Fun fact: This video was filmed in Parque de Santa Lucía (St. Lucía Park) in Mérida, Yucatán, México, where elderly people use to gather to dance "danzón", a typical cuban music genre. It is most likely that these people never had listened the actual song by Bombay Bicycle Club, but the overlapping of the music to a non-corresponding image makes it beautiful, it is all about enjoying the moment. I live in Mérida, and I can assure you that this is the spirit of our people.
Siempre imaginé que era en Merida, pero nunca exactamente dónde. Gracias por la información. Esta es una de mis canciones favoritas, cuando fui al concierto en cdmx la gente estaba euforica cuando tocaron esta rola.
Yes, of course it's a right word to describe this climate...Song is a little bit sad, it's true. But look, those dancing people give you a lot of hope, faith...:)
+Tom Sheldon This song and "How Can You Swallow So Much Sleep" are sooo chill and have helped me with my major depression, so I know what you mean. Stay strong. You're loved. :)
Watching old people dance gives me hope. All those people have made it through the shit in their lives to dance at that very moment. It makes me hopeful for the future that someday all my problems won't matter and I can just dance too.
I listened to this song over and over when my brother was in the last month of his life. For some reason it brought me comfort. I haven't listened to this song since 2012 and today I watched the video. floods of emotions but I feel OK. beautiful song x
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s really a beautiful song. I listen to certain songs and think of my dad who passed away suddenly on 2/13/22. Music is pretty amazing like that. It connects us to our feelings and may sound corny but I swear it heals me some. I feel the joy, the sorrow, the love, the loss, and it’s all part of it.
Brings tears to my eyes for some reason. I think it's the vulnerability and exposure of yourself that dancing provides, mixed with the various races of people, all connecting through music and letting themselves be taken by it. It is happiness and enjoyment at its most basic form and to see the world forget their differences for a moment and rejoice together in dance is very humbling.
Man when I first heard this song, I was thought it was so chill, I immediately fell in love. Then when I watched the music video, I don't know why but I just feel like crying?? Nonetheless this song is so good. It's kinda hard to describe this song, but I can't compare it to anything I've ever heard before.
all sounds of this song send me to the places in my mind where all is nature, woods, trees, lagoons, rivers, where i´m going walking alone, in a day with a great and melancholic sunset, that make me feel nostalgic and happy, for the past future and present, make me feel hope and then... some many tears flooding my eyes.
Lyrics: Keep your old and wasted words My heart is breaking like you heard But the town has always turned These lies and made them all burn Keep your old and wasted words My heart is breaking like you heard But the town has always turned These lies and made them all burn Can you feel the leeches bite That boy that she took out tonight He's brave and walking sure Through all the spots you're working for Keep your old and wasted words My heart is breaking like you heard But the town has always turned These lies and made them all burn When the light is out and words have gone Let me be the one to try it on [repeat]
Such a lovely music video. Plus it is fantastic to see a comments section full of people being respectful and thankful. A beautiful band with an incredibly sweet fanbase. God bless you all. ♥
At first I was like wtf, but now when I see this video I get all teary eyed. There is something beautiful about these older couples dancing together like this. And the lyrics actually go quite well with the video.
This video has so much emotion, to those saying they got lazy and that the video is boring... you need to get out and experience life. This video hits close to home and im in love with this bands music.
This song & video makes me so happy. These people are dancing and just being happy. I'm so stressed out right now that this video made me realize I just need to breathe and be happy.
This is one of the most unique songs I’ve ever heard. Has been for the past 10 years. It really is in the instruments used, the dynamics, and how it progresses all the way to the end. The lady’s voice is a huge touch!
Lo Jones, if you can read this, I miss you. I still remember the late night projector and the Sunday lie-ins on our day off. I remember you blasting this song out loud whenever we needed a boost. Call your old friend from MLA - she misses you
Just heard this morning. Never heard of them before. Now im hooked. Theres a happy upbeat Talking Heads sound in a lot of their songs. Great musicianship
I remember seeing Bombay bicycle play life at Coachella in 2014 i think… Ive never smiled so much at a concert. And watching the music videos still make me smile the same way 🥰💗 It makes me so happy they’re back
Eu amo essa música, ouço há anos e nunca enjôo. Também ammoooo o o clipe, a dança e o som. Tudo isso passa uma sensação de esperança de que algum día eu ainda serei feliz.
Its been 4 years since i listened to this song, today i watched the video while driving with the love of my life, i could see her dancing with me when we are old and happy, i love her
The beauty radiates off of every single human in this video. I could rewatch this a thousand times over and see someone in the back new, and I'd get the same giddy feeling as watching the man with the paper in his pocket protector the first time, or the woman in yellow, etc. This collaboration is a modern masterpiece.
years after years whenever ı listen this song ı feel the golden hour time a day inside me and a little warm breeze ,a pure joy and free state of mind.. ❤
I was born in Merida, over 1 million people live in this city. It is kind of lost since it is the only big city other than Cancun in the Yucatan peninsula. However, it has been spared from all the drug violence since no drugs go through here to the US and thus remains a very safe and beautiful city. Amazing video, makes my day every time.
I wish everyone could accept each other's differences and just be happy in one another's presence but sadly that may never happen in my lifetime, or maybe ever unfortunately.

Lyrics:
Keep your old and wasted words
My heart is breaking like you heard
But the town has always turned
These lies and made them all burn
Keep your old and wasted words
My heart is breaking like you heard
But the town has always turned
These lies and made them all burn
Can you feel the leeches bite
That boy that she took out tonight
He's brave and walking sure
Through all the spots you're working for
Keep your old and wasted words
My heart is breaking like you heard
But the town has always turned
These lies and made them all burn
When the light is out and words have gone
Let me be the one to try it on
[repeat]
