This reminds me of a project I did in school. We had to build cars out of cardboard that we would later ride for physics class. I spent a long time building that thing and then I spent several hours painting a mural on it for decoration. When I took it to class I got a nice reaction from my teachers and classmates and it performed well, but after class some of my classmates began to beat up their cars with the wooden sticks that we had used for the axles of the wheels. It looked really fun. I remember looking down at the car which I had worked so hard on, and being indescive. And then before I knew it, I was beating the thing with a stick as hard as I could. It was like a piñata. All of that beautifully painted cardboard ripped and crumbled under the hot sun and it felt cathartic and amazing. I remember a friend came and helped me and we had a good time. All art ends up being ephemeral sooner or later, and besides, what was I going to do with a large cardboard car sitting in the middle of my house? This way it at least went out with a bang.
This channel is a masterpiece itself. Your eye for detail, refined taste and vision and how you convey it, how you execute it, the effort you put is beyond. Very aesthetically and visually pleasing, your channel and personality draw me in. I love how you are completely comfortable with yourself and your audience, how you feel free to express and expose yourself and your vulnerability as a human being and as an artist. This channel is super cozy indeed and feels like a safe space where you can get a dose of peace and inspiration.
@Lisabëth Rosemõon Magical Drawings hey your comment is so comforting, and i know that is ironic but i just know that you are so destined for the greatest things, thanks for puttting this out there. i am sure good things and only good things will come to you, and one day when you do open up your oracle, i will be so happy to see you shine and glow, standing by you always beautiful
i have to say i don't generally watch "vlogs" as i think people glamorize too much their own life. it feels a bit like a reminder of how a social media works, everyone's life is perfect, but mine. however, by this video only, i can see how much you go completely out of this idea! the subject of the video being something so personal makes you look so cool
I am over 70 and a hobby painter. I see Valerie as a unique person in this time period. We are all rushing , rushing, rushing and preforming. Even I try to keep up with the young! She has a beautiful soul. So much talent and passion. Love this channel. Thank you 🙏 sweet women.
Seeing the painting being destroyed is painful to watch but it offers a valuable lesson in letting go. Focusing on what we can gain from the experience will help us move on and grow. ✨ You are right, "After every low comes a rise." 🌱🧡
This was an important lesson I learned from a friend many years ago. Don’t be afraid to destroy what you have made. I must admit it can take me a long time to destroy. I prefer to keep some as a record of progress. Others I just use in other work. Rather as a base or parts.
This is such an important topic, especially for artists. This video made me feel better about trusting my decisions and my feelings towards what I really want to make. Also, whoever narrated this video has such a calming voice, I loved it! Looking forward to seeing more of your videos ^-^
It feels like the perfect message. Sometimes crying and struggling and being unable to stop and start over due to the fear of beginning a new work. Thank you for creating such an amazing video with such an amazing message.
It's curious how even a canvas destroying video can look so sweet! You sincerely looked like you were saying goodbye to a friend. I loved the whole concept of the video, the fact that it doesn't feel right every time. Thanks for recording stuff like that, it's perfect by itself. Stay safe! We love you

Wow Valerie, I loved the touch of the narration for this video, your content is really impactful. 😊 You are so meticulous and detail-oriented in your process that it truly inspires me to keep refining my skills and to get to know myself better as an artist in spite of sometimes just wanting to give in to instant gratification.
Glad I’m not alone. Letting go without feeling attached to anything is freedom. Failure is not who you are. It is an experience. And learning from your failure makes you a better artist. Thank you for this reminder.
I could not have destroyed a painting I worked so hard in! You are a very wise person! Let go and move on. It takes a lifetime for most people to figure that out AND be able to actually do it! Amazing!
What is beautiful about your work and many artists is that a lot of the people in your paintings look a lot like yourself. I think as an artist this is a natural phenomenon!
