    FINALLY! i've been waiting to see a video of this with no talking, no music, and no anything lol. it's also great to see that you did a good amount of flying NOT at wide open throttle. all these EDF guys fly them like RC cars, so its really nice to see an f-22 flying like a real f-22!

    You and I both know thrust vectoring on the 22 would be amazing, but it flies almost like it already has it with our setup.

      Right!
      It's missing the high alpha capability and the kulbits, because everything else is already spot on! :D

      @@EDF_FANatic It's not represented as 150 on my radio, but it's the equivalent full throws, so yes.

    One can really appreciate the airframes intrinsic design even more considering we are flying w/o the very sophisticated flight control systems of the real deal. Adding differential ruddering and rudder braking sweetens the model considerably. And no moral conflicts.

    • @Airguardian
      @Airguardian  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep!
      I didn't use rudder braking as I have the servos Y-wired so I can get them stabilized with the gyro, but everything else is highly mixed and customizable. Each wing surface has like 7 different lines of mixing to achieve different things, hahaha! :p

      @@Airguardian I hear ya, same here, fun stuff. I used Aura tricks for rudder diff retaining gyro. Less tendancy for rudder to push the nose down in a slow turns. Auras rule for such. Rudder braking retains gyro. Short field game changer. Rudders inward also adds up elevator authority. On the full size its also used to shorten takeoff, but on the model i dont notice much benefit there, she has so much elevator. Ruddbrake allows less elevator deflection in the flare, negating a bit of the flaps blanketing airflow. Offsets some pitch softness in deep alpha full flap flares. Additionally an ele to ele mix when flaps down to decrease expo in the up range only to retain a consistent feel. Rud-brake seems to help stabilize the approaches(?). Since you are a mix junkie, i mention. Enjoy your vids and how you push it!

    Your flat spins are so quick, are you using rudder when entering them ? I attempted one but I'm still using 100 rates not 150 so it didnt spin very fast. Is 150 rates necessary to spin as fast as you did ?😊

    • @Airguardian
      @Airguardian  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I sometimes use rudder, sometimes don't. But for the most part my spins are stab-driven... and yeah, the larger throws you use, the higher spin rate achievable, although I find it more appealing to spin slow. Spinning fast is easy. Holding a steady, scale-looking flat spin without coming out of it is not! ^^
      CG placement is paramount too!

  • @EDF_FANatic
    @EDF_FANatic ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is it possible to do these manoeuvres with stock servos ? You make the airframe seem so light. When I'm flying mine it feels heavy

    • @Airguardian
      @Airguardian  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm flying with stock servos! ;)
      That said, I think it's a good practice to replace the stab servos at least by some better quality, higher torque ones.

    • @Airguardian
      @Airguardian  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      CG plays a part in it. What's your CG? I'm at about 165mm, which helps the jet fly more nimble and aerobatic (and more twitchy, ofc). Oh, and thanks! :D

      The heavier you fly it, the worse it will perform, obviously.

      It will be less floaty.

      @@alexdrex12 Ouch, that's a wee bit too much if you ask me.
      I mostly fly 4200mAh 8S packs. The one 3300mAh I have lasts much less time, usually around 3 min instead of 4, and the pack suffers more.

      Full scale F-22 enjoys better lateral stability thanks to better airflow due to LERX induced vortices at high angles of attack. At model scale, the airflow doesn't work so good there.
