Don, you’re doing such a great job with these interviews. It’s clear that you do it from the heart and you really want to help people that know little and want to get into coding. I enrolled in the Treehouse tech degree because of these interviews.
Love to see Aaron again! Thank you for doing these as they give so much good insight into these programs especially like someone myself who is looking into the right fit to get into, I appreciate it !
Stumbled upon this video this evening. I'm hoping you're still checking in Don. I'm a middle-aged guy, out of work, and looking to get into programming. The reason is because I've spent a career supporting and testing software, so I'm essentially an analyst. But all I have is manual testing background and no whitebox testing experience. To get to that next level in my career, I need to know code to be a QA or Software Engineer. In watching this video, it seems Treehouse will give good concept overviews, but not necessarily make someone job-ready. So in your experience, what options are there to get job-ready? Expense-wise is why I'm considering Treehouse, but I'm curious what platforms/bootcamps you recommend, because you said in this video you know there are some that will get you job ready and I have heard of tripleten, who apparently does job placement (guarantee within 6 months), which sounds great, but I don't have enough money to learn for 6 months and job hunt for another 6. I suppose if I have to get a job - doing whatever - at some point I will, but curious your thoughts/recommendations. Thanks.
great video im currently self learning and doing quite well but i am considering something like treehouse to teach me the things i dont know i need to know
My main question is are the videos they use to teach the tech degree the same as the videos they use in the basic 25 dollar a month tier? If they’re different how different are they and are they more advanced?
They are technically the same. However, in the techdegree they curate units of all the videos so there is a theme per unit and a flow to the courses that build up your knowledge each unit and then with the techdegree you also get a project to do at the end of every unit.
Any update about the quality of the program after their wave of layoffs? If they are still a viable option, this program seems to be a great fit for me.
Hi Don, I’ve just watched the video and I basically got a summary from what was said. So is the Techdegree worth it? It seems like it’s not… almost everyone said that it doesn’t get you job ready… Could you maybe do a follow up in 2022 to see if anything was added to the Techdegree program and if it’s still “not” worth it 😅…
After I am done with my Udemy web development course I will look into Treehouse. I am 34 and i was an inclusion specialist/ special education teacher. I am interested in EdTech and ready to make that career change. :)
Aaron @ 8:35 ... "It feels like you kind of know them". Absolutely haha! I'm on the last project of the FEWD Tech Degree and if I walked into Guil at the grocery store I'd probably just start chatting like he has any clue of who I am haha.
To be competitive I would not use the teamtreehouse projects in the portfolio. Is better create one single big project that implements everything you learned. Teamtreehouse is great though.
@@TheJazzDoll They barely have any employees left, I'd recommend you do some research that's how I found out. Some are expecting them to go out of business.

Thanks Ricardo! I try my best to help. Feel free to let us know how it goes.

You're welcome!
Thanks for the videos. I watched hours of your interviews before choosing a bootcamp. I’m about a month in to BrainStation and loving it.
You're welcome!
I’ve just recently stumbled on your podcasts and am so happy! Thank you so much for your help navigating this field!
Welcome!

Man your channel is super underrated I appreciate you doing these interviews. It’s really helping me plan my moves to becoming a developer.
Thank you and the guest you bring. Very helpful and useful information. Thank you.
You're welcome!
Loved the interview! Would love to hear more from Megan and her approach + tips to apply for jobs

Feel free to reach out to one of the alumni and ask.

Currently doing the $25 a month front end and also using another platform. But I like Treehouse 😎
😎
Great, informative video!👍

I'm always open to follow-ups. There's a form link in the video description where you can request that.

Megan sounds IDENTICAL to Pam from the Office lol
I don't hear it. I bet you someone else will though and they won't be able to un-hear it. Because of you.
@@DonTheDeveloper Haha, let's hope so!
Welp. Thanks. I can't unhear it now. lol

Not worth the money, not by a long shot. If it worked out for you good times but the business looks like it's falling apart.
Are you referring to Treehouse or Software Development because Developers are on the rise, not the decline lol.

@@djcetra Any other recomendations? Hopefully better ones with a not too steep price tag.
