  • This is a short review of Meopta Meopro Air binoculars. This binocular is better than Zeiss Conquest HD or Vortex Razor in the $1000 category.

    Greetings to all. The other day I bought Meoptu pro Air. Before that I went to another store to see Swarovski El. I bought Meoptu. I am very satisfied. 😃

    I bought one last week...Its extremely good. Just as good as my former Zeiss Victory FL 10X56 wich had even blurry not sharp edges..The Meopta has clear sharp edges without distortions.

      Hi there, how do you find the focus wheel? I’ve read from a few users that it is stiff and might be a big hindrance specially birdwatchers who need quick focusing. Has it by any chance gotten a bit loose? Appreciate your help.

    i have the meopta b1 8x42 and in the past owned a pair of swarovski slc 8x42 which i found hard to use due to blackouts and strange focusing
    i love my meopta they feel just right in weight and the view is stunning so sharp and clear its a shame these are not well known great optics for the money

    Best regards, Rainer

    So what shocks about these Meopta MeoPro Air HDED+ is that what you get here is pretty much the *SAME* quality (both: build & optics) of an Alpha, for just around *HALF* the price.
    I wonder what the differences are between these and the MeoStar B1 Plus HD.

    Excellent review with very relateable language and opinions, I very much appreciate that.
    Here in Australia it seems that the 8x42 is retailing at $1695aud so that lessens the "value" one might realise but I haven't yet started asking around for prices so better value may be out there somewhere.

      After a few phone calls around today searching for the meopro Air in 8x42 I learned that Winchester Australia (meopta's Australian distributor) have not and will not bring the model into the country....

    Just recieved My Meopta Meopro Air 8×42 yesterday Extreamly pleased with the optical quality tested them in sunset and sunrise condition very sharp Edge to Edge was not sure at first if they had flatenar elements in them but after viewing through them it is aparrent that they do infact seem to have field flatenars a little bit of rolling shutter if you dont know where to set the eyecups but once set they are perfectly sharp across the visual field only thing they could have done better is add abbe konigg prizms but that would add weight and not a dealbreaker for me as I will atest they are plenty bright enough for hunting in first hunting light or stargazing after sunset thanks for making your video definatly helped me decide!!.

      @Mr48374837 Yes sir Focus wheel is One of the few major negatives on this binocular also could be a bit brighter but still not too bad I think where it does best is pulling contrast and definition another takeaway is the color tones aren't as ultra vivid as zeiss but on the other hand it doesn't look artificial..different eyes will have different opinions on this product I also recommend trying zeiss conquest hd just to get a feel for other options at this price point and if you have a few extra bucks try something with abbe Konig prizm while I don't recommend razor hd the razor uhd by vortex ant a bad choice

      Just bought one in 8x42 as it was on sale for 480€ new on German eBay. Focuser is very smooth, field of view is large - I think it's perfect for birding as that's what I bought it for. The 10x42 might be a better choice however. The eye relief on the 8x42 is almost too long. Works great for glass wearers though, like myself.

      @@jagmeetsmann Producers test their optical systems in a reliable, professional test setup.
      The should have used a the method according accoring ISO14490-5. It is defined that the light must have a relative spectral power distributions from 380 nm bis 780 nm as defined as D65 (T=6500K, daylight) in ISO 11664-2 (max. uncertainty of 0,5%)
      Correct Tests would have shown that reality matches rather good with the announcements from Swarovski.
      Anyhow, all kind of this measurements are useless for end users - they should look through it and buy it, if they like it. These values are for developers to check overall performances of optical systems.

    The meopta meostar hd's are about as good as it gets. Build quality is heavy but might be the best built binocular in the world. Certainly more rugged than current zeiss, swarovski's. Leica's are very rugged to but I think the meostars have better optics than ultravids and as good as noctivids. I think zeiss victory still have slightly better resolution but build quality is way lower

    I don't like mine, it is relativly poor in low light, Vortex Dimondback much better in this respect do to i believe better contrast in the Diamondback. The Vortex when viewing a light blue sky has the same color as the naked eye sees, on the other hand the Meopta Meopro Air shows a yellow tint to the blue sky ( exactly what this means I dont know). I would not recomend the Meopta at 1000 bucks, maybe at 500. The Vortex and the Meopta are both hurting for about a milometer or two of eye relief, ok for a 250 dollar binoc but not a 1000. The vortex eye cups are better but the meopta focus wheel is better. Both in 10x42. Without any lense caps Vortex =21.5 oz Meopta Air=28.5 oz on my scales. Resolution in good light is very slightly better only, favoring the Meopta. Edge to edge is a little better in Meopta but still no problem in the Vortex. Field of view a little better favoring the Meopta. I would like to say that Im not crazy about the Diamondback 10x 32mm model. Received new the Meopta Air 2 days ago. My 2 cents. Update: further testing favors the Meopta Air. The more I use the Meopta the more I like it. The thing is, there doesn't seem to be much better in the 1000.00 price catagory. The culmination is perfect in my Meopta Air and this really helps to get perfect focus quickly. No eye strain at all in the Meopta ( almost none in the Diamondback) by my eyes. And it really isnt bad in low light, just that the cheap diamond back is very good here.

    Your obviously not comparing the actual optical performance differences between the two. For you there might not be able to see the difference between an upper end mid grade bino with a top of the line alpha glass. There is nothing in your review that is comparing aberrations , field curvature, edge softness, color rendition etc. there is not a huge difference between a really good $1000 binocular with the best of the best. There becomes a point of diminishing returns per dollar. But I can assure you that the EL is a far superior optical binocular than meopta.

    • @jagmeetsmann
      @jagmeetsmann  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I have 2 ELs. I am very well aware of the optics properties. But you need to look through meopta and then compare side by side.

      @@jagmeetsmann I have compared , the meostar b1 and the meopro Hd. Both very nice optics , in the high end mid grade binos. Or If you like to to use the term, entry level Alphas ( for the B1 at least) Loved them both. But there is a optical qualitative (build quality is another conversation) improvement in the ELs, I might even say a leap to my eyes. And the NL’s are even better. Let’s not forget I’m an optics snob 🤪. Be well my friend.

    My Meopro Air has very poor edge to edge clarity. Center field is great. Pretty bad for paying 1000 bucks. My Lecia Trinovid is much better in that respect. And I know it may be hard to believe but my Vortex Dimondback 10x42 even has better edge to edge clarity than the Air.

    • @MrSeedi76
      @MrSeedi76 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      😂 Nice joke. I have a Vortex Diamondback - it loses in every single aspect to the Meopro Air. Way more false color, cheap eye cups that are uncomfy, way less sharp edges - the Meopro Air has field flatteners, the Vortex DB doesn't. Really no comparison. I'd say even the 250€ for the Vortex are too expensive considering the performance. A 60€ Opticron Adventurer T WP will be optically about as good as the Vortex. So either your bino is defective or you're joking.
