We wanted to get pizza delivered tonight because it's a holiday and we deserve it. After watching this, I'm boiling a 88 cent pack of spaghetti, making my own sauce with 3 lbs of tomatoes I bought on markdown for 99 cents and defrosting some ground beef that I bought on clearance. That's what's for dinner tonight. Not some $20 pizza. Always love coming to TH-cam to watch these rants when we have moments of weakness.
Learning to say "no" is the best thing I ever learned. I said yes way too many times to people and things. Looking back I realized I used my cc's because I had given my extra cash away expecting pay back. SMH. Amazing how quiet my life is since I started saying NO... Luv it! On baby step 3! Restarting 401k/Roth (baby step 4) late September. Feels great!
My wife introduced me to your program and videos about 30 days ago and I'm on baby step 2 now. Thank you for waking me up and realizing how much money I was throwing away each week off my paycheck. I've saved my emergency fund and just paid 750 dollars towards my smallest dept. I can do this and now see a path to financial freedom thanks to you. I really appreciate it.
"Do we need it? No. Do we want it? Yes." If people would just separate fun from necessities, they'd be able to survive. My husband and I have been able to pay debts and have fun stuff, cause we pay necessities first and then, when we want to have fun, we buy stuff on sale or save up and then buy. We don't buy new games, etc.
Dave is like the family's rich uncle that no one talks to because "Oh, well, he's crazy because he found a way to get out of debt and doesn't mince words when he sees us getting under in our finances." But if you listen to this rich uncle, you will find a treasure trove of invaluable tools and methods to help you to obtain a financially peaceful future if you are willing to make the sacrifices.
This is what my wife and I used to argue about. Saying "No". We're only 24 but our families always ask us for money because of how much we make and the moves we're making financially. We share the lessons we get from these videos and how we're able to afford our new car and our new house but they don't care about that. They just want the money we bust our tails for every day. What sucks is that my wife gave in because she's just a sweetheart and doesn't say no despite knowing our goals and despite knowing I'd be upset. Point is, saying no and sharing the things they don't want to hear is powerful.
I love this one Dave! This culture has lost its way in some cases, glorifying football and weddings more than protecting the family or saving for retirement. A necessary dose of truth!
The "yes" culture. Saying "no" is seen as rude. Don't say yes when you want to say no. Saying no is being assertive not aggressive. It's backing your beliefs and desires.
I was excluded from a group of women friends at work in the first year of my career because I couldn’t afford to spend on lunches, outings, and events the way they did. At 56 I’m an everyday millionaire and I can quit working anytime. Idk about them.
Wish I could like this a million times! He's right on point with this society in general. Everyone is so offended and sensitive, you'd think at times, you were talking to overgrown 2nd graders.
I know people who got 0% interest card. Transferred interest bearing debt and paid it off interest free on the remaining balance. Dave would flip over that but mathematically it makes sense if you can use it to your advantage. Pay it off asap and cancel card.
My parents lived through the most prosperous era in history in the richest country in the world and made a lot of money in their lives but ended up with nothing because they never grew up enough to delay gratification for even a little while.
I said this word to myself before I bought my first flat-screen TV. Waited until I could afford it at the right time at the right price. Appreciated it more too!
If my team was in the super bowl and I had the money for it, I would throw down for that. Otherwise I completely agree. People in general waste a ton of money on sporting events
I found it awkwardly and really hard when I have to say "no" to homeless people. Because my heart wants to give all the time but I'm not where I want to be financially. It's hard to say no. But one of Dave Ramsey's quotes that I really love is that you live like no one else, so later you can live And GIVE like no one else" this really helped me. Sometimes not helping people and giving them money, gives them the power to help themselves.
vincent bryan It is true. If you gave $ to everyone you saw asking for it you would have none. I have $30 in my car in 1's. I use that money each month to help people on the streets. It helps them in some ways but I don't go broke either. Just budget for it if you do want to give. I give and I feel I am blessed for it because any time I have hit hards times someone would help.
I love saying "no" at work when people hit me up for money for baby showers, their kids school sale, going out to lunch etc etc. Boy do people hate you though.

