+TA Lindsay Yes!!! A few airports around the world have pods, but you’d pay more per hour. There’s also actual airport hotels like the one I vlogged about last.
Yeah. That one made me realize how having luggage storage with you is a convenience that you get in an actual hotel room. Peace of mind, convenience, security...
@@gladitsnotme it's the condescending nature and name calling that makes you hostile not you questioning the safety of your property. MyCube did seem like a better option, but both were pretty nice! I just wish capsule hotels/luxury hostels would become more of a Thing, because the more I see them in Tokyo and Singapore the more I want them worldwide.
YEAH, maybe eventually. Japan is making it a convenient substitute for travelers (b/c many are now co-ed and woman friendly); they're catching on. Some airports have this concept but you'll pay per hour and I can see the U.S. doing something like this but charging hotel prices. oof! Dunno about Singapore but the nice thing about Tokyo is that the ballpark price is similar to the cost of a hostel.
Definitely loved the second one much more than the first due to the more modern vibe and how you can keep your items close to you. Only dislike for the second one is the noise it makes closing the luggage storage area

Your crisp and short commentaries, suit me. Many cloggers talk too much. The pace is just right. Excellent presentation! I think the second place looks more comfortable, but I'm claustrophobic and need a window or an illusion of bigger space.
Stayed at MyCube last Jul 2016 when it was first opened and will be coming back again this year for 4n. I did not regret booking it. The “cube” was so comfortable. They also have a bath tub! Mycube is also a few minutes walk to Kuramae stn of Asakusa Line. Def get the second capsule, guys!
I stayed at first cabin Akihabara a few years ago and it was great that more capsule places were accepting women. It had a nice Onsen too but it was downstairs so had to go thru the lobby lol. But I do love the idea of luggage compartment right there at MyCube- would worry about the noise though.
Stayed in My cube last summer with my brother. Nice location, very clean and staff was nice. Loved Asakusa, wish it was a little closer to Tokyo though
Actually stayed at both of these in October 2018. Prefer First Cabin but I stayed in the First Class room which is bigger than the one you stayed in, has floor space, under-bed locked storage, and side table; the sento at First Cabin was the deal breaker for me. My father traveled with me and he preferred MyCube. The price was similar, the staff awesome, and loved the experience provided by both.
+Gokai Journey Cool, thanks for sharing. I was wondering why I didn’t get the cabin I saw in the photos. Lol. Did your father have a separate room or were you allowed to share? The sento?
@@grrrltraveler My father stayed on a different floor, we would meet up in the lobby. The sento or the public bath -- my favorite part of staying in Japan.
I like the first one. Late next year I'm making an old childhood dream of visiting in Japan come true. Osaka and Tokyo are the top of my list followed by up in Hokaido somewhere. Then it's off to Australia to visit some old musician friends.
I suppose they are economical and take up less space than a typical hotel room. But I would have to experience one in order to comment. I do like the idea of a storage locker under the sleeping area for luggage, but obviously if you need items from your luggage you would be in the hallway rummaging through your bags looking for those last pair of socks! Lol And if you need the bathroom in the middle of the night, you’re up, walking the hallway to the bathroom to pee. Ideally, if you’re between flights and need a rest, it’s much better than an airport floor and inexpensive to actually lay down and sleep. But on a holiday, and there are two of you, it would likely be a pod each and that doesn’t sound like fun. Texting your partner in the pod down the hall Lol “Goodnight sweetheart, we’ll be released from our cells in the morning, sleep well” Could you see this approach to ‘hotel stays’ coming to North America? A chain of Best Western Sleep Pods? Holiday Inn Pods? Or B’nB Pods? Lol I bet they might work as a downtown core place to sleep for lone business travellers. A day of meetings, crash in a pod and catch a flight out in the morning. I assume they must be safe, secure and monitored. Could that really work in the US? But, I would like to try then since it is a life experience and I’m up for that. They’re like human storage lockers! UHaul Sleep Pods! Lol “USnoreIt iPods”. As long as you’re safe Christine!!! Thank you for the tour! 😃👍
Lol. I guess there many reinventions are possible. It was originally made for Japanese salarymen who worked late or missed the last train home. That’s the ordinal use and context of it. 😁
You have real interesting topics for us, And also You seems to have God Ganesh's blessing for all your efforts. He is behind your laptop. Keep do more please
