I watched the Louder Than a Bomb documentary my sophomore year of high school in 2016 when we were doing a poetry unit. Back then, I was obsessed with writing slam poetry myself already. But this piece stuck with me so much that I've returned to it again and again since. I've looked up your other work, Nate, and I'm so glad you're doing well for yourself. I don't write much poetry anymore, but I will remember this forever.
Just watched a film on this. I never thought much of poetry, but after seeing the film I understood that they can mean a lot not only to the writers, but to the people listening. I loved this poem, great job!
love louder than a bomb. Literally watch this poem at least once a month. Sometimes a few times a week. Every once in a while 2 or 3 times in a row. Every viewing you hear or understand something new. Amazing writing and presentation
If you watch the documentary he explains how he did that on purpose to play with that brash stereotype of battle rap thugs to contrast with his true intentions and humility which you can see in his lyrics: Start: "Look, I got these rappers shook"... End: "Look, these other poets go ME shook"
@nosiphogumede he wanted to do a slam poem like a battle rap. halfway through he thought it was shallow, and offset it by turning it into a commentary about putting up a strong front to hide your fear. hope i helped!
Hey Nate, i'm working on a project that incorporates " Louder than a bomb", and I was wondering if you could give me some characteristics of yourself from when you were in the recording stage of the documentary.

Watched this documentary for the first time a couple months ago on Netflix... I have seen it at least a 100 times since.
Over 10 years and it still gets me choked up. It's an incredible piece.
That last line. Golden.
I like how he turns it around and no longer talks about how he good but how he got inspired to even start writing
He moves me...he brings me to tears.
