    the 8 is way more expensive... telling someone to "just get" something that's $200 more is a little extreme. That's a good amount of money to people these days.

      With 3 more years of support(3.5 because it release later) that’d be 3 years without buying a new phone, with all the other features are worth it imo. Unless waiting for 8a, that probably be even better value

    I have the pixel 8 and enjoy it but tbh i think the 7a is more than adequate for most people. Sure the ling update support is great but most dont hold on to their phones for 7 plus years also not everybody can afford the extra $200 - $300.00 price jump. I think if someone buys the 7a there gonna love it

      I work outside, if I make 3 years without breaking my phone in a way that is not reasonably covered by warranty then I'm doing well. I think I managed 4 years once with an iPhone. I'm going to go for the 6A I think or a Galaxy A34. Fit and finish is almost irrelevant as its going to wind up in a giant rubber case anyway.

    • @exidrial431

      7 year support sounds nice at first but phones really don't last that long. I hold on to my phones for as long as possible but even then I feel pressured to get a new phone after 4 years at the latest. That's roughly when battery life has degraded significantly and when the phone starts throttling as a result. Hopefully this'll be less of an issue when phones are required to have replaceable batteries in the future again.

    The only reason I didn't upgrade to the Pixel 8 was because of the storage options. 256GB max is not enough when the Pixel 8 Pro has up to 1TB. Everyone is NOT in the market for a huge phone. I miss the days when Google made the same phone features, and they offered the smaller phone and the XL.

    Tried the 7a as a replacement for my S10+. But then I found a deal on an S22U that cost only $50 more than the 7a. After a week of intense trials, the 22 had a superior camera, esp in video, display brightness, mike recording sound, and overall feel of build. The 7a had more adjustments to tinker with, and could be rooted easier,. I think that is the Pixel target market: users who tinker, while Samsung is older users who have passed that by. I also played with a Pixel 8 my friend loaned me for a day, and I would say take the 8 over the 7a for battery, brightness, and next gen. upgrades. And just to throw in for older owners like myself : my wife's Apple 13 is almost enough to make a fan of me, but I can't get by its interface which is clunky. Apple is quality audio, long battery life, and excellent balance of display, camera, and video ability. But dang expensive, too. Get an S23+ on sale somewhere (without having to sign an expensive 2-3 year plan !!)

    Software updates become meaningless when the battery starts failing. Right now my 5 year old Pixel 4 battery is at 77% which still gets me through the day. Replacement from Google is $200 as my glass back has a crack. So I intend to run Pixel 4 into the ground and then get a new phone. But if my Pixel 4 died on me right now I would get a base Pixel 8 as I like the updated screen.

    I’ve had the same cheap huawei p20 lite since 2018, and have been putting off upgrading for a while. I’ve only wanted to upgrade now since 64GB isn’t enough space for flac music. Since I’ve already had my current phone for 5 and a half years, I think the extended support of the pixel 8 would be a significant advantage for me, meaning I can keep my next phone for 7 years. And to save more money I’ll buy second-hand, obviously.

      @gaygekko ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@newfnshow031 You think? Pixel 8 OEM screen currently costs 170€, that's significantly cheaper than buying a new phone. EVEN IF you break your screen EVERY YEAR, it would still be cheaper than buying a new midrange phone every other year. Battery replacement is only 45€ which you'll realistically only have to replace twice if you own your phone for the full 7 years. Imo, that's pretty great, especially if you actually give a f*ck about the environment.

    • @maxmohawke
      @maxmohawke ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gaygekko I feel the same as you. What concerns me here is, that you can crack the screen pretty easily when opening the phone, so you have to replace it too. Other Phones like Galaxy S23 are opened from the back which seems to be the more practical approach.

    • @gaygekko
      @gaygekko ปีที่แล้ว

      @@maxmohawke That's a fair point, though I must admit, I don't think I've ever opened my phone without ALSO intending to replace the screen.
      For me, it's always the screen that breaks, and so having that at the front and being the first thing you remove makes it just super easy to replace the screen. The thing that breaks the most should be the most repairable, and for me that happens to be the screen.
      Only other thing I see myself replacing would be the battery, but I probably would wait with replacing that until I've broken my screen anyway, which happens probably once a year almost 😅🥲.
      My biggest concern is with the adhesive. I've replaced the screen on my Pixel 4a twice now, and both times the adhesive has failed spectacularly and caused the screen to break within a short period of time.
      I think, if you're careful and just use enough heat and the right tools, it should absolutely be possible to open the phone without breaking the screen, repair technicians do it all the time 👍.

    Those with 7a, hold on to it. I'll tell you why,
    1. Google will pass down features eventually to older phones, especially to those with tensor chips.
    2. Exactly by end of the support of 7a, Google should be launching chips that are not exynos-based.
    3. Google have killed multiple services. I think they'll back off from the support timelime they have provided. Even if they don't, it's still a win because next pixels will also be providing same support timeline.

    I am extremely unsatisfied with Google's customer support. Despite being under warranty, I've been left with no solution for my Google Pixel 7a, which I purchased in Qatar and am now trying to use in Pakistan. The phone is plagued with severe network and call drop issues, making it unusable as a phone. When I reached out to Google customer service, they shockingly told me that they cannot assist me because my phone is a Japanese version, specifically designed for that country. I question why this phone was then released in the Gulf market if it's not compatible with our networks. With no other option, I'm now forced to use my phone as a tablet, which is far from what I intended. Google's zero support and failure to satisfy customers like me is unacceptable.

      7a video much better overall, photos better especially in lower light and with brightness balance in general, screen brighter and better, modem a lot better, 1 year more support, slightly better battery life, slightly more ram (which can be felt slightly even now, in another year or two it will really help).
      If you have a 6a it's a great phone, and worth keeping. If you can get a 7a for ~100-150 more, then as long as you can afford it, it's worth it. If you can't, the 6a is still a great phone to get.

    No offence but it does not make sense what you said. People should be incentivised to pay as little as possible in order to get exactly what they need not features that mostly they dont need. Most people don't need what pixel 8 offers. If you have money to spare, different story then. Even 150 difderence is a lot for most.

  • @dotadojardiner
    @dotadojardiner 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    For me the Pixel 7a is the WORST PHONE EVER. It constantly crashes or lags, the touch screen often doesn't respond or is very slow. The call quality and network connection is terrible, its a small phone, so small screen size, so smaller keyboard which makes typing more difficult (smaller size can be a positive or negative depending on your point of view). The battery life is miserable, the charging is slow, as in 2010 standards slow. This morning it took 40mins to charge 20%. That was with a cable, wireless charging is even slower (something like 8w) so pretty much pointless. I moved to this phone from a OnePlus 8t which is now about 3 years old and cost the same. It smashes the Pixel 7a in everyway. The only positive and I mean ONLY positive this phone has is the camera. Seriously consider buying another phone, because this one is sub par.