I just found you account and wow…looking through your eyes on how you view things has inspired me to pick a paintbrush after a year of not painting, I have had hard time and just felt like my art was never good enough or I felt no joy in it after a long time, watching this video has shown me that all incredible artists feel this way occasionally. Thank you and I will continue to support you < 3
Exactly we all have ups and downs :) So happy you picked up your brushes after a whole year, omg❣️. Thank you for telling me Kayla. I will continue for sure 🌷
First of all, I must say that I've just found this channel and it is everything that I need right now. Art has always been in my life, even if I didn't give it its rightful importance and realized how good it made me feel each time I created it. Somehow I never lost this precious feeling towards it. And so, because this channel has art at its core, I couldn't ignore the beauty in it. So thank you, Valerie Lin, you made my day. You know art isn't everything in life, but it might be everything to someone else, and that itself is so inspiring to see. Especially the devotion but also the ups and downs that you go through in your videos. I adore the truthfulness and commitment that you give to them. It makes me feel human too. So I'm grateful Valerie. Truly!
'' Art has always been in my life, even if I didn't give it its rightful importance and realized how good it made me feel each time I created it. Somehow I never lost this precious feeling towards it.'' I really relate to this sentence as well as your comment as a whole. I'm 12 and as far as I can remember, I always loved art and anything creative. I've been drawing since I was 3 or maybe even younger but thats when I gained consciousness. it always been a huge part of me and I was always known as the art kid in my class. even though I never tried to learn more about art and improve until last year, I've realized that back then I was able to throw y art in the trash without a thought and was much more free when drawing. It is one thing I want to learn again and I admire my past self for it. This video made me realize that so thank you Valerie for the video. keep creating y'all.
I definitely needed to see this. I've been struggling with a painting for days now and I just feel uncomfortable making it and I'm not even excited to work on it. I'm gonna let it go 💕
I messed up my art piece and was held on to trying to make it seem more comfortable and vibey. I wasn't able to let go, until I got your video recommended Valerie! Thankyou so much! 😊♥️♥️ You taught me that sometimes, it's much better to let go!✨
This is absolutely magical!!!!! I felt giddy the entire time!!!! I love how you edited this video, the male narrator and the entire message behind it! You’re so talented!!!💕
Wow! This felt like a Fairy Tale. So much beauty in it. Even it has a moral: nothing ever gets destroyed in this Megaverse, it comes and goes in ever expanding consciousness and Beauty! Beautiful!!!!!
I just want to say THANK YOU! I have been dealing with a lot of in life and that has effected me in the worst way possible. I'm trying to recover but couldn't get myself back to painting (I'm a water colourist) But you just hit those notes which are helping me heal as an artist. Thank you so much for existing. And you are a great artist. Lovely work!
Watching all your videos over and over again, without skipping the advertisements because that's how much I love your contents ❤️ Happy Easter 2023, everybody
I loved it! ♥ From the music, editing, idea, to the main message. It is really hard to forgive yourself and dettach from your work. Not to mettion destroying it!! I learned something new today. It's OK not to like what you do and let go!! Thank you Valerie!!
For a clean palette I recommend using glass. I actually bought a cheap picture frame that already has the glass, put a grey midtone coloured paper underneath. Whenever I need to clean (which is often) I simply scrape it off with a glass cleaner blade. I also bought that for cheap from a hardware store. Very useful! And so satisfying when you are scraping the dried paint off. :)
I just did that two weeks ago too. I painted something and when I was halfway done I didn’t liked it much so I painted over it but when I finished I didn’t felt that the painting expressed enough. So I covered it with black now to paint something else and I hope this time it will work well 🥲
That was just beautiful and inspiring!!!! The music, the storytelling, the visuals, the lesson : just wow! I was sad that the video had to end haha. Kiss from France
I am so inspired by your work. In complete awe of your style of painting, choice of subjects, the emotions and depth you see in them, the way you render that in color and detail. And then the peaceful thoughts you share about your journey. all of it. so beautiful. thank you for sharing!!
