    My family bought me a Pixel 7 Pro to replace my easy to use small Flip Phone that had nothing wrong with it. It took me 2 months to figure out how to make a telephone call. Apparently there is no place around me that offers lessons in Smartphones (I am 85) but it sure would be nice because I will never figure out all of this stuff.

    I've had P7pro for about a month now and it's been great. I took a break from Android and had an iPhone for last five years and it's been so refreshing being back and this device has a perfect welcome back to Android for me. I was a nexus user and owned every one of those that came out. The pixel was definitely going to be my phone coming back to Android.

    I have no idea why people like Google phones so much, I bought the pixel 7 Pro, the battery was rubbish, its way too big, apps are sluggish and it doesn't even feel very premium to me, sent it back, Samsung are just way better

  • @gallienus172
    @gallienus172 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I've had a Nexus 5 a Pixel 3 and I'm currently using a Pixel 7 Pro. I've been very happy with all my phones and I really can't see switching to anything else. It's not so much the hardware or the cameras that I like but the software. I like the idea of pure unadulterated android with no skins or embellishments. Each phone that I bought I've purchased directly from Google. Nothing makes me grind my teeth more than the idea of verizon or ATT putting their apps on my phone then not letting me remove them. That's one of the things that annoys the hell out of me about my Tab 7a I think it is. There are samsung programs on there that I don't use and I will never use but I can't delete them. If I could I'd wipe the memory and put a risc version of linux on the tablet or a plain vanilla version of android, but I digress. For me the biggest selling point of the Pixel phones is the software and no extra crap from phone companies.

    I prefer the curved screen, they make the gesture navigation feel so much better in my opinion. Not to mention they just feel more premium to hold. I don't like the idea of Google getting potential praise for going back to utilizing a cheaper display. Think about it, sure if you drop your phone a lot they cost us more to repair...but that means it's a more expensive component. You already know Google aren't going to pass the savings of a flat display onto the consumer either

    My pixel 7 pro battery life in terms of SOT for QHD+ is around 5hrs(on average) and sometimes even 4. Changing it to 1080p helped me a lot. I get high 6hrs of SOT but it's still far from your experience. I've been using the phone for more than 1 month now. Something I've noticed is either some users get really good battery life or meh, quite interesting.

    • @ZachAnderson

      Yeah not everyone's usage is the same and on top of that, not every unit (phone/battery) is the same either. So it all depends. I average 7hrs comfortably, but like I said, it's more like 5.5-6.5 with heavy use.

      I mean I'm a power user, I drained the batteries on even my Samsung S20 Ultra back in the day. I've just learned that I will need to charge in my vehicle, at the office, and bring a charger or power brick if I'm going to be away from home for a day or more. While the Pixels do not last quite as long, I will say the adaptive charging is really nice to have and lengthens the lifespan of the battery. My S20s battery was amazing when I first got it but over time the battery degraded and saw results similar to what my pixel gets anyways. At least the pixel has been consistent and I don't feel the need to replace the battery.

    🧊It's September of 2024, and yes, I am in the market for a new phone, and yes, I'm eyeing on the Pixel 7 Pro. No, not everyone has the budget to snatch up latests and/or greatests.
    I have since watched 4 long-term reviews of this phone and I must say this was the best-written one there is. Whereas other reviewers would just go through their laundry list, I felt as though I was listening to a narrative of sorts while watching yours.
    I am convinced that I will get one (second-hand, of course) and your review definitely helped make the decision. Good work, sir, and hats off.

    The main thing that is helping this phone is that it has been on sale since it came out. At my job the 7 Pro was $499.99, but now 5 months later it is $399.99. Google is banking on users buying them cause they are on sale and upgrading them to a new on in the future. Plus they will making all of that money back by them selling their data. Just makes you question if the phone is really worth $900 when they keep selling it at the price of a 6A

    It's wild to me because the wired charging is just over 20 watts but it seems to get so warm when charging rapidly. I also feel like it's weird that the adaptive charging overnight will fast charge up to 80% and then just keep it there all night as opposed to charging at slower or regular speeds over a couple hours. Even when I have an alarm set it still fast charges every time when plugged in over night.

    3xl slaps, the notch was a non-issue and having the wide angle for selfies made it genuinely useful in lots of situations. Textured glass back was luxurious and the 1440p OLEF was great for content. Still mad about the bad rap it got from techtubers.

I'm definitely will stay with the upcoming Pixel models .

    i got the pixel 7 pro at the original price, but i preordered it. so i... got the watch for free. I think that's still one of the best deals even after half of year since launch. i kinda love this phone and didn't stumble over a lot of the issues people are complaining about. i hope it just gets improved and better with time especially in the camera department. Yes pro mode would definitely be nice, and definitely portrait video needs a good amount of retouch. Also from what i noticed the most battery drain is in the camera department so i'd love to see less battery drain in the camera app (obviously with no camera performance shortcuts). I am not that upset with the pro camera missing (even though for me that would be the most significant and desirable feature) because RAW file format for capturing photos is there as a compromise for the missing pro mode and in fact you can get some awesome and amazingly fine shots in post.

