F-22 Raptor ✈️ Thrilling Flights, Fast and Slow, Exciting Maneuvers!

  • Flying at RACBSA is always really refreshing for me, particularly for flying EDFs, thanks to its beautiful landscape, wide flight box and paved runway.
    This airfield lends itself much more to low altitude flybys, knife edges and other similar maneuvers. Not having the hill with the forest from my other club right in front gives me quite some freedom to experiment with different flight routines! ^^
    Earlier that day it was a bit windy so I flew a bit faster than usual to accommodate but these flights were carried out more towards sunset day and the air was calmer which allowed me to lower my safety altitude and get some really cool shots with the mountainous background :)
    Shameless plug: if you want to contribute to my work, please consider having a look at some of my merch! ;)

    These were flights 158thrd to 162nd on 'Scarlett'.

    Empty Weight: Around 3100g (w/o battery)
    TOW: Around 3900g

    EDF: Stock Freewing 90mm 12-Blade
    Servos: (All stock)

    - 2x 17g Digital metal gear
    - 6x 23g Digital metal gear
    Landing Gear: Electronic retractable with all metal shock absorbing struts
    Receiver: FrSky X8R, using 12 channels so far (user choice)
    Gyro: Hobby Eagle A3S3 (added as a mod)
    Separate UBEC: TGY 8-15A (added as a mod)
    Receiver battery: Rhino 2S 500 and 610mAh (added as a mod)
    Main battery packs: (All weighing around 800g combined)
    - HRB 2x 4S 4200mAh 50C
    - Turnigy Nanotech 2x 4S 3300mAh 70C
    Mind that although most of the jet is stock, I performed several modifications. Removed the infamous Blue Box and wing ribbon wires, passed individual leads to wing servos, mixed them all separately, removed pilot figure and nose gear light, installed a HE A3S3 gyro (which required physical servo reversing one stabilator servo, inverting motor and pot wires), added a green LED to make a fake HUD reflection effect, airbrushed the canopy to make it look more golden, like the full-scale one. Need to pick the sun at the right angle to show up though!
    More details on my setup coming (soon?)!

    This is among the best F22 rc jet video... In term of flying skills, camera works and location.. We can clearly see the detail of the plane during flying.
    Less talking.. Viewers can listen to the edf sound and can estimate the throttle management.. Nice nice nice..

      Actually, TH-cam pushes creators to do more talking in their videos, but I kinda like them better this way. It's not for everyone, I know, but I prefer there not to be distractions from the actual flight ^^

    Great stick work and did you ever post your flight control setup for the F-22? I have my Freewing F-22 on separates (I just pulled the signal wire from the blue box for each) and I've done Elevons. However, I'm not really happy with aileron coupling. It looks like you only have crow with the elevons at high deflection? Great videos and thank you!

    Great flying dude as always. The stabilators seem so move differentially (independent throws at a given time). That's because you have a gyro stabilizing via tailerons right? Sry if this is dumb question I have limited experience with bigger models and just started building my ARF Version of this.

    • @RC4ever
      @RC4ever  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, thanks!
      I have the tailerons set up for pitch and roll and besides they are gyro stabilized but despite the gyro being extremely useful, you can barely notice its corrections in the air. The flickering moves that you see in there are actually my own pilot inputs (which then the gyro smooths out). I find these jets often work better on 'impulse commands' rather than sustained stick deflections when operating at high angles of attack. Helps prevent departure from controlled flight. :)
      AKA: my fingers look like I have parkinson when I fly, lol.

    • @xXRapToRiXxGamer
      @xXRapToRiXxGamer ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RC4ever Ok thx, I am setting up mine currently with the Hobbyeagle a3 gyro but I cannot figure out how to tell the gyro I am using tailerons. I can setup taileron input on my transmitter but the gyro only corrects roll via ailierons and pitch via elevators. Is there a way to make the gyro correct roll on ailerons + tailerons and pitch on tailerons?

    Do you prefer this one or Jas 39 gripen?and why?

    • @RC4ever
      @RC4ever  ปีที่แล้ว

      This one. It is much more aerobatic (although the TV add on makes the Gripen compete), much more resistant to turbulent air and wing rocking, the jet is much more robust overal, easier to work with and achieve reasonable CGs, barely requires maintenance, has more power and acceleration while allowing for longer flight times, much more battery compartment space to work with, etc.
