Hi Tim, my Assie mate was so worried about being tax on the money he brings in to Thailand, that he went to the tax office in Pattaya, he was told to stop wasting there time, if you are on a retirement visa you won't be taxed, they are after people who bring large amounts of money into Thailand....
It’s not the Pattaya immigration he should be asking. He should be asking a constant of Thai Revenue Department. But this exemplifies the problem - no really knows all the answers yet.
I don't think we will have to pay the tax on the airport at arrival, it would slow down the immigration dramatically an what sense would the ETA make when you have the advantage of using the electronic gates to speed up the immigration and then queue somewhere else for the tax payment. Logistically a complete nonsense and I am sure it will be collected differently or not at all.

I remember when I first started going out to Thailand back in the mid 90's we had to pay a departure tax. There were machines at the airport which issued a ticket after inserting your money, too long ago for me to be able to remember how much it was. If airlines won't collect an arrival tax along with all the other taxes that seem to be added to the air fare these days there's a good chance it will end up having to be collected by the hotels as in some other countries that charge a tourism tax.
It was 200 bhat..I remember it well, the charge to leave the country, it was a scam by the airlines and the airport owners . typical of Thailand really, extortion every where
I remember too.
@@jockster5525 200thb sounds about right. I think we had to show the ticket at immigration rather than at the airline departure gate but again my memory a bit hazy. I recall thinking at the time it was a rip off and another bit of hassle at the airport I could have done without.
@@maryziggy8802 Apparently it was 200 Thai baht, quite expensive back in the 90's.
@@YOUNGBEHR indeed it was. I remember arriving at the airport, no idea about this charge. Being sent to the machine . I didn't remember what it cost though
I have no objection to paying this 300 baht charge. The big question, is where the money goes. Knowing the high level of corruption here, it's very debatable. Stop milking tourists!!
Maybe they will charge 300baht for an ETA application
The USA does when you apply
Started pouring rain in Kaeng Khro, Chaiyaphum, last night and at 12:50pm today still dribbling. The lilly pond in our garden has overflowed as has the very large and deep pond we dug on our other piece of land near our house. It's nice to be keeping the temperature down however and there's greenery everywhere.
Thank you, it was the tax office...
Always have to watch my TNT before I go to sleep😊
I don't think we will have to pay the tax on the airport at arrival, it would slow down the immigration dramatically an what sense would the ETA make when you have the advantage of using the electronic gates to speed up the immigration and then queue somewhere else for the tax payment. Logistically a complete nonsense and I am sure it will be collected differently or not at all.
The Netherlands put a tourist tax on your hotel bill. A fixed price per night.... Might be next in Thailand
Except many thai hotels are unregistrered.
They already have a 7% VAT tax on your hotel bill.
And in the Netherlands hotel stays go from 9 to 21% vat This is because of our new racist government that we have.
They do that in Malaysia and Vietnam.
Great Newscast again Tim. Well done enjoyed watching, all be it I’m a bit late, been driving from Bangkok most of the day. Hope the weather brightens up for you and the family.
Jay Emanuel Thomas the footballer, came to us at Doncaster Rovers in the North of England in around 2010. He was a decent striker, scored goals and did a decent job for us.
Oh and don’t forget those symbols, € are Euros not pounds £
Best wishes from me here, back at Bang Saray.
Ha! He spent time in Donny. Enough to corrupt anyone, eh duck?
@@OhhDear-p1y😂😂😂 well it’s grim up north. But now we’re a City and on the way up! 😀

Tourism tax on the coast in Germany is between 140-190,- THB per day and person addded to the hotel bill , so in ten days close to 2000,-. The 300,- is a very fair price for the Lanfd of smiles. They do a lot for the beaches.
Just increase the 700Thb fee to 1000thb, jobs a good un
Thumbs up 👍 Sir Newton
Really hope you and Steve start doing your Sunday shows again. Loved those, your interaction with each other always made my weekend enjoyable.
I hope not. Cant stand steve.
My favourite place in Thailand is definitely hua hin,kao takiab, cha am
Hi Tim, Great show but please use the UK convention for ETA which rhymes the pronunciation with better. It avoids confusing travellers with E.T.A expected time of arrival and makes for easier conversations
I’m not from the U.K., neither are most of my viewers.

Thank you for updating us daily on news in Thailand. I’m just wondering if there’s much rain in southern Thailand and if any flood has occurred recently. Thank you again mate!

Good morning Tim,
You are correct about the rain in the North East of Thailand, it is lashing it down up here, and it has been for twelve hours at least.
And we have had a power cut for the same time too.
Please take care
Thanks Tim 💯
Keek safe Tim with that approaching storm ☔️ 🙏
Great info as always .. NZ putting tax up on everything .. 😮 I’m glad I live in SEA
Good morning Tim 🙏 stay dry 🌧️
I myself am more concerned with ease of travel. This involves the time it takes to enter and leave the country. I will pay the tax👮♀️I just don’t want to wait in a long line to pay it. Hopefully it is added to the ticket price. What it might affect is some people living along borders from transiting between countries as much especially if some have been doing it daily.
