i'm in the same situation! at 26, i still haven't read the books but am really fond of the universe and read a lot of fanfiction about it. so i also recently decided to read the books then rewatch the movies. my impression: i 100% agree about harry's personnality. in the first few movies, he's very subdued, wheras in the books he's witty and has a lot of opinions. i prefer book harry tbh (i'm only finished book 3 tho). also about ron's character: he's really different in the movies compared to the books. i don't like him at all in the books, he's always criticizing something or someone, he's just as prejudiced as draco but just towards different people. all in all, good video! i'll keep watching the series 😊
Ahh nice to be reading them at the same time! Thank you for taking the time to share your impressions and comment, it’s so interesting seeing other people’s opinions, and we happen to basically share the same views so far haha 🤍
The book is generally almost always better because so much is lost in translation in any film adaptations. They have to be mindful of the running time and dialogue against action. I actually have a pin that reads ‘the book was better’ haha 😁
I’ve never been a real advocate for that phrase - there’s definitely some movies I’ve preferred to their books 🫣- but this series I’m going to have to agree with you! Interesting that the books is on the shorter side than average and still so much is packed into it too!
Its so fascinating seeing a new person read and watch this franchise
It’s long overdue I think 😂
@@ReadsWithPhoebe I'm do curious how old are you that you waited this long for me I was 17
So I’ve seen the movies a lot times, but I’m reading the series for the first time and I turn 21 in November 😬

I'm very happy i'm not the only one (although now you are much more cultured than I, now having read at least the first book)
I’m not going to lie, I’m having a whale of a time with the books, if you like the films I highly recommend you give them a go!
The books have so much more lore and the characters have so much more personalities than the film. Harry potter season is finally here!
🍂🎄
Yeah they really do, I'm having the best time reading them 🫶🏻
@@ReadsWithPhoebe Enjoy watching them in this cosy weather. Your attiic room is awesome!
I like the characters in thr book better than the movies because they seem more real to me.
