I love the fact that doflamingo and rosinante had the same past, but one has become evil and the other one good, even if the worst things happens to you, you can still be a good person.
Not gonna lie, when he said: "F*** the world government." , for a second I thought he was talking about real life.
I wonder if things would have played out differently if Dolfamingo's father decided to leave with his family year, or few years earlier.
Maybe then Dolfamingo wouldn't act like other celestial dragons.
Honestly, I would have loved Doffy's backstory a lot more if he was on board with his father's decision before and then he was treated like shit by the "normal" guys and that changed him into the monster he's now.
Don't get me wrong, it's still good, but a genuinely good child just utterly broken by the perception of the world? That would have broken me too, man.
Actually, there are plenty of plots like that across diff types of media so I am grab that there is finally a character who born evil with a parallel who went through the exact situation as him.

Yeah agreed. Law backstory is like a roller coaster. This is the more reason why I like Law so much and why he become my 2nd favorite character after Zoro. I wish his friendship with Straw Hats lasts till the end of the series. Don't wanna lose them 💜

i will not lie... his father was naive, but, it is surprising that the people accused him just for being a celestial dragon when clearly he has chosen to live like them. i mean, he didn't think he would shoulder the sins of the others on his back. regarding doffy, he was probably raised like that by others HOWEVER , Rocinante was raised properly by their father so he couldn't have been that bad of a father as one would think.
I mean, mighta had something to do with the fact that his father didn't really intervene when Doffy started demanding to shoot people who crossed his path and enslave the local populace. Doffy was obviously brainwashed in early childhood and couldn't have taken full responsibility for it at that time, but their parents are never ever shown actually trying to tell their children that the things their peers were doing were immoral (usually they just say that it's "better to live like a human/more honest/more simply) or at least not to threaten to kill their neighbours in public. They probably got jaded to it living in Mariejois and even though they didn't agree with what their peers were doing, they were out of touch and didn't understand how painful and frightening that threat would be to these traumatized people who've lost loved ones to the Celestial Dragons, and failed to socialize and educate their kids accordingly. Even when they left Mariejois, the Donquixote family still had a really nice house and a lot of discretionary funds provided to them; the townspeople probably saw all of that and resented not only that the family were former celestial dragons, but that they were still effectively living way more comfortably than them and (as far as they could tell), were still willing to go out in public and threaten to enslave and kill them.
Personally I think that Rosinante has rose-tinted glasses with his parents. He remembers how loving they were, and how much their father was willing to endure while begging the townspeople to spare his sons, but they were painfully out of touch, saw normal people as an aestheticized ideal rather than traumatized, complex beings, and didn't seem to register or remotely understand how horrifying the oppressive system was until it was way too late to protect themselves.
Surprising? Celestial Dragons are devils. Their anger is super justified. Doffy’s father was a fool
Did nobody explain to you yet what Doflamingo's top executive names stand for? They're the spanish names of the four suits in a deck of cards...Trébol is Clover ("spades" in english), Pica is Pike (swords in engl), Diamante is Diamond and Corazón is Heart...that said Donquixote Rosinante is his name and Corazon is his title in Doflamingo's pirate crew

I hear you about Doffy being product of his environment, but counterpoint, Rosinante came up right. I feel it's both w Doffy. Ofc the stuff w his naive father and abuse by citizens and being a spoiled Celestial Dragon all had an effect, but I feel he has some underlying misanthropic qualities that came out more as a result of his experiences. Rosinante on the other hand, imo, was good at his core, and overcame their experiences and stayed good. Also Doffy killing his dad was prob an important trauma in his development.. So I agree Doffy was affected a lot by experiences, but he also had a dark potential w in him since birth imo. It's like nature v nurture, I think both contribute to making mass murderers, but just imo. Doffy is my 2nd favorite villain of OP after his boss, Kaido
Yeah it’s not as black and white as people make it seem. Doffy’s cruelty is neither 100% trauma nor 100% born evil, it’s a mix of both
Doffy was forced to care for his sick mother and corazon who eas younger and couldn't help, feel like their situations were different Corazon always being the one being cared for

It's crazy that you saw Sengoku and thought "lol it's Sengoku" with zero recognition that Rosinante was talking to him.
Garp is not an open minded dude. He has a very clear set of values which are the most important to him and will not let anyone tell him otherwise. Hsi whole character is that he wants to make a chance in the marines, but from the inside. He is the contrary to dragon and post timeskip kuzan. He believes change must be made from the inside and that's his number one priority. That's why he didn't even quit when Ace was about to die. Much less for Law who he didn't even know. His struggle is that, to follow a difficult path but always stay firm and believe in his ideology. And he WILL make a chance through the likes of young marines like Coby, Helmeppo, or sword.
He's as stubborn as Dragon and as Luffy. Once they make up their minds they won't budge, no matter what the world is telling them.
I feel like you had a somewhat big miss with your comments on Homing, but I still get it. However, I think Homing simply had no parenting knowledge to go off of - we can assume his parents were just as horrible as the other Tenryubito, so he probably had nothing to draw from them beyond their biological connection. And, having seen nothing of the rest of the world beyond what the Tenryubito see, I don't think his naivety is just stupidity.
Remember folks that why we try before we buy! Homing shouldda done some homework but its only testament to how much CD society has regressed over the generation. They need to learn nothing except talk and well Charloss still boxing with that one to this day! craziest zoo/ daycare combo in the OP world
I agree. These are the same people who were literally called gods. They didn't think they were humans. Imagine how sheltered their lives were. Homing probably didn't know anything about the injustices of the world, but he still knew that they had status over others. He discarded his lineage and wanted to be a part of the people, but he was punished for that. I like homing and I felt so sad foe him

I still can't help but feel sorry for Doflamingo and Rosinante's dad. He wanted to do the right thing....he actually had a heart which is more than I can say about the rest of the Celestial Dragons.....but he suffered from the same ignorance that the other Celestial Dragons suffered from, the ignorance of not knowing that they are all genuinely hated by the majority of the world.

I can see that but personally I like what happened a lot more. Dude never even got the chance to change his perspective or learn about the rest of the world the way his father wanted. He was brought down from a privileged lifestyle and instead suffered like hell only further cementing his ideology and makes the way he is now even more clear instead of if he was just changed by the world. To me it’s what makes Corozon and Law unique because Corozon was not only treated like shit as well, he stuck with what his father wanted and passed down the same viewpoint to younger generation(Law) that suffered a similar tragedy.
