodyguards. You can interact with your bodyguards: you can give them commands/orders and you can give them your camera to photograph you. You are not alone, you experience companionship, which makes free roaming even better. It's so satisfying and empowering feeling, being a VIP person. I provoke and lure enemy gang into my territory, and my gang protects me, my territory is my safe area from the enemy. I intentionally do not take over too much enemy territories. I let Ballas and Vagos to own territories, so I can have fun (feel safe on my territory, feel threatened when I leave, but my bodyguards protect me). I also very like this aspect of GTA Vice City. I buy properties in the enemy gang's territory, and they become safe islands for me, where the Vercetti gang protects me. There is no such thing in GTA 5 and IV, and that's the main reason why they are garbage games.
GTA San Andreas > GTA IV > Vice City Stories > Vice City > GTA 3 > Liberty City Stories. GTA V is not on the list bcs Take 2 and Rockstar had been already dead long before GTA V was out.
CJ becomes fat by eating too much. While Niko, Johnny, and Luis don't gain weight even if they eat unlimited. Although they can get intoxicated, unlike CJ. Luis can even die by drinking too much.

Yea. I sold it after a month. The game felt limited jumping from San Andreas.
Back then the complaints included: boring, sluggish, greyed out, depressing, downgraded, tonnes of content removed, abilities removed, monotonous friend activities, no progression or reason to, worst mission varety in the franchise, no property or even garages, multiplayer where people kept killing you at the airport, less cool cars, less guns, etc etc...
Now in 2024 it's a 10/10 masterpiece, and potentially the greatest game ever made lol.

I played both games while GTA San Andreas has a lot more features that are missing in GTA 4 , it's undeniable that GTA 4 has better graphics and way better physics.Both games have their ups and downs but I'd personally choose the San Andreas because there are a lot more things to do while in GTA 4 you're mainly stuck in a city that gets boring after a while.

GTA 4 has better graphics but it's just too polished and the story was kind of bland. GTA SA was huge ranging from cities to countryside, mountains, deserts and there was much greater variety. From hood to flying jets, and lots of offroad cars that didn't all have big rims.

Both Niko and CJ are great, but thing is most of Niko's achievement like war vet stat are off screen and only puropse of it is finding Darko, otherwise he is no saint, he like all GTA protagonist does anything for money oike kidnapping Gracie, killing the hobest charitable Lawyer offering jobs who wanted to expose Francis's corruption and more. We only get to play a part of Niko's ready made life. But with CJ he starts as a gangster who returns home. We help him really se the rank. We train him kn gyms learn different move sets beating gym masters (ls boxing, sf kung fu, lv mma), can give him hair cut, tatyoes , different cloth shops and from a busta he went to show bravery in yhe Green Saber when Sweet tells him to save himself CJ bravely says "I ain't running out on my brother, yo Ballas I am taking you down, I am taking you all down!" And he bravely surrender hinself. From there he rises again having his garage, cadino, air field, mandion CJ grows from a gangster to a rich and powerful businessman who outsmarted a mob biss like Salvatore Leon pulling a brilliant tactical casino heist (gta 3 and LCS shows how powerful Salvatore is) and eventually brings down traitor Big Smoke and the corruot CRASH cops and expands the GSF homies with better weapons taking over Ballas and Vagos territory. By the end of the fame CJ is a rich and powerful business man and the co leader of SA's most powerful gang the GSF. CJ feels like a son you raise, you never get that feeling with any other GTA protagonists.
Feature wise SA is unmatched six different cloth stores (ny fav isvthe biker iacket in Victim), diverse mao 3 cities, a desert and countruside, parachuting from mounth chilliad, completing burglary side mission gives you infinity stamina (you xan even tob gang houses and they fight you back, you can soray and choaknthem its fun), stealth mechanics gone in 4, daying GFs give reward like dating cop Barbara in the desert gives the special cool cop outfit and you never lose weaponsvwhen arrested again, seeing inmates fight each other to death visiting jails, driving traibs, jetpacking everywhere, playting pool in the bar, buying properties all over SA and the list goes on and on .

