Welcome to Japan, where they take pride in the cleanliness of their facilities. There's a concept called 'omotenashi' in Japanese society. I'd highly recommend looking into it for anyone interested in the Japanese culture and mindset.

@@catsfrommars That is true, but ... this is definitely not always the case.
Public restrooms aren't always that great. Still a lot better than say, random highway-stop restrooms in other countries though.
But may god have mercy on your soul if you encounter a squat toilet which hasn't been cleaned recently. And you really, REALLY need to go number 2. Don't slip!

From what I understand, that's a pretty common thing in Japanese culture. Partially because it's rude but also because Japanese people hate being in other's photos/videos, they know how annoying it can be to get a good shot

I think it is for two reasons… one: the government it’s still asking to not travel if it is not necessary between prefectures, so there’s no much people around… two, and more important: you can do the same route with a Shinkansen for half price and half time, even via bus it takes 6 hours instead of 8 and the price is also around 8/9000¥. With a car also could take half time. I don’t think a lot of people would like to spend those money to make a trip that other way take half time and half price…

"My door is huge - I'm getting excited"
That's why I watch these videos; it's great to see someone actually enjoying the little things on their trip. Also, I'm kind of amazed at how spacious this room is - I know it's First Class and all, but it's just unusual to see such big open spaces in Japanese society. I guess it makes sense considering that the ocean is so big and there's no real limit on how you big you can make a ferry if you have enough money, but even so, wow!

I'm really admiring these ferry trips. It's a very good way to travel with your vehicle but not having to be cooped up in the small space for, say, 10 hours. Long drive is very tiring and could lead to accidents especially on the highway where everyone is speeding. Also you can save on mileage and wear and tear of your vehicle. Very good choice to bring newly bought vehicles on a ferry. Unfortunately we don't have ferry services like this in my country.

I found your channel and I watch your videos often. I have anxiety and depression, but your videos help calm my mind. I think of your travels before I go to sleep and this helps. I hope to visit Japan one day soon, although I don’t think I shall return to New Jersey if I do. You have a very interesting country. Safe travels, friend 🌸

These videos are great... It's amazing how wonderful those ships are, what a great value it seems.
But, are you the only person in Japan that ever travels on any of these ferrys?😁
It looks like they are fully staffed, but you're the only passenger ever aboard.
Here in the U.S., we can't even take a tour bus through a town that isn't packed like a sardine can.
    CHEERS!

Is foreign travel into Japan still restricted due to COVID? I’m not sure what the COVID restrictions in Japan are like but I have a feeling that may play a part. The whole world saw a huge reduction in travel for pleasure and is still seeing a reduction in travel for business.

That room you stayed in was a lot bigger than some of the rooms I've had in a couple of Japanese hotels. Thank you for another great video.

I wish we had these in the States. Well we do sort of but not on this level. I have loved this series and love to see the options available should we travel East again.

Solo-san, my and I really like your videos because you give us a sense of your appreciation for the small details. We could never afford an expensive cruise so your "budget" videos are our favourites. If you ever go to Tswano or anywhere in Yamaguchi we would be over the moon.

I love how you show us the different areas of Japan. It’s so funny it almost seems like you have the entire ferry to yourself! I hear people but see no one at all, talented photography! That ferry was like a hotel, I had no idea Japan had those, so cool! I really want to visit Shikoku because I have relatives who were from there. If you end up visiting, please post 😊

Nice room and restaurant! Yet what caught my eye was the curved ramp for unloading vehicles, with a truck driving away! Interesting....! 😎✌🏼
