That works, but its also very illegal. Rear facing white lights is a good way to get a huge ticket. Spraying water on their windshield isnt illegal, and its still pretty effective. Personally, I have rear facing rocket launchers. Works well and leaves no witnesses.

I used to have a old Ford pinto for a work car people would tailgate that thing no matter how fast you drove it but it had a nice feature a hole rusted in the floorboard you could throw objects out of and they would back off real quick I think they thought the car was falling apart in front of them.

I have a piece of 1/2'' PEX pipe mounted parallel to trim, so it's hidden. There is a spring-mounted pin, which can be pulled via a cable and shift lever off a bicycle, which creates a stopper. I fill the tube with tiny glass marbles and when someone tailgates me, I give a little tug on the lever and a handful of marbles fall out, hit the pavement, some shattering and some bouncing up about windshield height. No brake lights, no slowing down, just me minding my own business driving down the road.

I've found just using front washer jets on repeat works on the motorway. As soon as they clear their screen spray again, they get the message. I used to have an old pickup and welded a bracket for a large spanner to fit into on the tailgate. The bracket allowed plenty of movement so looked like the spanner could fall at any time but no way for it to actually become detached.
This is almost mental illness the amount of work he did to do this. All you need to do is slow down and let them pass give the 60sec to move on and you can speed back up. I rarely catch anybody again. But I’m not a ego manic and full of myself either. When you know you are secure you don’t need to do anything malicious

I found out, after a lot of years driving in different conditions and people. If someone tail gate you... don't hit the brakes, don't spray.... remember "action and reaction". Just let go the throttle.... and let the guy pass you... let him go away with the attitude. Chances are that you find him later in the ditch or against a tree.

The only problem I see with this setup is that it may be illegal for causing a safety issue to the other driver(s). It may cause the other driver to crash into somebody else and blame you because you made it so that he couldn't see out his windshield and caused him to crash. It's generally not a good idea to be the cause of a family getting killed from a wreck that you're responsible for.

If you want to go the speed limit or less you should not be in the left lane to begin with, this lane is a passing lane. It is very frustrating and irritating when people drive in this lane and it screws up traffic flow, it also causes frustration which you could've avoided. If you want to be safe/slow then please do it in the proper lane which is the middle or right lanes. It is also unsafe to pass someone from the right so if you are in the passing lane forcing them to pass on the right you are creating a dangerous situation. So please use the lanes properly and remember the left lane is a fast/passing lane. Remember the law, keep right pass left.
Or if you're on a hwy that has a right lane with a serious ongoing groove/ rut that often becomes standing water & a hydroplane hazard. (Also problematic in heavy/slushy snow if needing to change lanes.)

I was behind one of these water jerks on a winding two lane road. He insisted on driving 20 mph in a 35mph zone. I was about three car lengths behind him when he started his spraying. His water jet was so strong it almost went over my car. He is lucky I was behind him instead of someone with road rage. This apparatus is a good way to get yourself killed!
Water, radiator fluid, baby oil. Will turn their windshield white when they use the wipers. This is what I keep in a squirt bottle in my motorcycle jacket
I have a diamond plate Ranch Hand bumper that does the same thing without any spray. It helps that there's already some scrapes and different colored paint on it.

I have installed a similiar device. The screws for the license plate are modified so the spray comes from them. But I have also modified the brake lights in a way that allows me to turn on or off regardless if im using the brakes are not. I will turn them on while not braking for the fool following to close

But as a delivery driver I am frustrated and often contemplate road rage due to the majority of people who don’t move out of the far lane when holding up traffic, take forever to change lanes or get into a left or right turn lane while taking up part of the straight away lanes, and you also have people who just don’t look before changing lanes. I get close to getting in wrecks on a daily basis. Speeding and impatience is often a result of idiots who act like they are only ones on this earth
Better location would a be single sprayer under the bumper just behinf one of the rear wheels. Its less obvious and the tailgater would more likely assume your car is leaking something or something on the ground is being kicked up by your tires so less likely to think it was deliberate and thus less likely to cause a road rage situation.

Most of the causes of tailgating is slow a-holes in the left lane. I always use center or right lanes for cruising. In case of a real nut job I'm prepared with my glock 40. Hopefully it never comes to that but you never know.

