      I had all three keys and the padlock still wouldn't open. This method did however work. It's brute force and proves, at least to me, that padlocks still are tough enough to safeguard my storage, but I'm glad I was able to get through in the end. Thanks LPL!

    In high-school I had a combination lock that worked for a short time before it failed and stayed locked. I went to the office and complained (it was a school-supplied lock) and I was told I had to nicely ask the janitor to remove the lock or else there's nothing the school can do. Seriously! So I did, and he put the handle of a crescent wrench into the lock loop and hit on it harder and harder until it busted apart. I learned two things that day. 1) These locks are crap. 2) Don't ever mess with a janitor. That dude escalated like a math formula.

    Twist cracking open brass locks has often been surprisingly easy.

Almost every time the maintenance tech was not available to unlock the station and they needed us to "break-in". I have used your method in this video with 100% success rate. The property owner would have to buy a new lock but it was better than another hr+ of sewage spilling out. This is considerably easier when the lock isn’t locking anything. When the shackle has something locked in it, placing wrenches inside of the shackle, too, becomes a challenge that reduces or even eliminates wrench placement and/or leverage…

    • @skorpiiplayz9134

      thats actually a damn good point

    • @alexanderpalmer179
      @alexanderpalmer179 2 ปีที่แล้ว +409

      Actually the chain inside of the lock is instead acting as the 1st wrench, making opening these with a single wrench possible.

    • @rhmayer1
      @rhmayer1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +252

      To expand and clarify Alexander's point, when something is in the lock, like a link of chain or the loop of a hasp, then the first wrench may not be necessary. Essentially, the first wrench is used to (1) provide the optimum height for the second wrench. It's the second wrench that breaks the lock and it just needs something - anything hard - to wedge it up to the right height, that allows the leverage needed. So if something is already in the lock (chain link, hasp loop, etc.) then you might need a smaller first wrench or small piece of any metal or possibly nothing at all. (2) The 2nd purpose of the first wrench is to provide a handle to give the second wrench grip to push against. Without the first wrench the second wrench handle push-motion is difficult unless there's something to hold the lock in place. If there's no first wrench handle to hold the lock stable while providing something to push against, it might work if the lock is against a wall or door - an alternate way to hold the lock stable. In that case you could possibly push the second wrench down against the lock if the lock is pressed up against the wall or door. But this wouldn't work with a free swinging locked chain since then there's nothing holding the lock to push the second wrench against. In that case maybe vice-grips clamping on the lock body from the bottom of the lock might solve that problem - using the vice-grips to push the second wrench against.

    • @Snyde91
      @Snyde91 2 ปีที่แล้ว +125

      You lose a lot of force if you’re just using one wrench. Unless the object in the lock can be manipulated to same degree as a second wrench. Which is highly unlikely
