I'm confused about not being able to secure the handle to your wrist, I've been doing it for 20+yrs with IttyBitty dogs two of them were Rottie mixes that weighed 100lbs, my shoulder might not feel great afterwards but the dog didn't get away. I used the black strap that came with the leash, works great.
