Hey, quick question. Should I reach out to wedding venues? I'm a solo keyboard player. Would be perfect for ceremony or cocktail. Maybe I need to reach out to other wedding performers? I am like a wedding opener lol
Hi Randy, I watch a lot of 'Reddit readers' and weddings seem to be one of those events where choosing beggars come out of the woodwork. Do you get a lot of people trying to trade music for, ahem, "likes", instead of money? Also, I was wondering if you had a group of regular 'wedding service people' who you work with, recommending each other to clients? Photographers, wedding planners, florists, etc.?
Ooooo good questions. Honestly, I’ve never really experienced people looking for cheap or free musicians. I know we’ve lost some gigs to some cheaper acts in the past, but honestly, for the amount of work Bailey and I put into it.. they can have it lol! Some brides are definitely looking for the cheapest, but I think most get their hearts set on something and go for it. I have a group of regular musicians and we all dish out gigs to one another. For instance, one of my friends is a pianist, but sometimes they want guitar, so he’ll send me the work. As for wedding service people, that can be HUGELY beneficial. My dad is an officiant in his retirement and he’s very busy, so he’s always recommending us. My family also just opened a wedding venue where we’re the “preferred music vender” on their website, and it’s already transitioned into a few gigs. The network is a really easy (and fun) way to get more gigs!
Who’s looking forward to wedding season?! 🎸🎤

@@randyrektor Thanks for the answers! I'm glad you don't get the "influencers" looking for free services!