As long its not blue your in the clear. If there is an issue with actual strobe tubes in the rear lights just go with a wig-wag flasher on the tail lamps, NOT on the brake lamps. There are little or no restrictions on red or yellow flashers to the rear of a car.
My brother did the same thing back in the seventies he also had a Honda Civic hatchback he hooked up a box with 100 separate holes , each hole was wired to a switchboard in the front seat, each hole also contained a bottle rocket. If the water didn’t work he had his hatch wired up to his front seat so when he pulled the hatch handle it would pop up and up to 100 bottle rockets would begin to fly, if he was being chased he had his break lights hooked up to a toggle switch so he can run silent down the side streets. He also had a plastic ping pong ball shooter he rigged up to plug into the cigarette lighter that shot small rockets. Fun times

I've only used it a couple of times when I was being blinded by someone tailgating at night with their high beams on. That blinds me because I have towing mirrors on my truck sinceI frequently tow a horse trailer. But when I'm not towing a trailer, that headlight beam is aimed right at them. Nope, THEY ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT PASS! They just want you to go faster. Leader gets the ticket? You do something to piss them off and they will close the distance to under 10 feet at 60mph. Don't brake check them, they are not insured. You'll never get anything out of them. And those stickers of guns on your Jeep? Those will get your vehicle burglarized, repeatedly. Good luck fella.

I put a 75/25 mixture of coca cola and washer fluid in mine. More washer fluid in the winter so it doesn't freeze up. the coca cola will get sticky on their windshield and if they don't wash it off right away it will mess up their paint on their car. I have a 5 gallon gama bucket strapped in the back of my hatchback with a pump used for to pump water out of a bilge in a boat or fill a livewell. The nozzle ends are the ones used in irrigating a yard mounted up on the spoiler of my car. I have it rigged up to a button just under the cushion on my armrest so I can get them james bond style, haha. I've also been thinking about setting up a device that dumps nuts and bolts out on the concrete to hit their car and ruin their paintjob/crack their windshield. You don't want to tailgate me, lol. I don't really get very many tailgaters and I can always just brake check them. I drive slower than a lot of people on interstates. Most people pass me because they can't tolerate my speed.

And for an improvised pepper spray here in Australia where they're illegal, I just use a small coke bottle full of petrol with food dye to colour it like coke. The only problem I see with this setup is that it may be illegal for causing a safety issue to the other driver(s). It may cause the other driver to crash into somebody else and blame you because you made it so that he couldn't see out his windshield and caused him to crash. It's generally not a good idea to be the cause of a family getting killed from a wreck that you're responsible for.

Instead of water use brake fluid or oil and run the line under your vehicle so when you press the red button it makes a fine mist and they air turbulence carries it to their windshield and they have to use their wipers and then they have to pull over all the while it doesn't look like it's a purposeful act and more like a fluid leak from under your car.

If you want to go the speed limit or less you should not be in the left lane to begin with, this lane is a passing lane. It is very frustrating and irritating when people drive in this lane and it screws up traffic flow, it also causes frustration which you could've avoided. If you want to be safe/slow then please do it in the proper lane which is the middle or right lanes. It is also unsafe to pass someone from the right so if you are in the passing lane forcing them to pass on the right you are creating a dangerous situation. So please use the lanes properly and remember the left lane is a fast/passing lane. Remember the law, keep right pass left.

Or if you're on a hwy that has a right lane with a serious ongoing groove/ rut that often becomes standing water & a hydroplane hazard. (Also problematic in heavy/slushy snow if needing to change lanes.)

@@mammadtori3964 its a matter of following the law and using common sense. you should know there is a leeway of speed over the limit the can be traveled without being pulled over and many people travel within this limit. there is no justified reason to sit in the left lane if someone wants to pass, doing so only causes unsafe conditions.
The speed limit of the road is irrelevant. If you're going 90 mph in the left lane and a vehicle behind you is getting closer, you are legally considered "slower traffic." Now move over Grandma.

I was behind one of these water jerks on a winding two lane road. He insisted on driving 20 mph in a 35mph zone. I was about three car lengths behind him when he started his spraying. His water jet was so strong it almost went over my car. He is lucky I was behind him instead of someone with road rage. This apparatus is a good way to get yourself killed!
Water, radiator fluid, baby oil. Will turn their windshield white when they use the wipers. This is what I keep in a squirt bottle in my motorcycle jacket

I have a diamond plate Ranch Hand bumper that does the same thing without any spray. It helps that there's already some scrapes and different colored paint on it.

Gave me an idea to just to divert existing rear wiper washer nozzle straight back and up. Not as powerful, but effective to a degree.

I have installed a similiar device. The screws for the license plate are modified so the spray comes from them. But I have also modified the brake lights in a way that allows me to turn on or off regardless if im using the brakes are not. I will turn them on while not braking for the fool following to close

I live in SB county in California and you are right, everyone is in a hurry. But as a delivery driver I am frustrated and often contemplate road rage due to the majority of people who don’t move out of the far lane when holding up traffic, take forever to change lanes or get into a left or right turn lane while taking up part of the straight away lanes, and you also have people who just don’t look before changing lanes. I get close to getting in wrecks on a daily basis. Speeding and impatience is often a result of idiots who act like they are only ones on this earth

Better location would a be single sprayer under the bumper just behinf one of the rear wheels. Its less obvious and the tailgater would more likely assume your car is leaking something or something on the ground is being kicked up by your tires so less likely to think it was deliberate and thus less likely to cause a road rage situation.

