This is a great spot. There is a LOT of room inside that ruin. The way you did it was both very practical, yet still aesthetically pleasing. I really liked how you filled in some of the natural structure (on the walls shown @6:58) while other areas were left primarily the existing structure. I also liked the incorporated arches in the support structure as well as the deferent hollow areas- particularly the minimalistic bedrooms. Another ruin I would love to see you build in is also on the great dam, but on the opposite side of the river. There is a similar structure, this one with no interior hollow space, but instead features a flat roof. I've tried several times to build an aesthetically pleasing castle/fortress structure up there. I try to incorporate as much of the existing structure as possible, which is part of why it is so challenging. If you take requests, I would absolutely LOVE to see that type of build from you up there.
One thing I think should be mentioned, if you're building here on an official server or any server you don't have access to admin/ghost command, be careful when placing foundations or pillars deep into the walls. The mesh for the walls is slightly bigger than the visual aspect of it and you can get a building piece stuck inside it that you can clearly see but have no way of deleting neither with the hammer delete nor holding interact. It makes it super annoying for snap placements and isn't easy to get rid of if you end up doing it with a pillar or foundation. I have my purge base here and it's great so far. I fit 5 gate frames just in the "hallway" of the entrance alone (which is a huge pain but keep trying different camera angles until you find the center snap).
Did a build there once in a friend's server. Made a bath house, complete with two pools, 2 "hot tubs" and changing with an upstairs bar area. Love how it came out.
Ooh, this is so cool! I found this spot recently and thought about building here. Then, I expanded my main base (which was built at the Devil's something, a place you suggested in an older video) and now I am feeling so lazy to build here that I gave up. I was also planning to leave the area because it's constantly raining and it gets on my nerves, so I thought I was better off looking somewhere else. I need to find a more temperate biome now.
I really like this one. Personally I'm not a cave guy but what you did with this space looks great to me. You briefly mentioned your Arena addiction. I think that I share that addiction. Arena is a great building set. I love how it plays well with all of the other building sets.
Very thoughtful approach to using existing structures, which comes with their own challenges that one has to adapt to. A personal preference of mine playing solo is to not put the following into my primary bases: Wheels, Sacrifical Altars, Animal Pens, Shallow Graves, and Stables. In the beginning I used to include them, but it made my bases clunky and crowded. Now I put wheels nearby spawning locations with the size of the wheel based on where I place them. I.E. I have a greater at the Mounds of the Dead and Black Galleon, everywhere else its the mid tier. Sacrificial Alters and Shallow Graves go next to such Wheels since that way, those sites serve double duty with the "resource" I need nearby given that for each of them, you're dragging a subdued npc to the stations. Pens and Stables I place nearby the main base, but I only bother with a basic Stable and a single reinforced pen.
I start the same but use ceilings.. The stairs go to the thrall wheels and kitchen.. First floor is bar and dining.. Second up is workshops.. Top floor is bed, private chambers and vaults in the ceiling..
I built a room with a transporter there and have storm glass windows and door at the entrance. Never thought of building a whole base there but might now. Thanks for the video
Presuming you're on an unmodded server, you can always pick up the gibbet from the bazaar when it comes around on rotation if you need a compact wheel of pain. It only fits ones prisoner at a time, but it also only takes up a 1x1x1 space and is silent.
I would LOVE to see how a purge would react to this build. You could stand in the entrance with a a pike and take on all challengers one-at-a-time in the narrow corridor, "300" style. I imagine the game would just say it can't find a way in and not spawn though.
@@roderichvaldivie2466 One could, alternatively, make it somewhat less hidden and build and exterior defensive section. There are platforms on either side of the entrance that could be extended and turned into archer platforms. A small exterior wall and small courtyard type area could likewise be constructed for purge defense. Basically, it gives the purge something to attack, so they will not spawn INSIDE the real part of the base, that thralls could easily defend. One would still only need a single doorway to be a gate.
Had our Base at that Spot a really long time. No need to say in our Base the Purge happened everytime and the Thralls Spawned Inside and Outside was a Wave of Wolves and Ice Giants. With inside i really mean inside the Base. But they just spawned in the Lowest Section. They where dead really fast because we had the Lower floor full with Slaves.
@@ryanowens820 None that have showcased it quite so well, though. At least not in my opinion. And this is not a PvP hiding spot build. It'd be great on an RP server, though.
Saw this and decided to give it a try on my own, since I can’t get anything to work as a half step I decided to do the fence step down thing for my entrance
I built a base here last year for my 2nd single player game ( i dont play pvp, just pve ). It came out great with everything placed nicely. Only issue was…. The purge never showed up, so im outside twiddling my thumbs waiting, to then discover they spawned inside and destroyed everything lol.
This was actually built before the Age of War C2 came onto the live servers, it's just been languishing in the Scheduled tab and kept getting pushed back by time-sensitive content 😂 I do plan to purge-test practical designs in the future and include in the video if they're purge-able or not
lol, how do you lower the foundation pieces next to one you just placed? And to get a better understanding of how you built this, I slowed it down to .25% speed and lmao
You gotta place a fence foundation on the side of the foundation, and look down a little bit, it'll snap just below the top of the foundation. You can then place another foundation onto the fence foundation and it'll be one step lower. I agree, speeding up the clips was not the most legible approach, though filming in this cavern was difficult regardless 😂 My new build guides have a totally different system that should be much easier to follow
Always, ALWAYS have at least a second exit from your base - rodentia everywhere have taught survivalists this as least :D Deadly should your base be overrun (and yes, I do know there are teleporters out there - but that's 'sorcery' and all witches are to be burned) Nice build as usual.
I generally don't have non-sped up video, as they end up incredibly long, so it's a constant battle against speed vs legibility. I do have one build that is completely regular speed designed as a learning resource th-cam.com/video/R4kV-Sch8YM/w-d-xo.html It might help you out if you're struggling with certain parts to slow the video down. If you click the cog on the player, you can change the playback speed :)
I wish these videos were more how to videos than speed builds of here's what I done. To recreate this as I'm sure many people would love to its impossible. Constant pausing and comparing. Even if you wanted to keep the speed build, release like a floor plan with instructions?
To be fair this is probably one of the hardest builds to actually explain, seeing as there's no real discernible floor plan and it boils down to "fill to the edges" 😂 It's also pretty difficult to showcase the build at a wider scale given the cramped conditions. I do have a tonne more builds that will be a lot easier to follow though, all including floorplans
@@Eradicati0nn yeah I get that. I've been playing conan for like 2 weeks now and I just upgraded my entire base to stormglass and it tool FOREVER. Although I'm pretty creative I struggle with buildings. So I keep looking for nice builds. Kind of similar to what you get with mine craft. A step by step guide with a floor plan and how much mats are needed. It's a niche. Maybe it could be worth doing. Maybe I'll do it haha. Im just crap with architecture 😂
It's two tracks, this first is Magic Forest and the second is Lost Frontier, both by Kevin MacLeod. They're creative commons so you hear his work a lot on TH-cam 😂 The music I use is always linked in the description if you're ever curious about future videos