    5:46 closer to mid ranger? Tensor G2 scores ~1400/3800 on Geekbench 6, which is in between SD 888, 8 Gen 1 and 8+ Gen 1, and in some cases renders files even faster than those mentioned chips, only downside is efficiency, thanks to Samsung nm node tech.

    • @jerrywu615
      @jerrywu615 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think this is a sign of midrange chips becoming too good rather than Tensor G2 not being good enough...the latest SD 7+ Gen 2 scored 1416/4117 on Geekbench 5, but that is the best of the best of the midrange so I'd say it still is a bit unfair to flat out say Tensor G2 is midrange

    • @TheChazas
      @TheChazas ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jerrywu615 So true, midrange is plenty powerful to todays standard, no one even able to use all raw power of CPUs inside phones. With that said, G2 is plenty, even if it scores less than lets say SD 8+ Gen 1, it still managed to so certains things faster, like rendering. Efficiency is different story.

    You had me at, The lady on the plane with her 3xl. Because that's what I'm watching this review on.
    I bought this new in 2020, and it works perfectly, is flawless cosmetically and still gives me about 5 hours screen on time.
    I think my biggest complaint is the speakers on the newer models. Front facing stereo speakers is my most favorite feature on a phone. And for Pixel to move the bottom speaker to the bottom,,,SUCKS! 😢. Please Google, bring um back 🙏.
    Anyway, the 7pro looks like a winner, but! I am not thrilled with that gigantic camera bump? No, ramp. But I guess with a good case, it'll level out. I also think id rather have a rear finger print sensor. But never had one in screen, so who knows. All in all once I can find one new for around 400, 500, I will probably take a shot. I'm stuck at android 12 now, but still has really good features.
    And yes, that's what makes you reviewers like phone millionaires, there's nothing to having the best at your fingertips. Good review, thanks 👍

    TH-camrs have over hyped the Pixel 7 pro. These are the reasons I returned mine after using it: call quality is not clear, the phone gets uncomfortably hot to the touch when using youtube, web browsing, and recording with camera, the camera over processes dark colors making them look darker, battery is terrible and charges to slow, some app would freeze and end up crashing, some bugs on the interface not working properly.

      I have both! 1+11 and the pixel 7 Pro... bought them 1 after the other in the same week! I find the Oneplus to be doing a flawless job - bugfree! while the Pixel 7 Pro is unofficial in India, 5G does not show up with the same sim I get to work on the 1+... 5G is enabled in the pixel, but having a hard time. Stuck with LTE

    Pixel still has a ways to go. I bought many pixel over time I wind up not using it as long as I want to. I have been using Samsung phones for a long time now and I wanted the pixel to be my main phones. But the pixel line up has fail to do that. I owned every pixel since the pixel 2xl and try to switch over every chance but I wind up going back to the Samsung phones I had. Till this day the pixel 7 pro has not change my preferences and I wind up going back to my s22 ultra and now my s23 ultra. Some of the most basic stuff, to me, are better on the Samsung phones. One UI, the screen (more solid feel), better optimization, cellular modem and better battery are just better on Samsung. Also the charging speed is a joke on this phone. Maximum charge is a 22 watt charger and it still takes almost 2 hours. That's not fast charging. My old Samsung phones charged faster than that. Pixel still needs work and Google needs to fix what important. The only thing Pixel has an advantage over any phone now is still pictures and voice to text.

    Using 7 pro. My one and only complaint is its speaker. I switched from s20+ to this. And I feel like the s20+'s speaker is louder and better. Other than this, this phone is steeeel.

    Exynos (Tensor) will hold Pixel back, it's not capable of handling games and or data, the chip is overwhelmed and gets hot and crashes...until google dump that chip, they won't win.

    I used the google pixel 2 until a few weeks ago. Went with the iPhone 14promax. It’s ok. The main reason why I went iPhone is my work phone is an iPhone and I can’t email my scanned paperwork because I can’t use my own email address and was never and probably will never get a company email. I airdrop the scanned items to my phone and it works great. I do not like the typing on the iPhone, pixel is better. Siri sucks balls. I don’t do any social media.

Its just bad , period. yes cameras are top, but unfortunately this is all going for them , and i for one look at the package as a whole , if i want jsut camera there are dslr's ... For now pixel is a no go until it looks pleasing to me. Yes i am ios user , and yes im locked by watches and macbooks and stuff ,but as soon as pixels fix what i said i hate about them .. i will definitely try google with serious intentions , but that will happen only with a Pixel phone and not before what i said happens.

I still want a pixel 7ro or even 6pro. But, the video needs work. The one thing that pixel has is TRUE optimization. 😊

Speakers aren't loud, wish I didn't have to use Nova launcher for better customization. Battery charges slow as well. Still a good phone.
