This guy is a music historian with great stories. Snow you should start a podcast, I don't think anyone expected you to be so got damn humble and ridiculously interesting.
Right he's just so humble and blessed talks of this life of crime but what I believe is Jamaica and losing all that American tour money and the strange course of events like does that DJ from Jamaica queens push his record if his dog wasn't fed tacos for the first-time snow was prolly a legend in that group of People he hung out with in newyork
One thing about us Jamaicans. We love when people from other cultures embrace our culture. We don't care if you're from Australia, Canada, Germany, where ever. As long as the art is good. We will show the support and give you the love. It's when you don't acknowledge that you're using our culture. It's when you don't give us our roses, we have a problem. Love it, embrace it, use it. Just acknowledge us and where it came from. Big up Snow for that. One song they forgot to mention that was remixed and re-released, became a hit was "The Train is Coming" by Shaggy and Ken Boothe. The original by Ken Boothe.
They love when nonblacks but especially whites embrace their culture. I hear complaints about appropriation when someone like Beyonce does a song like Baby Boy.
And Jamaicans ,Guyanese,Trinidadians, ect. Are true blend of cultures snow ❄️ is Irish the original raga muffins I have Irish ☘️ in me and I’m black lol 😂 so I know
I’m from Toronto and worked in the music scene for a while as a hopeful producer and studio assistant. Snow always showed respect to everyone in the studio and in the street. And no one joked on him. He was not to be trifled with. I remember saying hello to him when he was with lots of people, most popular artists don’t have time to say hello, but Snow always said hello and went a step further to ask how you were doing and blessed you. This is a real one! Ask anyone in Toronto, from rexdale to scarborough Snow is a real one! 🙏❤️

Much respect to snow,I'm from a Irish fam and love reggae too! Theres are a lot of similaritys between the Irish & Jamaican's, when both cultures came to England they lived together in the same areas that's when they could get a place, There were signs saying No Irish, No Blacks & No dogs! His story really resonates with me as I'm poor most of my fam have spent time in prison, and probs with drinking & what not! Big up Snow! REWIND MY SELECTA!!🇮🇪🤜🏼🤛🏾🇯🇲💯🔥🔥🔥
The "no irish, no blacks, no dogs" only came about after a photo appeared in the 80s, which has been debunked as a fake. But its funny how myths like this come about.

Snow seems like such a rare oldskool character.... He seems like one of the most laidback easy going people I’ve ever seen... Snow is. A legend ...this interview has made me like him and appreciate him even more ....
In the UK, Informer was in the top 3 of our charts, with Shaggy's Oh Carolina and Shabba Ranks Mr Loverman. And i think that's the only time when the top 3 slots in the chart have been taken by reggae artists.
good to see he's still around...i love finding these newer interviews of older stars from back in my school days....depressing to see how old we all get but nice to know they survived the years
Y'all can say whatever tf, about Vlad, me personally he's doing something special. I grew up in Nigeria, in the 80's, now I live in Chicago. Seeing interviews like these(this), makes me nostalgic and give me a better understanding of the struggles and stuff we saw on TV, in Nigeria. Keep up the good work Vlad. Much love and respect brother. 💪🏿
Informer track was big here in the U.K, I remember being played relentlessly on the radio and in night clubs at the time! Listen to it now, still a banger!

What a guy, absolutely humble and blessed. Ledge, one of the best interviews ive watched and i dont normally watch interviews this long but i watched from start to finish. He the man.
I only really knew the song "informer" by this dude. After this interview checked out his other tunes. Damn! What a talent! But seriously, what a humble, ego- free, nice guy. One of a kind in the music industry.
What I find hilarious is that when I was about 9-11 years old or so Snow was one of the only things I liked that my mother would let me listen to. Along with kriss kross and Marky mark. Meanwhile I was getting grounded for a doggystyle or chronic album. Yet, Snow is and was actually a badass who grew up with gangsters and allegedly Dre is mostly a studio gangster lol. Then later on I was allowed to listen to bone Thugs because mom said she acknowledged the talent at least. Yet, was still forbidden from Eazy E and Dre and snoop. Ahahahaha that tickles me big time.
Exactly the same here! LOL Playing Ice Cube and Cypress Hill quiet as possible, but then blaring out Snow and Kris Kross. That first Kris Kross album though 'TOTALLY KROSSED OUT' 😎
Well Snoop is a Crip and was a gang banger who became a successful rapper. That Chronic album with Dre & Snoop as well as Doggystyle goes hard. They spoke of what was going on in the hood. I can see why your Mother wasn't ok with their music. Those albums have illicit lyrics. Dre may not have been a gangster he is a real one. He was around people who did that type stuff.