I found Dave Ramsey accidentally when one of his videos popped up on "suggested" videos list. Long story short, I heard his seminar and thought he was talking directly to me. It was a born again moment. I buckled down and paid off a tax bill that had been lingering around for 6 long years. It took a measly 5 months once I decided to throw everything I had at the lousy $12,000 debt. I had to say "no" to a lot of things: trips, nights out, giving gifts on birthdays and Christmas.
Saying no can be hard because sometimes it puts guilt in you but you have to say no and set boundaries regardless. When you say no be firm with it. Don’t feel guilty about setting boundaries and saying no. Dave Ramsey is already making it easier for me to say no!
This is so funny... my 4 year old tell me all you ever say is No, No, No! mommy when will you say yes to me? I told her when I complete my plan with Dave Ramsey...
I'm a die hard packer fan but remember the quote by Vince Lombardi that the important things first are religion and family then the Packers. Taking care of the family also means being smart with money. I cut out NFL Sunday ticket from my budget to pay off debt and believe me that was hard but it's also hard being in debt.
I don’t understand why some people learn and some seem incapable of learning. I learned the lesson of credit cards when I was 20 and bills took most of my paycheck. It was awful when the only thing to cut was the groceries and cheap food isn’t very good. I swore to never go back, then I married the wrong man and had to learn it again. Now I’m debt free and nothing will ever change that!!!
Good job Lauren!!!similar to my story. People can make you or break you.I guess you have to be tired of BEING tired of debt to fight for Finincial Peace!!!!!!!!!!
In the beginning of my marriage the word No was seen as an insult, setting boundaries was seen as offensive by the people closest to us. But over the years my husband and I have learned that the people who were being this way were the unhealthy ones not us. Don't let anyone family/friends or strangers walk all over you or guilt trip you into toxic unhealthy relationships.....just say No and let them deal with themselves.
Brilliant! I've got quite good at saying " no". It's amazing how many people here in the UK will find the money for new mobile phones, yet more clothing, nights out, holidays, new car, etc but panic at the thought of losing their job because they have no savings. I know a lot of people who spend their money as fast as it comes in because they are constantly enduring themselves like overgrown kids. And then people wonder why so many kids have grown up with a massive sense of entitlement!
“Snot flying everywhere, tears going everywhere, laying in the floor, spinning around like they’re breakdancing in the cereal isle of a grocery store” 😂😂😂
I've been working on paying off my debts, and every time I think about buying something I can't afford, or signing up for monthly payments on something I have Dave Ramseys voice in my head saying 'NO! You can't afford it, you're fricken broke!'

@A to G to U Probably for a good reason?! I mean going out on the anniversary is far different then always going out and wasting money... especially going out/doing something on your anniversary doesn't have to be expensive. You can do a lot together that doesn't cost a fortune. Did you even do anything together with/for your girlfriend? Because girls ain't leaving usually that easy after a no...at least as long as there hasn't been something already boiling long term in the background.
Amazing rant. Working sales I heard a guy tell me I need to Remove "no" from my vocabulary. My response was simple, and because of it he came back and bought from me, No. No is a simple and boundary setting word that does not mix feelings. Perhaps that is why it is politically incorrect; it actually tells you something instead of beating around the bush.
My favorite word! $1,500 for a single game...that's insane. You could purchase a sports package, super sized flat screen T.V. and still have money left over at the end of the game. I think it would be worth just as much to have friends over and watch the game with pizza and snacks.
Say NO to Dave Ramsey, about paying for his course! You can find all of this information for free online from him, Graham stephan and quite a few others.
I told a group of young people one time at church that one of the most important words they would ever learn to use is the word NO, and that one of the most important people that they would learn to say NO to is themselves.
Amazing opportunities fly under your radar every day. It's impossible to be in attendance for all of them. Positive constraints on your expenditures will provide you with opportunities that you can enjoy. You just have to say "no" several times, and when you finally say yes (when you can afford it) the world can be your oyster. I try to remind myself of that every day.

Perhaps that is why it is politically incorrect; it actually tells you something instead of beating around the bush.
Noooooooooooo! ❤ Dave Ramsey!!! His rants are hard hitting!!! He gives the best advice!!!!
"deserve" the worst word ever created.
No! Such a powerful word.
My favorite word! $1,500 for a single game...that's insane. You could purchase a sports package, super sized flat screen T.V. and still have money left over at the end of the game. I think it would be worth just as much to have friends over and watch the game with pizza and snacks.

2:35-3:20.; I'm rather fond of this word & it feels good every time I say it.
Say NO to Dave Ramsey, about paying for his course! You can find all of this information for free online from him, Graham stephan and quite a few others.
No no no no no no no no...... 😂😂😂😂😂👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 my kids and my husband heard that a LOT. 😂😂😂😂😂
God bless you Dave you are the only one making sense these days
I went to Green Bay. But I did it before I knew about Dave. I regret nothing. But not returning until I am in a better financial situation.
No I’m gonna vote you out because you can’t say NO! I heard that!! I love this rant!
Thank you. You nailed it!
Just say NO you can do it
Dave Ramsey, a practical cure for entitlement thinking.
I told a group of young people one time at church that one of the most important words they would ever learn to use is the word NO, and that one of the most important people that they would learn to say NO to is themselves.
7:45-7:54.; Well said, Dave...
Good words to live by.
I come back and listen to this one often as I grow
6:47-6:50.; The same, here, Dave...
"No." changed my life, a long time ago.
Big Dave Ramsey fans from Canada and I must say, by far the funniest clip I’ve seen of him! Love it!
Reading all your books. Had to read so much to give them more common sense knowledge. It's helping my brother and sister too.
