Considering the collection just came out I'd say that highly unlikely, but considering there's been new Indiana Jones material to work with, they might do something with that
I've played both on steam, and I liked both, but I definitely think 5-7 is more complete. I've also played 1-4 on the DS, now that's quite a unique version. I really like the mechanic of drawing a pattern with the stylus to mimic casting a spell (a flame shape for Incendio, a simple line up for Lumos etc). It's fits perfectly for the system it's on. More love needs to be given to the DS & 3DS iterations of Lego games, as they put a good amount of effort a lot of the time into adapting them. I think it's a shame they haven't done a proper remake of the Lego Harry Potter games like Star Wars has. Instead every few years they seem to slap a filter on it and call it a new remastered version.
1-4 feels like a more complete experience, but it’s riddled with game breaking bugs when it comes to completion. 5-7 has the misfortune of having Deathly Hallows being part of the experience so they have to account for those parts of the map which meant cutting corners at Hogwarts making previous areas inaccessible, and idk, it just feels rushed.
I have more nostalgia for 5-7, though I’ve seen multiple other Lego game reviewers say 1-4 was better than 5-7, which I disagree with, and I’m glad to see you praise the aspects of it that I find they overlook!
Funny that this is uploaded as i've started my replay of 1-4. Granted my PS3 is being difficult with disk games as often it has trouble reading them. Since i'm only 2 levels into movie 1 i might see to getting the Switch port bundle. That would me allow to play without the TV and let my old PS3 rest, since my brother uses it for TH-cam. He used to use my PS4 but the got BLOD last October
when i first played the game as a kid i adored 1-4 because of liking/understanding the first few books/films better than the last few. when i recently played it again about a year ago, i really enjoyed 5-7 more. it felt more engaging!
Y1-4 is the best and coziest game. Especially the first year, that’s why it’s my favorite movie of all time! Definitely gotta buy the new cash grab LEGO Harry Potter game just because. Lol. But both Y1-4 and Y5-7 is 100/10
Great video. I agree with a lot of what you said. One of my favorite things about 1-4 was how the world changed to for example a christmas theme and so on. I think it adds so much. I also actually like most character designs in 1-4. Maybe Hermoine is kinda meh but all the others look good.
i think the character roster issue comes down to how much of a Harry Potter fan you are, and everybody having the same spells allows you to play anyone you want for most of the level. 5-7 also has improved graphics. I remember feeling disappointed that 1-4 didn't have my favorite tracks from Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire, they just kept reusing tracks from the first two. 5-7 has a better selection and range of tracks. I also remember hating Ron's hairpiece in 1-4, he looks so much better in 5-7. Also, I like that 5-7 doesn't shy away from the deaths that happened in the movies, unlike future LEGO games. I feel like nowadays Dobby would have survived and wandered in the background like the deaths in LEGO Jurassic World. The only thing I feel 1-4 has 5-7 beat in is the whimsy and nostalgia you mentioned, it just has a unique feeling that 5-7 can't have for story reasons.
I feel like rather than the appeal of the characters in these games being unique and fun I think the appeal comes in the sheer amount of them and how fun it is to collect all of it. I never cared that I didn’t play as 90% of the cast all that mattered to me is that I got all of them, 5-7 def has more cool cute characters tho
In terms of mechanics and gameplay, I'll say 5-7 is better due to more characters having more unique abilities. In 1-4 after unlocking Griphook and Snape, I was pretty much set for the rest of the game to 100% it. Ron was always the character I switched out because after year 3 he pretty much became useless after loosing Scabbers 5-7 had more unique character mechanics like Weasley boxes, Blue things to fix, Diluminator, etc, and I found myself using more characters often for different puzzles
I say about the same quality but I have more nostalgia for early Harry Potter. Lego games really took a nose dive in recent years, like 2017 onwards they just got too bogged down by crap. And the graphics are just too bright etc now.
For me both Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 and Years 5-7 are both awesome, I had a lot of fun with both games and both are really excellent and they both tell the story of the two halves of the Harry Potter saga very well, yes I agree that both games aren’t perfect but they’re both still very fun in their own rights, played them both ox Xbox 360, Xbox One and now Xbox Series X and I’ve enjoyed every minute of playing them. Here’s hoping we’ll see a Skywalker Saga style remake one day with Fantastic Beasts included. 🤓⚡️ #LegoHarryPotter
I don't think that either of the LEGO Harry Potter games are anything special in terms of level design, but I think that 1-4's simplistic level design was honestly in it's favor a lot more since it aided that game's amazing early 2000's charm despite the fact that it came out in 2010. 5-7 is an objectively better game, but I definitely prefer 1-4. 5-7 didn't really feel like it innovated much aside from the graphics which were already improved in Clone Wars, the dueling mode, and a few new abilities to the LEGO Game franchise. It felt like it still had the same basic level design of the first game except it was out of place in a game that felt very modern, rather than one that felt very classic and nostalgic. I'm still nostalgia for both, but definitely way more for the first one. Despite them adding the dueling mechanic, the combat still sucks as much as it did in the first game and the game gets really annoying whenever you have to aim. Even in that Lovegood Lunacy level, there's this awful part where you have to throw a pumpkin that is one of the most annoying things in a videogame. In general, 5-7 just kinda felt like a filler game before LEGO Batman 2 that hardly innovated anything and was one of the once-in-a-blue-moon instances where LEGO Games started to feel samey. It even undid LEGO Pirates' addition of the character grid in favor of just doing the exact same thing as the first game, which is definitely a running trend. In terms of hubs both are pretty even since 5-7 has brand new areas, but Hogwarts in the first game felt a lot bigger with more secret areas to find and explore. Both games are not great in terms of characters since they all feel the exact same, but I would give 1-4 the edge since that half of the franchise has a lot more iconic characters along with my favorite individual character across the entire collection, Krum Shark. I barely recognize the majority of the characters in 5-7 even though I've seen all of the movies. In general I do prefer the content of the first 4 Harry Potter movies and it made that first game feel all the more iconic when it came to levels and especially characters. I think the roster in both games is honestly way too big, not just with all the useless skins for all the main characters but also with the amount of random background extras. It's especially weird since the Dementor and a lot of the other magical creatures aren't playable. I think a roster around the size of LEGO Pirates would've been better for each game since that one was not too big and not too small in my opinion. Overall I'd give 1-4 a mid-low 8, while 5-7 gets a pretty low 7. Both are boosted a lot by nostalgia, but mainly 1-4 and both have a lot of the same problems, however, in 1-4 it felt more fitting with that game's vibe while in 5-7 it just felt like it was a result of them making the exact same game as the first with nothing new or exciting. 5-7 is a better game on a technical level, but both games play exactly the same so really it's just the graphics giving it that advantage along with the wider spread of abilities I guess. 1-4 also feels way more original since it came out first and felt totally new and distinct from the previous TT LEGO Games, while 5-7 just kinda copies every single thing that it did and even undoes some quality-of-life upgrades from the previous two games just so it can feel as similar to 1-4 as possible, but the only catch is that it has better graphics. This would be a different story if they did a LEGO Harry Potter The Complete Saga game like they did when combining LEGO Star Wars 1 and 2 with the graphics of 2, but instead they've just been promoting this mediocre remaster every few years. Even by that same token, I think LEGO Star Wars II way improved the level design from 1 while 5-7 felt like it barely improved anything. So I think whichever one you prefer depends on whether you grew up playing both games and are a Harry Potter fan, or if you're playing both of these games with no context like Quick Brick Games.
Now all we need is a remake like the skywalker saga but for the Harry potter games
Considering the collection just came out I'd say that highly unlikely, but considering there's been new Indiana Jones material to work with, they might do something with that