Well said mate! As a musician / Music lover who grew up down the road from London, I have met and session’d with a lot of fellow music people from all over; I have found nothing but love and respect - as long as you are true and respectful to the culture and art that you are creating. I’ll always remember going to a place in Reading UK to see Rodigan vs Goldfinger with a mate of mine and we were literally the only white people there (except Rodigan of course) but we were there, just loving the music and feeling the vibes. It was one of the best nights of my life and I’m not really into Roots / Ragga / Dub etc but the vibes you get from these sessions is magical!!! Love from the UK 🇬🇧
@@i-ronlion707 Yeah! the Central Club! The one with the mural down the side! That was a big part of Reading Culture and music in recent times. Shame it's closed.....
2024 I just introduced Informer to my son. We would bump some early 90’s dance raps after picking him up from school. He digs Informer so much. I didn’t realize Snow was legit OG.
no they didn't. He chose to come on all the same shows and shit because that's where the attention and money is generated. And even vanilla ice was actually respected for his underground work. If people felt a certain type of way that's on them. And both artist had to deal with that.
@@barryschalkwijk9388 I'm not denying his accomplishments. The point I was trying to make was Vanilla Ice basically faked his backstory. However, to your point, he definitely has his place in rap history.
Ironically, as much as Snow had way more street credibility and he was certainly more talented musically than Vanilla Ice, he had a similar problem ultimately musically like him. He couldn’t really make all his different musical influences his own. Plus, dancehall reggae is a very difficult genre to begin with to even try to maintain that kind of level of mainstream success in America.
Snow is a legend! I'm 40 years old and when he dropped he had shit on lock. This dude will always be a respected figure in music in my household. His song Runway is my favorite, he absolutely killed that shit. Hook and beat was out of this world.
My man snow, i had all his albums on loop, till this day...legal, girl I've been hurt, runway, murder love, Babylon, time, si we, he did so many great tunes, i just love this guy, and now when i saw the interview i respect him more BIG Up ❤️
Dude has a voice and a vibe for a mean ass hook. Much love from BC canada, I remember my buddy showing up to grade 4 in like 93 with a snow tape and that was the shit. We constantly got in shit for taking turns listening to it on his walkman in class.
Snow is Amazing cause he doesn't claim reggae he just claims to love it. I know the neighborhood he grew up in its new condos now but there were nuff yaadies. My brother was one.
I had the pleasure of meeting snow backstage at a concert in Vancouver in the early 2000s. He was incredibly humble and kind, a truly warm and friendly guy, you"d never know he was a famous reggae star. He saw me and came up to introduce himself by his real name, not, snow. we had a short but pleasant conversation and kept it moving. His humble nice guy act isn"t an act, he"s the real deal, a truly cool dude. I wish him the absolute best and he richly deserves all the success he has had and will have in the future. Another great interview, thanks Vlad and bless you Snow!
It still doesn’t change the inherent deficiencies of music after the first album. There’s a more fundamental reason why he couldn’t maintain his success.
My dad went to High school with Snow! He always said that’s his real voice he ain’t just putting it on for the song (informer) 😂 legendary interview tho vlad it would mean the world to me if you could get my dad back in touch with snow sometime, he even said he probably would remember him too
Of course that's his real voice lol that was never in doubt did you listen to this interview? Lol and I seriously doubt Vlad is gonna go thru his comments and say hey snow Lucas bonner wants you to get in touch with his dad lol

CD singles was like a dollar more when they started💯 tricking my Gramma into buying me snoop and cypress hill and house of pain and Coolio and Warren g regulators was my first rap joints I was 8 when the chronic dropped in 92 so I jumped into hip hop cuz of MTV , 💯 my mom woulda been one of them moms burning huge piles of rap music on the street corners if she wasn't working 70 hours weeks.....u remember that shit on the damn news? them attacking rap calling it ALL 'gangsta rap' for shock value to scare mothers n grandmother's???? that was sum bullshit bro, it's like Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer bring rap to the whole world biggest selling rap artists then the chronic n Doggystyle drop and suddenly every mom in America is scared of their kids listening to rap😅 shit wasn't even bad back then unless u were listening to like spice 1 or too short or brotha Lynch or the bloods n Crips tapes. honestly. I mean yeah they said h0ez n btches n what not but shit yo, imagine them listening to some Chicago drill from 2014 when the war n disrespect was at its worst😅 or have em hear some YoungBoy lyrics😅 they'd have a damn heart attack or somethin😅
This is a bit of a shame, man. Around the @14:00 mark when the subject of Marvin Prince came up. This dude wouldn’t have a career at all if it wasn’t for Prince. I went to Ajax High School with Marvin. We lived about a minute walk up the street from eachother and hung out a good bit. He’d play me demos of this crazy Irish white dude he met that sounded Jamaican. We were pretty close friends so he’d tell me about pretty much everything that was goin on with the two of em. The house parties, New York with Shan, the Arsenio thing, the tours, etc. Then eventually told me the entire sad story of how he got completely cut off and done dirty by Snow and the people around him. The crazy lawsuit…everything. Marv had a HUGE part in this cat’s career. His own mother said so herself in the documentary you can find on TH-cam. Praised and credited Prince for what he did for her son. So shittin on him on Vlad is pretty uncool, man.