Broker, Bohan, Dukes, Algonquin and Alderney also feel different. The nightlife in Algonquin, the poor neighborhoods of Bohan, Somewhat depressing Alderney, middle class Dukes and immigrant filled Broker.

You can find some prop flowers in game and use it as throwable you know what mean gta 4 can pick random items so don't worry about useless weapons such as flower etc if it wasn't rockstar helicopters won't be a thing too the graphics jump is way higher than sa / physics
In GTA San Andreas there is other use of the flowers: you can give it to your girlfriends, with whom you also can have uncensored sex (Hot Coffe mod). In GTA SA you can start a fire, then help the firemen with your extinguisher. There are trucking sidemissions, stadiums, schools, casino games, triathlon, basketball, mountain bike downhill, ... GTA San Andreas has much more features than what this video mentions. GTA 4 was/is a huge disappointment.

1. in gta 4 you can not swim underwater because the sea of liberty city is very polluted and anyone swimming underwater would die of poisoning.
2. parachutes were not added because in liberty city there are no such attractions because people there are very discreet or very disinterested or simply do not have money for it and in such a city it would be very unsafe.
3. the cars can not be changed because for the simple reason that it is a very depressing city or of little interest for this type of things was not added because rockstar likes to be very attached to the culture or customs of the places where their games are set.
4. the change of clothes is less accessible because in liberty city people are elegant and modest so the stores are set in this and the ones that sell clothes without these characteristics are cheap stores used by the lower part of the city.

Hardest decision in gaming, I swear I can't pick, gta 4 had the amazing story and amazing characters and their history like niko in the war and its driving and its attention to detail,
While gta san andreas also had an amazing story, it wasn't the best after vertical bird, but the end of line makes up for it, the amount of things u can do in gta san andreas is insane, minigames, changing cloths, discovering the map, and the amazing amount of cars u can drive, and j had a lot of fun playing it as a kid just driving around the Map with a 4 star wanted level, nostilga, I dont have gta 4 nostilga cuz I never heard of it as a kid, playing it now, is just amazing, im always bored, gta 4 and gta 3, sa, vice city changes that, my dads laptop is old so he got a new one I have his, it can run gta 4 good with , 800x600 low texture resolution low water resolution no shadows or reflections it runs good and looks good somehow, red dead came to ps4 and ps5, and it's a 2010 game, maybe 2008 game is next, gta 4, if it releases it will look good play good and have amazing reflections and shadows, im buying that, but now I just gotta wait to get red dead 2 and try it.

Depends what you'd rather, I guess. A more realistic game with better graphics and physics, or a game with lots of stuff to do other than missions.
Tags, horseshoes/oysters, stunt jumps, gang wars, driving/flying school, weapon skill, gyms, tattoos, barber, clothes, car customisation, racing, video games, gambling, playing pool, girlfriends, firefighting/police/ambulance side missions. Different types of cars.
GTA4 had bowling though. Nothing beats that. 😁

The best thing about GTA San Andreas is territory ownership, gang wars and hiring gang members as bodyguards. You can interact with your bodyguards: you can give them commands/orders and you can give them your camera to photograph you. You are not alone, you experience companionship, which makes free roaming even better. It's so satisfying and empowering feeling, being a VIP person. I provoke and lure enemy gang into my territory, and my gang protects me, my territory is my safe area from the enemy. I intentionally do not take over too much enemy territories. I let Ballas and Vagos to own territories, so I can have fun (feel safe on my territory, feel threatened when I leave, but my bodyguards protect me).
I also very like this aspect of GTA Vice City. I buy properties in the enemy gang's territory, and they become safe islands for me, where the Vercetti gang protects me.
There is no such thing in GTA 5 and IV, and that's the main reason why they are garbage games.

GTA San Andreas > GTA IV > Vice City Stories > Vice City > GTA 3 > Liberty City Stories.
GTA V is not on the list bcs Take 2 and Rockstar had been already dead long before GTA V was out.

CJ becomes fat by eating too much. While Niko, Johnny, and Luis don't gain weight even if they eat unlimited. Although they can get intoxicated, unlike CJ. Luis can even die by drinking too much.
