The Shadowhunter chronicles are the gateway they are one of the best romantasy books ever. They have it all, action, magic, the best romance, family, found family, friendship. You have The Mortal Instruments (6 books) 2 prequels The Infernal devices (3 books and the best romance and epilogue) The last hours (3 books) and then the sequels: The Dark Artífices (3 books) and The wicked powers (it’s going to be 3 books first one coming out 2026) there is a lot of books but it’s the kind of world you can’t get enough of and don’t want to end.

Throne of Glass is not for the smut, it is the most true high fantasy I have ever read. But it is the most amazing insane journey I have ever read and Aelin is the best female main character ever created. I will die on that hill!

i'm in book 6 of zodiac academy and boii ohh boii is it a fucking roller coster. i started reading it after i saw yana give a very convincing review abt the first book. i was pretty much one book behind her until book five. THE FUCKING ENDING OF BOOK FIVE KILLED ME AND I WANTED TO STAY DEAD AFTER IT BUT MORE THAN THAT I NEEDED TO FCKING KNOW WHTA'S GONNA HAPPEN NEXT TO ACTUALLY DIE IN PEACE. so i read a very light book just to prepare myself for book 6. now i'm 40% into it and ISTFG i'm holding my breath for each chapter. for a fact ik that every single book until book 9 will be ending with TRAUMA AND PAIN which i'm not ready at all and idk when i'll finally finish the series considering the recovery period it'll take me after each book but i can't wait to get to book 9 and read about their perfect HEA. another fact i accidentally found out was how many kids each couple will be having by the end SO CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THEIR HAPPY FAMILY MOMENTS AND INTERACTIONS WITH THE KIDS. for me epilogues with kids are the epitome of perfect ending so CANNOT FREAKING WAIT!!!!!!!!!
@shakiraali3790 I'm still pushing through it, I'm on chapter 45 rn so almost 90% done and around ig chapter 30-40 you can somehow breathe. Like there's at least some positive stuff happening other than that it's just BAD. bad in a way that my mental health can't take more than 2-3 chapters at a time. And as I'm approaching the ending of book 6, it's getting worse so each chapter is giving me whiplash and I'm sure it'll take me three more days to finish the book even though only 17 chapters are left. And i think I'll need to read at least two light normal goofy romance books afterwards to prepare myself for book 7.

So trying to read book 6 and the first 2 chapters were already unbearable😞 but maybe only reading a few chapters a day will make it better. I just have to pick up another series and read it while reading za😹
@shakiraali3790 yeah and just remember that the last book is full of epilogue of their happily ever after with kids and all. So that's my only motivation to get through these nightmare induced books
Read Caraval first 😭 I will die on that hill. You will fall in love with Stephanie Garber’s writing and if you read Once Upon a Broken Heart first Caraval will not hit the same.

For a fantasy romance book series with an epic love story and great but not overly complex world building, I recommend Daindreth's Assassin by Elisabeth Wheatley. It’s a 5 book completed series with 1 new spinoff about a charming and sarcastic character from the main series. The author has some hilarious and interesting videos on TH-cam. That is how I discovered her in the first place.
More romantasy recs: Five broken blades, Assistant to the villain series (please give it another try), The bridge kingdom series, Twin crowns series and Harry Potter series 🥰
My biggest recommendation for you would be to read Kingdom of the Wicked series by Kerri Maniscalco. Like that’s just such masterpieces. The first book is YA but the rest of the books are the romantic with spice we all love and then she has standalone books about other kings of sin. Right now there is Throne of the Fallen, and the new book is coming out pretty soon the Throne of Secrets and they all are just amazing you have to read them

I have heard there is a spin off to ZA; something about Ruthless boys of ZA. Could you read those and suggest what should be the reading order for that? I absolutely agree with the ToG order. I read AB 3rd and regretted it soo much, but i did do the tandem. So i wish someone was there to clearly tell me how to read them initially! I dont want to repeat that same mistake with ZA before i get started 😢 . Thats the only series left for me from all your recs!
