I don’t know how new he is to flying or anything but as someone who has had this jet for quite some time, I will say that it likes a lower approach for the lower speed in landing. I had similar experiences with a F16 80mm the first few times landing. It just did not want to slow down. And, being a maiden, I didn't want to come in to slow. I found out that, being a quasi-delta wing, it needs a nose up approach right before the runway to slower her down and land on the mains. Looks like the F22 would be the same thing. The F22 is probably going to be my next one. Thanks for the video.

Great video... If your video is shot straight through which I believe it is that's roughly a 5min flight time. Which is pretty awesome. I was wondering if you had happened to do a battery check to see what your percentage left was. Those SMC batteries look interesting.
Thanks Billy! I have the plane now and been doing testing. Same setup with mixed acro flying and some passes. Mixed acro flying and some full throttle passes. 4min on throttle and 4:30 in air comes down at 3.85
I rarely use full flap on my F-22. Half flap is more than enough. You gotta get that nose up on final. The plane will show nicely. It's real floaty, even on 8s.
Does anyone know the actual size of this plane? from the video it looks nothing like the 1:13 scale they say on the buy site. Buy site says "~60in" thats supposed to be 5ft, but still it doesnt look 5 feet, looks near 3-4 ft, like itd just pass the top of that table if stood up on tail. Wish there was a picture with a scales showing the length/ width
1. Well, this is a classic example of why I start shooting approaches as soon as I get the plane trimmed well enough that I’m comfortable. And if I make a good approach, I land. If it bounces, I’ll go around and try again. 2. With an AR8360T in it, I’d set up SAFE mode and probably do the takeoff and landing in SAFE mode. It makes for a worry-free flight, provided you know how to preflight a gyro. 3. My F-22 is a 6S and I put a 6000-6S in the center of the battery compartment. It takes very little forward stick to fly level inverted. It feels neutral compared to my other jets. 4. I have some videos of mine on my channel, but I haven’t made a blog about it on RC Groups like I have some of my others. There’s really not much difference in the setup of my EDF’s, but I’m sure I moved the pushrods in a hole or two on the servo arms on my F-22. 5. I hope Mike’s isn’t hurt too bad. It’s a great flying plane. On final, I use the elevator to set a nose up angle of attack and the throttle to control the descent rate. I add throttle if I’m going be short of the touchdown point and take some out if it’s too high or going to land long. I try not to touch down more than 1/4th of the way down the runway.

@@BDTennessee 2. My 73 year old eyes sometimes need help seeing fighters. SAFE also takes care of most trim issues. It really helps on my EC-1500 cargo plane. Since the receiver's flight modes are on my rate switch, I can go from low rates to SAFE in a heartbeat. And I can jump back to low rates to check the trim or do aerobatics. 3. Liperior 6000-6S-65C that weighs 880 grams.
Interesting video and very well made, thx for sharing. Would you say that the F22 UP is a harder bird to fly and land then the Viper 90 from Eflite ? Those are my top two birds on the Fighter Jet list for future purchase, so interested as to your opinion when you compare these two with regards to flight characteristics and speed.
F22 typically should be a easier jet to fly, especially for a fighter jet.. F22 lands high alpha and floats in. Viper comes in more like a sport jet. Thrust and Speed goes to Viper 90mm. F22 has wider flight envelope with amount of lift and since its almost a 3D Fighter jet. Viper feels more precise and tighter...
It will float in nicely,no need for speed. I think it came in hot also with the batteries to forward.that in itself will create bouncing.hope you get it back in the air soon man.
Not on this maiden. Mike said was still too sensitive and only using half flaps didnt slow down not bringing the nose up... I did the remaiden with settings i used before and was simple. Side note: I have setup F-22 with those features too...

But the other direction you have a the valley and a long clear approach which you could maintain a much lower slower approach angle to allow time to bleed off the speed. Landing jets is hard.
I wasnt the Pilot on this one. We fly over both sides all time. F22 just overwhelmed him some i think and several mistakes were made. Remaiden was done and he flies no problems now.

Dam coming in way to hot... That's a great way to destroy a new 600 dollar jet . Start with the 64mm then you will have a better idea of how she floats in so slow...
This is not a plane that you want to use flaps for landing. You really need to learn to high AoA to effectively slow this plane down while maintaining directional control with rudder. If you choose to use flaps for landing, I don’t suggest using anything more than Take Off flaps.
I land mine with full flaps all the time and it still lands nose high. I have to keep some power on it so that it doesn’t slow down too quickly and quit flying.

You can run in same location. Along the fuselage mounted upright next to the blue box is another good option.

I did the remaiden for Mike. Simple and easy. However i have flown them in the past too.