I like this guy! I had no idea how cool Snow actually is. What a humble, talented, down to earth good dude.
Been pumping anything for you since the beginning, my favorite song ever. Snows hits stand up to time and till this day make those party’s jump.
Amazing interview. What a legend
Till this day I can’t understand 98% of informer …. Jvhfthxybxyyfyc 😂 dope song !
“Lady with the red dress” - still a huge tune to this day ❤️❤️❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧💯💯💯💯
Informer so original it can never be replicated. Thanks for the interview
Dayum! I didn’t know Snow was as real as he is!!
Loved Snow in 1993 and still loving him 29 years later. I N F O R M E R 2022 ❤
Informer is a timeless banger.
Wow!!! Huge snow fan, have every CD, this has to be one of the best interviews ive ever seen. God bless you snow!!!
My God!!! This guy was a game changer in my life..takes me back to my 5th and 6th grade...I listen to Informer for years..I love this dude..I finally get to hear his story and on fucking VLAD TV!!! Thank you!!!!
Love him for all of the memories from the dance flor..it was war in Croatia 92/93.but we dance in "Veslo" Šibenik like there was no tomorow and no war ...Thanks mr.Snow❤
2mns in, we all know the song but how engaging is the man.
Edit: I could have listened to this interview for hrs more, great interview 👍
What a guy, absolutely humble and blessed. Ledge, one of the best interviews ive watched and i dont normally watch interviews this long but i watched from start to finish. He the man.
I always liked Snow, great artist, glad he's still with us.
I haven't watched a full interview in years-this was amazing. Great interview Vlad!
I only really knew the song "informer" by this dude. After this interview checked out his other tunes. Damn! What a talent! But seriously, what a humble, ego- free, nice guy. One of a kind in the music industry.
listen to Drunken Styles and have that bass up, just saying dude
I love that. And Bone was something else tho
Funny Marky Mark was with the shits too surprisingly lol
Look up his 60
Minutes interview
Bone 🔥
Nice One! The place was called Central..It is closed down now. We no longer have any Caribbean community centres
I met him briefly once in Toronto, a long time ago. Very nice guy.
I'm glad someone else pointed out that Dominic from England was the first white reggae artist who got love in Jamaica.
Shame the media painted him in the same light as Vanilla Ice, especially when this dude was the REAL deal. Great interview!
no they didn't. He chose to come on all the same shows and shit because that's where the attention and money is generated. And even vanilla ice was actually respected for his underground work. If people felt a certain type of way that's on them. And both artist had to deal with that.
You can dog vanilla ice all you want bubba but rap wouldn't be the same with out him 🤷 he litterly financed deathrow imagine rap with out deathrow 🤯
@@tommykahn2353 great point. You're absolutely right. Thanks for reminding me of that. 👍
Runway was the best til he dropped shame
I'm glad he's still at it. His shit blew up when I was like 10. Doesn't lie or skirt the truth it seems
My man snow, i had all his albums on loop, till this day...legal, girl I've been hurt, runway, murder love, Babylon, time, si we, he did so many great tunes, i just love this guy, and now when i saw the interview i respect him more BIG Up ❤️
Informer was big in Australia when it first came out here and I absolutely loved it 😊
That's true takes me back to the early 90s and the east coast of Australia.
Was big in NZ too 💗
This was a great interview.
Big up Snow 👊
Dude has a voice and a vibe for a mean ass hook. Much love from BC canada, I remember my buddy showing up to grade 4 in like 93 with a snow tape and that was the shit. We constantly got in shit for taking turns listening to it on his walkman in class.
Thanks for the shoutout too the Irish newfoundlanders snow!!! Newfie born & bred here! Can confirm they love drinking and fighting here! 💀😂
Snow is Amazing cause he doesn't claim reggae he just claims to love it. I know the neighborhood he grew up in its new condos now but there were nuff yaadies. My brother was one.