The dramatic actor with the magical music was a beautiful addition to your video! I have never seen anyone do that for this kind of video (maybe I just do not watch enough videos), but it actually worked really well and was very creative. :)
Captivating story, Valerie. Thank you for sharing . I was surprised by the naration, that's new element :) Personally, I would have painted over the canvas or unstapled it from stretcher bars if the format is not fitting, but that's just part of me trying to save every bit of art supply. :) I Love your videos, always happy to see a new one. So much attention to detail. And the storytelling is amazing. Hats off to you, Valerie.
I always enjoy your videos and learn so much from listening to your voice as you work through the process of creating a new piece of artwork. I also love how you take care of your space, creating a pleasant environment to be in that is visually pleasing. Thank you for all of this.
I haven't watched it yet and I already feel it's gonna absolutely be worth it. Thank you for sharing yourself in this way, I know you've heard it before but you're such an inspiration
Wow I love this comment you explained everything perfectly, Valerie videos did exactly this to me too 🥺 I’m more in tune with myself I’m diving and exploring my essence quite often now
@@mei295 I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one feeling this and giving it a go-to painting. I've come to understand that if we feel this way, is because we are seeing ourselves in others and vice versa. We're more alike than we think
Oh my goodness watching you paint just takes my breathe away, to have this beautiful creative gift. I just adore your drawing and how gentle you create from you soul. I was feeling very sad and so grateful to see you. You have such feeling, I love your art work, so lovely & you. ❤️
whenever i hate my paintings, i destroy it and only feel the feelings of frustration, anger, hatred toward myself and the painting, and days of self-loathing. this video made me feel a certain calmness because you let us see a bit of your own thought processes. thank you so much!!! love ya!
Aw this come just in time, I really need this! 😭 So today I've been painting as usual and my mother said it turns out good but, I don't know.. I just don't feel it right and considering hard whether to keep it or destroy it. The video felt like an answer to me, it's coming handy! Thank you! (P.s: Also, massive love for your videos, artwork and self-reflections though ☺♡)
Usually ten minute videos seem too long, but Valerie makes things so amazing and the things she says are so meaningful that the videos go by so quickly. By the way Valerie, thank you very much, I've been watching your videos and they've been giving me ideas about the things I couldn't see. You're amazing :3
That's so true about feelings about painting, i think it's okey to cry or have bad emotions when you're in process because it gives much meaning to your work, or for me i prefer "memories". Cause i love to watch my paintings and remember such things like "oh, i watched this movie while i was painting this". Great video, have more inspiration!
Deine Videos sind fantastisch… dieses insbesondere, es fühlte sich an wie ein Minimärchen! Zudem sind deine Fähigkeiten faszinierend und das Video inspiriert zu neuen Experimenten!!
I found your channel a few days ago, I recently graduated from college with a science degree and have really been missing the art I used to do when I was younger. Trying again with this mindset that it's okay to fail, and to let go of things you've spent a lot of time on, really connects with me. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful video!
Thank God you destroyed it. You learned something today! ❤️ I feel happy cuz I'm constantly trying to get rid of my old books, notebooks, drawing. That means we're growing up and seeing things from a other perspective. Happy painting 🎨!
I'm so happy I found your TH-cam some weeks ago! I watched all of your videos and can't wait for new ones. Harmony and inspiration is what maybe describes best your videos. I recognise myself a lot 🙌🏽💕
I'm not sure why but your video makes me feel a strange disturbing feeling in the felt but pleasant at the same time, I feel serene, I feel calm inside when I watch your videos and I just admire your work .. thank you for this moment of inner peace ... 🙏🏽✨
This video's caption caught my eye, I was truly surprised. The thing is.....I make traditional and digital art, AND I also always destroy my art after making it. That's why even after all those years, a single drawing of mine cannot be found. I've always found a certain pleasure in seeing my paintings burn (it took weeks of hardwork) but it was never easy for me, it took great bravery. It's almost like strengthening or training your mind. I know it's a bit weird, but it has now become my favourite hobby :) It has also helped me to stay strong and go through some of the most despairing moments of my life.
same! I was lately painting random portraits too, failing more than painting. I never paint random things like I can’t, it has to have a personal side or some meaning, thanks for making me realize this again. I love your videos, it has this mysterious, fairytale vibe to it ❤️
I love this part about her, how she speaks so beautifully and expresses these feelings in her videos which are difficult for people to accept and failure is one of them. Hope you keep on making such contents. Stay safe, stay happy, and keep creating ♥️♥️
Bravo Valerie! Appreciate you showing us that we don't have to be precious about every artwork we make and to call it and let go is empowering. Thank you!