My biggest concern is about getting hot bc the fan or a/c doesn't work properly, is that a problem when you stay in a capsule? But the second was the most practical I think
I like second one better because it has more options on the toiletries based off personal preference and I would steal like most of the hair ties and some showers caps for home. But I like how you don’t have to pay for it unlike some hotels thanks for the video it was cool
What do you use to film? I want to start filming my travels but I don’t want to take up space on my phone. Also, do you find it scary to travel alone, or do you prefer it? Sorry for all of the question. Love your videos!
The first hotel looks bit compact and limited amenities but the room looks spacious. The second hotel has everything all in on and looks relaxing to sleep and rest.
Which one do I like better? Asakusa all the way!! Why? The style of the place and more room in the...room. Also, the amenities looked great, too. There are always things Like that that you can use, whether it’s at the hotel or later on. A shower cap can be used for a number of things, for example.
Capsule hotels are a new thing to me. Do all hotels provide these smocks for sleeping? Are you expected to wear them in the toileting and shower areas? I'm super fascinated amd wish we had something like this in the states.
The most important question, which mattress (futon) was the thickest? When I stayed in a Capsule hotel in Tokyo, the mattress was so thin, I had to bend it in half otherwise it felt that I was sleeping directly on the floor, and the hotel didn't have extra mattress to put on top of the other one :(
I haven't seen enough of your videos to know if you've done this or not, but please please please go and review the millennial capsule hotel in Shibuya!!❤️
Thank you so much for posting all these capsule hotel tours! I've been dreaming of visiting Japan and might consider spending a night or two in a capsule hotel. However, I'm kind of concerned about what they give you to sleep in. I'm fairly certain that I'm quite a bit heavier than the average Japanese person and I have a feeling it might not fit me (I suspect a very tall person might have similar concerns, but maybe not?) So I guess I'm wondering what happens if you get there and the smock doesn't fit. Are you allowed to bring something to sleep in with you, or is that frowned upon?
+Kristen Clarkin Loved both but MyCube hands down bc prices were close during my season and more bang to buck. Not sure what their policy is but most capsules have mandatory check out for its cleaning period even if you’re staying a few days. With the locker types I could leave my luggage in there or at the storage facility. Usually not a problem.
Alex Vallejo I stayed in a similar capsule, #2 in the video, in Tottori prefecture in Japan. If you ever end up going that way I do recommend it; its called Drop Inn Tottori ^_^
I actually think you wear that smock quite well Christine! You are 5'8", I'm just imagining the under 5' woman who probably would appear like a child wearing their parents clothes! Would you say most people staying in these capsule hotels are locals or are there tourists here as well?
Great review! I stayed at MyCube for several days (near my fav ramen shop, convenient stores, and the train). It's my 2nd favorite capsule hotel after my ultimate fav in Kyoto that has a steam room, different spa pools, lounge with unlimited beverages (and wine in the evenings), massage chairs, spacious powder rooms and other amenities. Japanese capsule hotels have spoiled me and I can't seem to find a shared space equivalent in the US. Oh well, I'll just have to visit Japan again 😚
You can use your own.. Some locals who missed the last train may stay in capsule hotels for the night, would appreciate the provided sleeping clothes slippers and toiletries.
It spins me out that people leave their belongings outside the room they stay in, where any random person walking past could potentially take it. I get that Japan is a relatively safe place and has very low crime, but if there are other travelers staying there, who knows if they're going to steal your belongings. I'd be super paranoid about that >.>
These would be great in airports. Especially when long delays between flights.
+TA Lindsay Yes!!! A few airports around the world have pods, but you’d pay more per hour. There’s also actual airport hotels like the one I vlogged about last.
True, I think they should add them, especially in Australia's international airports lmao
Cough cough like delays on American Airlines cough cough

definitely liked the second one for the luggage space right by your sleeping capsule. cautious about my belongings being close to me when travelling
Yeah. That one made me realize how having luggage storage with you is a convenience that you get in an actual hotel room. Peace of mind, convenience, security...

The first one was surprisingly dull with very little features. I think your cheaper capsules had better toiletries and facilites