Snow mentioned Rap City which was a show that aired on Much Music📺
Jim Carrey’s skit on in living color of this dude is HILARIOUS
It likely ruined Snow’s appeal though.
Keep fighting and staying true to who you are. Peace ☮️ from Newfoundland
I could listen to this guy tell stories for hours...I've got a whole new appreciation for the music... Seems like a cool dude..
It still doesn’t change the inherent deficiencies of music after the first album. There’s a more fundamental reason why he couldn’t maintain his success.
Snow topped charts for six months with him shooting in the trail jail. Sending my love Amy❤✌️✊🇿🇦
Anyone else’s smile get bigger the longer the interview went on?
My dad went to High school with Snow! He always said that’s his real voice he ain’t just putting it on for the song (informer) 😂 legendary interview tho vlad it would mean the world to me if you could get my dad back in touch with snow sometime, he even said he probably would remember him too
Of course that's his real voice lol that was never in doubt did you listen to this interview? Lol and I seriously doubt Vlad is gonna go thru his comments and say hey snow Lucas bonner wants you to get in touch with his dad lol
This is historical shiii!
Love this dude. Thanks for the interview.
This boy is nice.Snow we love you man,Yardy for life.
Dope Interview, never knew much about Snow till now. Respect 💯🙌
On my mama I love this dudes vibes. Real good brotha
I bought his first 2 records so many times. They were damn good. Didn't know a ton about this guy, but I like him. Pretty cool man . Love the fact he's true. That's extremely commendable these days!
Snow has changed into Sgt. Slaughter.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The OG irish 🇯🇲 version
GOOD ONE 🤣🤣👍👍
That chiiiin
I looooooooooove Snow! He is so raw; so real; so authentic.
Snow is a real one this hour interview went by so fast
Thinking the same thing...part 2/3/4 needed for sure 👍
I would love to spend a couple of days hanging out with Snow.. He's the type of person who can have fun doing anything.. I've been a fan since I heard informer for the first time, way back when I was a youngster.. I have a lot more respect for him now after hearing his story.. Thanks for doing this interview Vlad..
Snow...if you ever read this, you are definitely invited to the BBQ my brotha....much love from a real one to another👍👍💪❤
STILL have my VINYLS FROM 90.S til NOW 2022..BIG UP Snow
First cass/single I bought was Snow/Girl I’ve been hurt side B. Champion Sound. One of my favorite songs and artist of the 90’s. Thank you Snow for that Champion Sound. Much respect.
cassette singles was the SHIT yo!
usually a dollar sometimes $1.99 .
CD singles was like a dollar more when they started💯
tricking my Gramma into buying me snoop and cypress hill and house of pain and Coolio and Warren g regulators was my first rap joints I was 8 when the chronic dropped in 92 so I jumped into hip hop cuz of MTV , 💯 my mom woulda been one of them moms burning huge piles of rap music on the street corners if she wasn't working 70 hours weeks.....u remember that shit on the damn news? them attacking rap calling it ALL 'gangsta rap' for shock value to scare mothers n grandmother's???? that was sum bullshit bro, it's like Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer bring rap to the whole world biggest selling rap artists then the chronic n Doggystyle drop and suddenly every mom in America is scared of their kids listening to rap😅 shit wasn't even bad back then unless u were listening to like spice 1 or too short or brotha Lynch or the bloods n Crips tapes. honestly. I mean yeah they said h0ez n btches n what not but shit yo, imagine them listening to some Chicago drill from 2014 when the war n disrespect was at its worst😅 or have em hear some YoungBoy lyrics😅 they'd have a damn heart attack or somethin😅
Toronto represent! Deep roots here...much love to Snow in Tha Six!
Can see he is genuine person 🇯🇲
7:50 when he gave the guy a kick… buurruumm… yo I’m in tears 😭😂
What did Snow do? I dont really know much about that story.
If it wasnt for Marvin, Snow would either be in prison, dead or living in social housing.
@@ChojinLove Marvin Prince is the one who gave him a career. Snow is just a liar. Snow is giving the impression he did it all by himself. If Snow did everything by himself, HOW did he reach NEW YORK? OR WHY WAS HE GOING TO NEW YORK????
A+ interview. I am the same age as snow growing up mocking him. But now I feel foolish as this man of humbleness. Bless you Snow
Ran into “Shan”. How the hell could he just happen to record a banger with MC Shan with no experience. This is a crazy story.
Hey , All a gift from the "Big Man " above.
@@uchoward1ify It seems this is how it happens. For real some people just get lucky AF and we can only praise Jesus for that.
hands down my favorite artist to this day !!!!!
Serious?
@@joshrobinson6785 can't be. Just got a lil too hype and capp'd for the comment
