I'm lucky I got to see you in your prime in 1974 @ Winterland. Elvin Bishop opened for you. 1992 with the Van Halen boys @ the fabulous forum. I think you're one of the great lead singers and performers to command an audience on stage.. That's a tough gig...

I remember seeing you at Winterland around 1976? You left Montrose and I was super bummed but I wanted to see you with your new band. You came out on the opening song ready to rip it up but your mic was dead. You turned around super pissed going like WTF. They gave you another mic and you soldiered on. Was a great show! Have been a fan ever since.
Worse yet, before the first show of the Monsters Of Rock tour in 1988, Sammy was so hyped that as he was running on stage he fell and injured his tail bone pretty severely. He soldiered on and finished the whole show. Alpine Valley in Wisconsin, May 27, 1988. Van Halen, Scorpions, Metallica, Dokken, Kingdom Come did a 3 day/night run at Alpine.
I heard you blaring through those old showhouse speakers in 1981. We had all smoked a few doobies and went and saw "Heavy Metal". God bless you, Sam. :)) 😎🌻

There was a 7 or 8 minute Bad Motor Scooter, with a battle w/ Bill on that set & it hasn't been out done.
Sammy your one of my favorite singers I've got a tattoo on my right shoulder on my back with your original blue bottle of tequila tip sideways with a Mexican and says 50 thousand watts of power red rocker one day I'll have to send you a picture of it!

Having seen you stand next to Bill "The Electric" Church on the Montrose reunion tour, I will at least say that must have been a helluva toss to put it over his head and have it drop down on him! Bill is no small dude! He must not have been too pissed if he joined your next band.
You learned an important lesson early on
At least you kept o going. You could have ended up selling Hash in a Van down by the river.
Better to get it out of the way early.

That's not nearly as embarrassing as when "The Beak" had rejoined VH, and was evidently trying to develop some new tricks, to help conceal his lack of vocal talent. He had some lame MJ imitation "moon crawl" thing that was just pitiful. So he started whipping his mic around à la Roger Daultry. Then they had to stop a live television performance to patch him up, where he whacked himself in the forehead with his own mic. I thought it was incredible, that he somehow missed his nose. But I will give credit when due. The guy was a talented stage presence in his early years. This helped hide the fact, that he wasn't a very good vocalist. But when he could no longer jump all around on the stage, his lack of true talent like MA has, was much more noticeable.
