Another great episode. I just started Treehouse Front End Techdegree myself, mainly inspired by TH-camrs Chris Sean and SelfTaughtDev, both Techdegree grads. 👍 on the full screen presentation as well.
I am 45 been in enterprise IT for 15+ years. I have been wanting to kick the tires on getting into dev and have had to work through that I may be too old!
Just wanted to say thanks for the great content Don. Came across the channel looking for a review on Code Smith and have been binging on all of the bootcamp podcasts since. I think I am like 8 interviews deep now lol. As someone going for a career change from a Registered Nurse to Developer a lot of the content has validated my struggles so far and has re-motivated me to keep pushing down the self taught developer route. Joining your discord community now and am looking forward to meeting everyone there and hopefully contributing some positivity and motivation.
34 and going into this with little experience, but highly motivated. Not sure if I should do treehouse , physical boot camp , or another program . Just started free code camp
This was a very informative video. I appreciate the criticism and the insight from the 3 individuals that participated. I'm a business analyst, over 40 that is wanting to transition to web development. As a noobie Treehouse sounds like the right place for me but I am keeping in mind of those holes that were pointed out. Thank you
As a current students of the frontend techdegree i can say that yeah there are holes, and i'm adding to my learning from other resources but Treehouse gave me the confidence to build things on my own :)
@@DonTheDeveloper i feel like it's a ton of things but i can't point them out lol. Github in depth, JS Library of some sort and stuff like that. I can say that they do have other subjects more in depth but they are not part of the techdegree which is kind of a bummer.
Is Colt Steele bootcamp course better than the team treehouse tech degree course ? The treehouse course is $199 per much and Colt’s course is much cheaper. Any of you took either course ? Suggestions ?
Will you ever consider taking questions from your viewers to ask these people you interview? Cuz I’ve watched a few of your videos now trying to figure out my direction, but every video still leaves me with more questions that weren’t answered
treehouse is a starting point for front end at best... a lot of the content on treehouse is also out of date, on the plus side its great for learning basics for cheap at your own price.
A front end developer “tech degree” without any frameworks in 2021? 200 dollars a month to learn basic HTML/CSS and JS is far too expensive. If the slack community is the best thing about this, there’s literally hundreds of free discord channels they could join.
@@empnadajhhh9469 I'd actually like to hear from anyone who has experience with the self-paced paid bootcamps like team treehouse tech degree vs some of the better Udemy courses, could even be an interesting podcast idea. I myself have the Zero to Mastery Web Dev Udemy course from Andrei Neagoie which includes a large discord community for helping people with the course. You are even encouraged to join up with a coding-buddying when you start your course to keep each other accountable if desired. I wonder how closely a course like this ( which you can often find discounted for $12-15 ) compares to the techdegree and other similar programs.
I loved this interview, especially Clinton's comment on it's never too late. Looking forward to the vid with people who join the game after 40!

I was a big fan of Chris Sean when I was first learning how to code. He's a great guy to get inspiration from.
So excited for this review I’m doing the front end track now and I was wondering how the tech degree worked
I really needed to watch this. I’m 42 now and always thought I was too old to start but now I’ll give it a try. Thanks for the motivation!

That's awesome to hear in regards to your confidence. What things did you feel like you needed to learn, additionally, after you finished the program?

I’m surprised React isn’t included in this tech degree
I was too.
Have you checked out the Web development techdegree?
its included in the web development techdegree not front end techdegree

I have for over a year now. That's how a lot of these questions get formed. What questions do you wish I would have asked?
