    They are responsive! They sure deserve credit for that. A good sign to see in today's world! That's what keeps a company in business, constant improvement. Very glad to see it!

    Kinda cool that the folks at Ep Cube actually watched your install and reached out to you with updates and such so you could make a video about all of it. Good to see they understand that they can possibly gain more interest in their products via your channel...maybe they will reach out and make you some offers to expand your system and showcase more of their products on your channel as well.

    Evan, the physical characteristics of the batteries is such that the overall life span is reduced more, when you go below the ~15% state of charge. I know for boat installations they like it to go NO lower than 20% state of charge, to maximize life span, the ones who wish to have the batteries last as long as possible set the upper charge to +86% and the lower to ~35%. So larger battery with less strain, for longer life span.
    This all changes with updates to battery chemistry and charging/discharging regimes. It's a moving target.
    Best wishes all.

    Thank you SO MUCH for doing this update video... & to EP Cube for being engaged & sending updates! A really big thing not addressed is the idea of an "expert mode" for those of us that want to geek-out more with settings, config, etc. It would be AWESOME to be able to toggle into "Advanced Settings" to really dial-in more of the settings for how the system interacts with the grid, etc. Keep up the great work!!!!

    Maybe you should consider becoming a solar installation and advise consultant for that company. lol Don't know if that's even possible, but you are so knowledgeable about that system and lots of people would love to be able to install their own, but lack the technical knowledge. Could be an extra income source! lol

    Any idea why it doesn't support manual (portable) generator? how does it know the difference if it's getting input power. I have a portable 10 KW generator from Genmax and I was hoping I can use that in case of extended power outage.

    • @CountryViewSolar-DIYProjects
      @CountryViewSolar-DIYProjects  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Right now the system ignores the generator input until it requests a generator to start when batteries are less than 20%. It needs to recognize when a manual generator is started any time the grid is down. Software needs updated to monitor the generator input.
      Right a manual generator would need to started when the battery is around 20% to trick the system into using it.

    Great video thanks for the update. Just a couple questions.
    Are you dealing with signature Solar customer service or ecube's/eg4.
    And I know these systems are relatively new, which do you think are more user-friendly, setup and monitoring. Thanks

    Out of curiosity, what led you to use the EP Cube? It seems like it's missing some key features that have existed for quite some time with systems like the Sol-Ark 15k/Battery combos (e.g. HomeGrid like I have)?

    The app has to be running to get notifications? 😢😢😢

    • @Frombie_01
      @Frombie_01 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How would you get notifications if the app was disabled? As that is basically the only time an app is not running.

    • @CountryViewSolar-DIYProjects
      @CountryViewSolar-DIYProjects  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      You may be onto something. I turned off the grid and I have waited 15 minutes and no notification. This ap was closed not running. I finally opened the ap, and suddenly I got 2 notifications. So I think you right, the ap needs to be open in the background to get the notification. I will e-mail EP cube and let them know.

    My concern is how long will the batteries last 5 yrs or 20 yrs ??? I know the batteries are VERY expensive !!! I have seen in China mountains of scooters and ebikes just dumped because the batteries won't hold a charge any longer and it is cheaper to just buy a new scooter or ebike than replace the batteries ????

    • @CountryViewSolar-DIYProjects
      @CountryViewSolar-DIYProjects  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      10 year warranty. Supposed to last 6000 cycle, then be 80% of original capacity. One cycle a day is 16.43 years

    • @punksjutgbd
      @punksjutgbd 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Actually, batteries haven't been expensive for a long time.
      Now those tariffs may change that a bit.
