    Captain Darren … Nice job but you should have shown the “Port Forwarding” required on the Internet Router to the 7610. Also if using DHCP you should go into the router and “Reserve” the address assigned by DHCP to the 7610 or else there is a chance the router can assign a different address to the 7610 when dhcp expires at which point the RS-BA1 Remote device will not be able to connect and establish a session.

      Yeah, you're right. I don't have a static IP address and then one day I tried to connect and it didn't work because the IP address changed. I had to wait until the next time I came home to update the IP address.

      @@DarrenN4VFR if you go into your router configuration it should allow use to “Reserve” the address in dhcp so the 7610 always gets the same ip. If you statically assign it instead of using DHCP Reservation you must make sure it’s NOT in the DHCP pool of addresses otherwise you will get conflicts. Best is to “reserve” in dhcp on your router - VA3VMD….. Vito

    Thank you for the great video. One thing that's not clear is that you said the 7610 has a built-in server. Do I need to have a Windows computer running in the shack when I want to operate remote, or do I just need a Windows computer at the remote location?

    Thanks for the video. I have an IC-7610 incoming this week... A couple questions: You said you have Macs, but your video shows PC... Are you using Boot Camp or something on your Mac? Also, your network address for the 7610 was a local IP address (192.168....) Wouldnt this need to be a WAN address when you're connecting from Dallas? Thanks again, 73!

    • @DarrenN4VFR
      @DarrenN4VFR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Chris Miller sorry for the confusion. I use the built in Server feature on the IC7610 which doesn't require a computer to remote into the IC7610. The RSBA1 version 2 is not Mac compatible.
      With regards to the IP address, you will enter the local IP address to your network i.e. 192.168.x.x. When you use the RSBA1 software within your LAN, you can enter the 192.168.x.x in the RSBA1 However, trying to reach the IC7610 from a remote location say like from a friend's house or even when tethering from my mobile phone you will need to use the WAN access. In my case thats 99.99.x.x.

      @@DarrenN4VFR But why didn't you go with the SDR-Control software for the Mac instead of resorting to windows.

    Thanks for the video I’ll have toget my radio working remote as never done it yet , hopefully can work the radio from my iPhone if this is possible ! Am terrible with computer stuff 👍

    • @DarrenN4VFR
      @DarrenN4VFR  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You won't be able to run remote on your phone to the IC7610. It requires a windows computer with the RSBA1 installed on to the windows computer, the you'll be able to remote in. For example, I'm in Phoenix right now. I can use my laptop and remote in to my IC7610 which is physically in Jacksonville, FL. A computer does not need to be connected to the IC7610. There is already a built in server in the IC7610.

    • @DarrenN4VFR
      @DarrenN4VFR  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No. It requires the RSBA1 software Nd thats why I'm buying a Flex SDR.

    Hi, thank you for the video. I am now considering arranging a remote connection to IC-7610. What is confusing me is the set-up manual of RS-BA1. It says that you need to port-forward #50001 through #50003 even with your client PC. As far as I could observe, you seem not to do such a thing for you can access your IC7610 from a hotel! Would you please advise me if I really need to open the ports for the client PC to operate the rig through the internet? Thank you, de JH9LYC

    • @DarrenN4VFR
      @DarrenN4VFR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Toshiya Mihashi Yes, you will need to port forward 50001 through 50003. I did them for both the client computer and also my laptop that I take with me during my travels.