This spot is unfortunately one of the many main spots EVERYONE who has been playing Conan for a while knows to check when they're looking for bases to raid, It's called the "keyhole" and it's almost certain that if you're playing on a PvP server that this is one of the first places that someone with more experience is going to come to first, and you're trying to stay hidden do NOT build here as you are just asking to be raided by one of the douche/alpha clans who have been there for years and just want to "own" the server for themselves, it WAS a great spot in the early years but again if you're on a PvP server, do NOT build here, it's only a matter of time, stay small and discreet, stay as hidden as you can in places that veteran players wont come and take you out immediately, building here is a rookie move.

My group did the same only the bar has multiple tables with dancers on them. We called it "Ye Olde Glory Hole"
We have tried forever to find a spot like this on Siptah but no luck yet. Love your take on building here!
This is one of my four favorite hidey holes in the game. The entrance is really easy to walk by and securing the space is really inexpensive

This is one of my favourite spots to build, so I'm so happy you built here!
Built there before. Like your build because you didn't try to cover all of the interior which made it more spacious.
Oh wow, thats an amazing spot! May try and build there myself to see how it is as a purge base location
I have yet to see a server where it isn't taken tho...
@@petroandras well, im relatively newer to conan and only have about 200 hours...majority are just doing single player
I'm not too sure how it'd fare against the purge, but it's definitely a nice spot for a fairly big low-cost base

Ive built in there, but THAT was a masterful job! well done.
I'm picturing this build in a mix of dungeon, and stormglass 0_0 I need to make it!
Love your ingenuity my man. Keep em coming
LOL my tribe had a base here when Exiles first started, then it got expanded around to the Lake and then Kaiza built a few docks and 2 large ships
an interesting take on that spot. might build a base there again sometime. 👍
Is it possible to include notes at the end of videos if the purge has any issues with Build and/or Location?

And no shade on slowing it down, it made me laugh to no end because you sounded like you were ultra hammered, as slow as your speaking was. xD
I have not visited there yet... how high is the interior? Is it possible to get an extra level in there?
I'm pretty sure building here despawns the thralls that are directly above you.

have you ever build an ice cave base? i need inspiration for a good ice cave base!
I did build there a time ago, I could probably do a much better job nowadays though
I remember me and my buddies building our base in there. But then a mod or admin of the server used an exploit to glitch inside it and loot our base
