      It's good to hear from you and thanks for commenting. I'm not sure what you are asking, but I generally use two cables, the USB and the CI-V. The USB cable can be used for CAT in N1MM and the CI-V can be use for rig control on something else like, WSJT-X. I have also used Virtual Serial Ports Emulator (VSPE) to share a port between two programs. I hope this helps. GL and Good DX!

    Rich, watch the great instructional video. Here is my question, do I need to connect to the Lan port in order for the remote to work? Or can I connect to the WIFI here in the shack. Also, does having the Win4IcomSuite complicate this set up.

      Hi John, good to hear from you and thank you so much for commenting. I have my cable modem in my ham shack and I can connect to it with a ethernet cable from my radio. I can then use wireless to connect with my laptop and RS-BA1. Most of the time I am using the LAN. When I am out of the house I can still use my laptop and connect to the radio, because I have my router configured to allow outside connections. I’ll do a video on that coming soon. I don’t know about the suite. Take care and good luck. Good DX and best 73!

    Hi there Richard, Patrick PD1PRV here from The Netherlands. I'm using my 7610 remotely (radio directly connected to the internet without the use of a computer). My question: I don't get to see the scope on my remote computer! When I click on scoop the RS-BA1 (vs2) says "to use this function, connect using a LAN cable or USB cable set at 115200 bps" but I have done that! How do you use your radio remotely...connected to a computer or also directly on the internet (internet cable at the back of the radio). Thx Patrick

    I'm wondering how fast is your computer ? how fast is the rs232 set to 115k ? or more. reason i ask is the water fall has a horrible lag, and that is the ONLY reason I would waste money on it. thank you for doing the video I enjoy all your videos EDIT: never mind I asked before the end when you said LAPTOP. that explains that

      Hello and thank you for the question. Yes it is my little laptop (celeron) that is causing the lag. I was running the screen capture software at the same time which was slowing it down. Normally it looks just fine. Thank you and best 73!

      Hi James, nice to hear from you and I hope everything is well where you are. I haven’t used it in quite a while but I remember right you can use the CW memories and you can also use the keyboard for entering characters and sending CW that way. Just change modes on the radio and go to View and CW Keyer. The RC28 would come in handy while operating remote. A good source of information is on Facebook and the RSBA1 Facebook group. I hope this helps a little and this winter I will try it out from Arizona. It should work FB. Take care, be safe and best 73!

    Hi Rich! Always enjoy your videos. What are your thoughts on this software which I would use for my IC-7300? I go to Denver twice a year and would like to bring remote capabilities with me. Do you have to keep paying to use this software like the HRD? It is more money but coming from ICOM it has to be pretty specific to their line of radios I am guessing.
    Thanks

      1crazynordlander thank you again for commenting and watching these videos. I sincerely appreciate it and I appreciate your comments.When you that software it’s yours and they just did a recent update. RS-BA1 is good software and it works, but you will need to have a computer attached to your 7300 and have the software loaded on it as well as on the laptop that you use remotely. I think maybe another solution is remotehams.com. I have not tried it but I know other guys are using it with the radio. The same would apply with having a computer connected at the station. Have you considered the ICOM 7610? It has the server software running on it and that makes it a little easier. 73 from Tucson Arizona!

      @@HamRadioAdventures I will consider the IC-7610 down the road in a few years. I am 61 and just got into had radio. I have a ton of computers as this has been my trade for the past twenty seven years. I do tech support for two small public schools in my area. I take that if I get this software I can use it for the IC-7610 down the road as long as I us it for one instance at a time.

      Good question and I am sorry I didn't catch that. That was probably the screen recording software. The screen recorder taking up CPU caused it. No issues when running it normally.

      Hi Tom, nice to hear from you and I got it setup a long time ago, but never used it outside the home.
      My issue with operating from a remote location is the wx. In the summer I would never leave town without disconnecting my antennas. We have too many bad electrical storms in SD.
      Now that it's winter, it's safe. Let me try it out in a coffee shop in town and I'll do a video on it and how RS-BA1 is working. I have a wireless headset to test out too.

      Hi Ray nice to hear from you. That’s a really good question and I believe so in the software you can change between Ant1 and Ant2. I haven’t use the software in a long time, but I hope to be using it more in the very near future. I think I’ll upgrade to the latest. I was a little put off because I just bought this version and then they came out with v2 without having an upgrade path. Happy new year and best 73!

    Question 1. Why "USB" versus "ACC" in the DATA OFF MOD setting ? 2. Why 19200 baud rate instead of 'auto" in CI-V Baud Rate ? 3. Why "echo back ON " in CI-V ?
    More later . Thanks de Andy K3UK

    • @SouthernManinDakotas
      @SouthernManinDakotas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Andrew O'Brien I am using a USB cable and nothing on the accessory port. 19200 is the fastest for CI-V baud rate. CI-V USB Baud is set to 115200. I have echo back on because other programs I use need it on. Do not know if it is needed for RS-BA1 or not, but maybe so. There is an excellent RS-BA1 group on Facebook. I hope this helps Best 73!

    • @sdl1959
      @sdl1959 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the original version also but became confused after downloading the latest updates from Icom for that version. "The Icom Remote Utility" IS version 2.00 so I thought that would get me the second bandscope. The radio control GUI is 1.96 though. I see on their website now that previous owners of RS-BA1 are not grandfathered in to version 2.00. That's version 2.00 of the entire package. Looking at the price of the new package in addition to what I've already spent on RS-BA1, I don't guess I really need the second bandscope after all.