I can't believe you give me courage by to believe in myself also to paint and drawing.Such a good inspiration and I love it watching your videos .Thank you so much.
Sometimes vlogs are so boring but yours are totally amazing it's not like the other vlogs who put so much glamour to their lives that looks perfect. And here you are reflecting yourself to every video you make its very personal and accurate. At the same time I also learned from it. Thanks for sharing
i just got chills from this video. i struggle alot with trying to force myself to create, but this made me realise i shouldn't put that pressure on myself, and that meaning is more important than a good concept/composition. i need to put passion in what i do and not do it for the sake of creating. love your channel valerie!!
Your videos are like mini documentaries, I love the narrator voice touch as well! It makes it feel like a Disney movie or something and you are a beautiful creative princess 👸🏻
I can just say I found your channel too late. But now I cant resist myself watching your videos. I'm totally bingeing it from last week. I'm in love with your lifestyle, room and what else. Just loving!!! you go girl..💕

whenever i hate my paintings, i destroy it and only feel the feelings of frustration, anger, hatred toward myself and the painting, and days of self-loathing. this video made me feel a certain calmness because you let us see a bit of your own thought processes. thank you so much!!!
I really can't wait 😍
That's so true about feelings about painting, i think it's okey to cry or have bad emotions when you're in process because it gives much meaning to your work, or for me i prefer "memories". Cause i love to watch my paintings and remember such things like "oh, i watched this movie while i was painting this". Great video, have more inspiration!
PRO TIP: Attach wax paper or parchment paper to your pallet using binder clips. That way you won't have to clean it; just throw away the paper.
Deine Videos sind fantastisch… dieses insbesondere, es fühlte sich an wie ein Minimärchen! Zudem sind deine Fähigkeiten faszinierend und das Video inspiriert zu neuen Experimenten!!
You are doing a great job, perfect I'll say. Please keep on uploading videos.
These are real gems, MASTERPIECE!
I feel happy cuz I'm constantly trying to get rid of my old books, notebooks, drawing.
Kind wisdom. Thank you Valerie.
Sad its over! Such a beautiful world you have made for yourself, Valeri 🥰 love your artistic style and flare in everything else. Keep them coming
I AM OBSESSED!!!!!! THE CREATIVITY, COZYNESS, HARDWORK
It was a relief to see that some people, like me, are sometimes dissatisfied with their drawings.
Watching your videos is like getting natural therapy 🥺✨
Bravo Valerie! Appreciate you showing us that we don't have to be precious about every artwork we make and to call it and let go is empowering. Thank you!
I can't believe you give me courage by to believe in myself also to paint and drawing.Such a good inspiration and I love it watching your videos .Thank you so much.
Sometimes vlogs are so boring but yours are totally amazing it's not like the other vlogs who put so much glamour to their lives that looks perfect.
And here you are reflecting yourself to every video you make its very personal and accurate.
At the same time I also learned from it.
Thanks for sharing
and thank you for being here 🙏🏼
Welcome😊😊
Can't wait for your next vlog.
i just got chills from this video. i struggle alot with trying to force myself to create, but this made me realise i shouldn't put that pressure on myself, and that meaning is more important than a good concept/composition. i need to put passion in what i do and not do it for the sake of creating. love your channel valerie!!
Your videos are like mini documentaries, I love the narrator voice touch as well! It makes it feel like a Disney movie or something and you are a beautiful creative princess 👸🏻
Valerie's video is just what I needed right now
I can just say I found your channel too late.
But now I cant resist myself watching your videos. I'm totally bingeing it from last week.
I'm in love with your lifestyle, room and what else. Just loving!!!
you go girl..💕
