    From a brother retired fire fighter I hope all brothers and or sisters recover well. After many years of accident free apparatus driving I never just blew a blind intersection no matter what any traffic signal said red or green. I was trained to assume some one will cross your path no matter what the right of way situation was at the time, and to proceed with caution until proven different. Hopefully today’s training still teaches that theory. I can’t say how many times it saved my unit from hitting or being hit. It may take a little longer to complete the response but you do get there safely and ready to go to work. It’s better than not getting there and possibly injuring or killing some of your coworkers or civilians. Not to mention possibly destroying a very expensive piece of apparatus.

    Oh holy shit this is terrifying 😬 you could tell the 2nd fire truck was really trying to slow down, it's just impossible to stop that quickly when the truck has a full tanker. Thanks for thinking to record this so quickly 👏 Shoutout to the least corrupt branch of public service, and prayers that all eight who were injured make a speedy recovery 🙏

      @@dylannjbuff A super good point, and im sure it was even more evident from your vantage point!
      I really hope public officials and the FD brass comes out to reinforce the fact that this was simply a freak accident, and not negligence by the firefighters themselves.
      It's very likely that more than one firehouse was responding to that HUGE fire at the e-bike store, and it's a one in a million chance that they would both enter that intersection during the same two-second window.
      Also thank you for the update about their conditions! Last I heard the second trucks driver was in serious condition, so so thankful to hear they're improving 🙏 🙌

    Hoping for a speedy recovery for all the fire fighters involved. This is such a preventable situation. Slow down at intersections always anticipate a motorist or another emergency vehicle coming. This situation rendered 8 fire fighters useless and 2 engines useless on top of resources taken away from a structure fire for this preventable accident. This is not just the driver's responsibility but also the officer in the seat.

      Unless there was some sort of major mechanical failure. Just giving them the benefit of the doubt but the way the engine that ended up into the tree took the hit and just continued to roll. It may be that the driver was injured badly enough as to not have control but it could be a sign of a brake failure or something else.

  • @rp1645
    @rp1645 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank for filming crash. You have evidence for accident investigation. so important to watch and come to complete STOP Responding with building hiding intersection sight. The siren sound bouncing off building don't give driver good indication of direction of other Responding units. How do you HELP if you yourself can't get to call.

  • @alexkitner5356
    @alexkitner5356 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Am I missing something, when the rescue came thru that intersection the light in the opposite direction was green so you'd think they had a green as well yet traffic seems to be crossing where it should be red.
    If there's an issue with a system that trips lights for emergency vehicles by strobe or the newer technologies then perhaps there was a similar issue at the intersection where the two engines collided. It's not impossible but I just don't see how one of those engines was looking at a red light or stop sign and entered the intersection that fast. Going thru a red is normal but after slowing or stopping to ensure that traffic is clear/yielding. Not going thru a red light at 35 with zero regard.

    • @dylannjbuff
      @dylannjbuff  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well I couldn’t tell if the light was red for either engine but I’m sure it was definitely red for one. One engine completely blew the light.

    • @alexkitner5356
      @alexkitner5356 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sj-dm1th yes, I agree but was talking about the one you could see at the beginning when the rescue went by. It had a green yet there was also traffic in the intersection crossing where they either have a red or more importantly the potential that they're using a traffic light control but the light is malfunctioning and giving a green in all directions. If that were the case then the chance exists that the light we can't see suffered a similar issue. Possibly resulting in both engines having green lights particularly if both had the same device and the light didn't know what to do and made the light green in crossing directions. It's unlikely as there should be some kind of interlock but is possible and would explain why it seems that both engines (driven by experienced personnel, they don't put just anyone in that seat) showed such a lack of regard when entering an intersection while the light was red for them which is very abnormal.

    • @alexkitner5356
      @alexkitner5356 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dylannjbuff see my response above. I'm talking about the first apparatus that we see where they appear to have a green light yet we also see traffic seemingly continuing to enter the intersection. Wondering if something malfunctioned there which would raise the question if there was a similar issue at the intersection where the collision occurred. Particularly if they are running some kind of automatic override for the traffic lights and expect that the light will change to give them the right of way.

    • @dylannjbuff
      @dylannjbuff  ปีที่แล้ว +1