I did something like that back in the 90s, and got in trouble big time when I used to live in Illinois, I was eventually caught and fined 5,000 dollars... so my best advice is to slow down, bc there's only 2 things that can happen either he passes you or you both get pulled over, whatever you do, don't react or start making hand gestures like a G Dsmn fool, keep in mind that you already have a person behaving erratically behind you...

Most of the causes of tailgating is slow a-holes in the left lane. I always use center or right lanes for cruising. In case of a real nut job I'm prepared with my glock 40. Hopefully it never comes to that but you never know.
by slow do you mean people driving the posted MAX speed limit? because I often have people ride my ass all pissed off because I am not breaking the law, but doing the exact speed max which you can drive any speed below. that is the max not what you MUST travel. but i don't drive in the left lane either except to pass.

A dry chemical extinguisher works great as a defensive tool. Most are filled with a baking soda chemical that is non toxic, avoid any chemical based extinguishers such as Purple K.

As long its not blue your in the clear. If there is an issue with actual strobe tubes in the rear lights just go with a wig-wag flasher on the tail lamps, NOT on the brake lamps. There are little or no restrictions on red or yellow flashers to the rear of a car.

My brother did the same thing back in the seventies he also had a Honda Civic hatchback he hooked up a box with 100 separate holes , each hole was wired to a switchboard in the front seat, each hole also contained a bottle rocket. If the water didn’t work he had his hatch wired up to his front seat so when he pulled the hatch handle it would pop up and up to 100 bottle rockets would begin to fly, if he was being chased he had his break lights hooked up to a toggle switch so he can run silent down the side streets. He also had a plastic ping pong ball shooter he rigged up to plug into the cigarette lighter that shot small rockets. Fun times

Pretty slick. One thing I've done is hook up a single tractor headlight on the back of my camper. I've only used it a couple of times when I was being blinded by someone tailgating at night with their high beams on. That blinds me because I have towing mirrors on my truck sinceI frequently tow a horse trailer. But when I'm not towing a trailer, that headlight beam is aimed right at them. It makes them back right off. 😏
good idea . I may try that. With the wiper set up why not use used synthetic motor oil thinned out with diesel fuel instead of water. This will definitely get them off your ass. once they hit their wipers it will smear all over their windshield. They'll definitely back off then.

Add petroleum jelly to the water. When they got their wipers, they'll smear jelly and have a hell of a time getting it off.
Vaseline and water don't mix...and the holes on those sprayers are way too small...they would instantly clog.

Using wasp spray on someone will not hurt them or stop them. It's also highly illegal to use a product for any other purpose than its intended use. There are videos on here where a guy was sprayed with it to test the theory of using wasp spray on an attacker. He said it just burned his eyes. But it wasn't debilitating.

I carry standard BB Gun bb's. When I need to I'll goose the throttle and drop a few out of my window. You can imagine the rest. It's been effective 100% of the time, so far and I don't have to drill holes in my truck.

I have spent a lot of time driving in California and I can tell you this will not work. California has a lot of two lane rural roads with stupid slow speed limits. I set cruise at 60 in a 50mph zone and some guy will always come up and glue himself to my bumper. Bump the cruise up to 65, still there, 70, still right there. Slow down so he can pass? Nope, THEY ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT PASS! They just want you to go faster. Leader gets the ticket?
You do something to piss them off and they will close the distance to under 10 feet at 60mph. Don't brake check them, they are not insured. You'll never get anything out of them.

I put a 75/25 mixture of coca cola and washer fluid in mine. More washer fluid in the winter so it doesn't freeze up. the coca cola will get sticky on their windshield and if they don't wash it off right away it will mess up their paint on their car. I have a 5 gallon gama bucket strapped in the back of my hatchback with a pump used for to pump water out of a bilge in a boat or fill a livewell. The nozzle ends are the ones used in irrigating a yard mounted up on the spoiler of my car. I have it rigged up to a button just under the cushion on my armrest so I can get them james bond style, haha. I've also been thinking about setting up a device that dumps nuts and bolts out on the concrete to hit their car and ruin their paintjob/crack their windshield. You don't want to tailgate me, lol. I had an uncle once who was in a tractor pulling a manure spreader....and got some city dude in a pickup tailing him.....so my uncle gave him a windshield full of cattle manure, haha.

And for an improvised pepper spray here in Australia where they're illegal, I just use a small coke bottle full of petrol with food dye to colour it like coke. You can carry it in your hand past police and they won't question it but if someone attacks, just throw it over them, light a BBQ igniter, and break out the marshmallows.