The dueling on the mobile port of 5-7 is way better than the console version. It's quite a simple, but fun minigame.
1-4 on the DS is honestly more entertaining than the console/pc versions
1-4 feels like a more complete experience, but it’s riddled with game breaking bugs when it comes to completion. 5-7 has the misfortune of having Deathly Hallows being part of the experience so they have to account for those parts of the map which meant cutting corners at Hogwarts making previous areas inaccessible, and idk, it just feels rushed.

5-7 is better honestly
Yeah 👍
Yes
Cause of dueling
I barely see them as two games anymore. They cover each other's weaknesses to make a truly magical experience.
1-4 since it really gives you Hogwarts vibes
That's awesome to hear I just picked up the wii version for $2, never played any lego harry potter games so I excited to give it a go.

maybe it's just me but movie 7 is my favourite & thus 5-7 is my more favourable game

Really wish the remaster redesigned 1-4 characters using their modern minifigure designs.
mom cam reviews uploaded!

1-4 is just so so good
The best change is that nearly headless nick is way faster in 5-7

They should have made a tcs style Harry Potter game rather than slight lighting changes to the already existing collection
1-4 was a bit more nostalgic. 5-7 was good but the game was so freaking long compared to 1-4

Great video idea!
I have more than 500+ hours on year 1 to 4
Year 5 to 7 i havent even completed😂
Well course the harry potter collection
5-7 is better, because Hermione doesn't look awful like in 1-4
Nice
easy easy w for ds 1-4, intense nostalgia
I love the Lego harry potter games!
lego harry potter is better
