    I loved watching this gradually unfold and I am looking forward to having ago using watercolour paper. Your demonstrations are truly a pleasure to watch as they are so informative and helpful. I look forwarded to seeing the watercolour wash on this. Many thanks for sharing. All of your work is really lovely. Thank you again.

    Your work is stunning! One day I'm going to buy a cottage in Norfolk and spend my days drawing. You are living the dream! Enjoy and keep up the good work smoothie, I love watching you.

      Thank you Suzanne, I hope you find a nice cottage in Norfolk, its a beautiful place and an artists paradise, I would love to live there too, had lots of great holidays there, its always very inspiring.

      smoothie77 oh I jumped to conclusions and thought that was where you already live. I’ve looked a few cottages and even a church but haven’t been brave enough to make the move yet. Next year I think it will happen tho. North Norfolk has captured my heart!
      I’ve never seen anyone draw the way you do and it’s wonderful to watch but would be even better if some of that talent would rub off lol thank you for the lessons. I’m totally hooked!

      Oh that's ok I probably give the impression I live there because I often draw, paint, and talk a lot about it lol, Yes North Norfolk for me too! its the best, once you've been there it gets into your soul, spent many family holidays there and always want to go back, I hope it happens for you and you live your dream, its always been my dream too, and many other peoples too lol, its a magical place!

    Another bootiful drawing. So nice to see Local East Anglian scenes used. Lochs, mountains and rocky shores featured in so many artists videos don't mean much to me here in the flat counties! Thanks for a great video again.

      +Linda Jenkins You're welcome Linda, thanks for commenting, I love Norfolk its an artist paradise, I have had many holidays there, hopefully I will have many more, its such an inspiring and beautiful place, I cant resist drawing and painting all the picturesque scenes it has to offer.

    Amazed at watching you draw these pieces. Preparing for the painting. It's all in the prep. You have made me want to start again with watercolour, I have never really been able to master this medium. Thanks for your video's which give me inspiration.

      You're welcome Alison, I'm glad the videos are inspiring you, I always struggle with watercolours too and depend on the pencil drawing to do most of the work, it makes the whole process a lot easier, tone work and detail are all done, just a few washes of colour to finish off. Thanks for the nice comment.

    • @AL9862
      @AL9862 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree, that is where I was struggling. As I said, its all in the prep. If the drawing is good with plenty of detail, the rest will follow on easier. Thanks again.

      Thank you my friend, it's good to be back drawing again, not picked up a pencil in three weeks so I'm still a bit rusty, thanks for the kind words.

      @horrorfan24 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +smoothie77 Yes, if I can't use my brushes for a few weeks it's awful and then you do feel very rusty. I completely get where you're coming from. Art is probably one of the most addictive passions you can have.

    The audio is better now. Again a great drawing. Hope your shoulder continues to improve. I am looking forward to your video on drawing grasses. I seem to have a very difficult time with nature (trees, grasses, ivy...), I struggle to make them look natural.
    I know this does not sound like a compliment, ( I mean it in the best possible way) but it did me good as the beginner I am, to see you have to erase several times. It is encouraging to know I am not the only one who has to fix mistakes. Thanks again and I will be looking forward to your next video

    • @smoothie77drawingpainting
      @smoothie77drawingpainting  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Christopher Hasty Thanks for the kind words Christopher. I certainly make my fare share of mistakes:) and I understand what you're saying. seeing someone else making mistakes helps us to not feel so bad about our own. the eraser is obviously a great tool for removing mistakes, but its also a great tool for drawing with, I couldn't be without it, its so useful for highlighting and softening areas, its as important as the pencil in my view. Thanks for taking the time to comment,

    • @christopherhasty5493
      @christopherhasty5493 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +smoothie77 Thank you for the response to my comment. I have gone back and watched a good many of your videos after subscribing. I have seen you use the eraser to draw, with great results. However, I am hardheaded, therefore, a slow learner. :) Unfortunately, I'm like my kids. I watch your video, you say something important, I nod in agreement, then go about my way, making mistakes.

    Hi, love your work, thank you for your lovely demos! However, I'm a beginner to 'art' and trying to understand perspective, you make the drawing look so easy but I'm struggling with it. I particularly like pen and wash, or straight watercolour but I have such a lot to learn when it comes to drawing! Thanks again.

      Thanks for the nice comment Kathleen, hopefully I cover the topic of perspective a bit more in future videos.

    Hi smoothie! Another beautiful work of art again and you never fail to impress :) The kneedable eraser you use, is it blutac?
    BTW a quick message for you and your viewers...
    If you are never sure what paper is best for what ever type of scene you want to draw and you are using Daler Rowney paper (in my experience) send them an email, as they sent out several samples of paper to see what I found best :)
    Cheers for that smoothie, because you were using Daler Rowney.

    • @smoothie77drawingpainting
      @smoothie77drawingpainting  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Agui007 Hi Agui007, the kneedable eraser is Winsor & Newton, although I do use blutac as it does the same job. Thanks for the info regarding Daler Rowney paper samples, I'm sure my viewers will appreciate the info, as do I, I'm going to email them and see if they will send me a few samples, many thanks :)

      And of course what is one of the first photographs I find, but your watercolour landscape, I’ve taken a screen shot with my iPad and hope that will work lol

      And now the pencil drawing, I will exercise artistic license and leave off the title banners I think. Thats when I get round to doing it

    Hi Smoothie, I thought your original was good. I would have left it as a place where cows/sheep congregate to be fed or go out of the gate. The ground always gets muddy there. It would have looked really authentic, but it turned out nicely anyway. (As always) Thanks for the video.

    • @smoothie77drawingpainting
      @smoothie77drawingpainting  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome Andy, and thank you for commenting, I'm just pleased I didn't totally ruin it, I never thought of turning it into a muddy area with a gate etc.

    Sound is better but you still need to speak out loud :-)

  • @lindaholmes8350
    @lindaholmes8350 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please please please speak louder. I find it very frustrating trying to hear you and it detracts from the drawing experience. I would like to join your Petreon..but I'm afraid I won't be able to hear you. Thanks so much. Love your work.

    • @smoothie77drawingpainting
      @smoothie77drawingpainting  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a very quiet video, the newer ones are a lot louder, have a look at the newer ones see if they are ok for you?

  • @lindaholmes8350
    @lindaholmes8350 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi. You mentioned on here that the sound would be better with your new lap top...but it isn't.
    My speakers are turned full up and you are just a whisper....Have to concentrate too much on hearing you instead of learning from you. Very frustrating .
