I did that once or twice, changing between 20-30mph on a 50mph road because they were less than a meter behind me-not to annoy, though I'd love to, but it was way too dangerous to go any faster-even that for the distance was too much. They backed off a couple times, I sped up, to 40-50 but they came that close again, so back to 20-30. My partner insists it's dangerous, they just overtook me dangerously bad timing with a single oncoming car but I see it as integrity, hazard perception, risk reduction etc etc. So, can you think of any reason this can be dangerous? Despite their actions to time an overtaking wrong

@@55Tonythetigar thanks man!! Yeah my thoughts exactly, there should be a 2 second break distance between cars and as I can't control the car behind, I can control my speed accordingly. It's like when my partner doesn't control the dog on a lead, she says there's nothing she can do to control where she goes (stepping Infront of me to trip or kick her unintentionally, and It's only been once so far). I keep saying the control of the lead length controls the range and depending where it's held, how far in any direction. it's the same with a car, act accordingly and restrict another from how much they can do, in this case distance and speed. I'm so glad others feel the same about it!

I know EXACTLY how you feel, but try this one on for size: You’re motoring along on your way home from wherever and not even in a particular hurry, when from a considerable distance back, you see a pair of headlights turn onto the road behind you. The headlights accelerate to a dangerous and unreasonable speed and climb up onto your rear bumper, effectively PUSHING YOU DOWN THE ROAD. You maintain going the posted speed limit, but the idiot behind you just will not let up. You eventually get to a place where you can pull aside and let the bastard pass, only to see that the vehicle is either a local police cruiser or a County Sherrif Department vehicle…..
The hypocrisy is real, and so is the rage it induces.

I spend up to 40 miles an hour to try and put some distance between us but he just sped up and maintained that three metre distance. Not bothered by my cheap secondhand car, I slammed on the brakes and he rear ended me. Police and ambulance were called and he was found to be in the wrong. I wore a surgical collar for 6 weeks ( there was nothing wrong with me...it was an act). What do you do when the right lane is full with vehicles traveling at or below the speed limit and a police or deputy car comes behind your vehicle and tailgates you?
Do you maintain the speed limit, risking a ticket for impeding traffic.
Do you increase your speed over the limit for the duration required for the right lane to open up to get over, risking a speeding ticket.
Do you get over into the tight right lane, risking a ticket for tailgating the driver ahead & cutting off driver behind you.

Tazius...That exact scenario happen to me on a rural highway with two lanes in both directions. I was driving the speed limit at 55 MPH in the left lane while attempting to pass a car in the right lane doing about 50 MPH. Just at that time a Highway Patrol car came up right behind me, tailgating. I looked to move to the right but the car in that lane seemed to match my speed, prohibiting me moving to the right. After about a minute of this game, I decided to speed up to 60 MPH so I could get passed and move over to the right. As soon as my speed hit 60 MPH the Cop pulled me over. Even though I was going the speed limit in the left lane at 55 MPH, he said I should have pulled over to the right immediately. I calmly said that was what I was trying to do. After running ID checks and other activities, he let me go with a warning. I think he might have been a badge heavy rookie because he barely looked 21 years old.

Great question! I encountered exact scenario one morning while running late for work....as it happened, I HAD been speeding a few miles back, but slowed when I entered town and soon came up on 4 lanes of traffic clogged due to cop taking the lead, under the speed limit. I was forced to speed up to get ahead of left lane traffic as i made a swift lane change from behind him. Despite this maneuver going very smoothly...he pulled me over.
I was so furious I was shaking(now I knew I WAS going to be late) When he asked if I knew why I was pulled over, Idk if I answered or growled. But I do recall him beginning to explain how my driving was reckless, being a school day and all and at that time I rudely interrupted, telling him I was FORCED to do that as a direct result of his holding back traffic, whether purposely or not. I asked how in the hell else was I to get to the far left turning lane to get to my workplace parking lot? Im pretty sure I didn't give him a chance to respond before telling him to write the damn ticket already so I wasn't any later than i was already.
Shockingly, he was polite and quickly gave me a verbal.
I'm still more astonished by my attitude than anything. I only hope that I was correct to point out the issue of his tactics (or driving habit.)

Tailgating is usually due to driver's not leaving early enough taking into the possibility that traffic will get congested and compensating for it. I'm going to use the Washington State's Interstate 5 (I-5) for example. When one comes from the north headed south one can see signs that display the delay times while approaching certain metro area's. Take those times and use that information adjust ones departure time to get to where one needs, and yes this may mean one has to get up earlier and possibly go to bed earlier. One could merely call ahead and say one's going to be in late and generally making up time is not an issue. Far easier than having to possibly having to deal with the following; call and miss work, do an accident report, deal with an ambulance, got to a hospital, find a lawyer, go to court, find shops and get repair quotes...

I turned off the 4 lane h/way onto a two lane state h/way that leads to my street. The two lane is 40 MPH but at this section it is one S turn followed by another. I don't go faster then about 30 as I know folks jog there and one was killed right there in the 11 years I've lived there. I put my right turn signal on in plenty of time. My street is only 1/3 of a mile from 4 lane h/way but it is a blind right turn as you can't see well around it till you are around it. The home sets on a hill and the hill comes steeply to the road. I pulled into my driveway (I'm the 7th home on a street that loops back on itself then back to 2 lane H/way. I did not see the road rage driver or I would not have pulled into my drive I would have just kept looping then back to the 2 lane then to the police station that are on the 2 lane up about a mile. He got out and screamed at me if I was trying to hiss him off and what was going to happen to me. I said you had the front of your car just about in my trunk , there are children that live and play at that corner home. I had my signal on too, I'm not speeding around it and hit a child because you're in a hurry. He shouted I better watch myself as I did not know what he was. I wish to this day I had seen him and drove to the police station or simply called 911 that there was a road rage driver at my home threatening me. Bottom line? I thought about what happened later. I think he was an off duty cop by the way he said-----I did not know what he was. An off duty cop should not have the front of his car almost in my trunk. He should not chase me to my home, he should not get out and threaten me.

Some tailgaters may be in a hurry, but some people just tailgate as a driving style. They tailgate every car in their way, probably to take over easier, even though they are not in a hurry. It's really stupid and cocky. I got tailgated once, he was probably like 6 inches away, he was stuck to me. I didn't know what to do so I touched the brakes, not to brake, but to turn the braking lights on. My car didn't brake. There were also cars in front of me, I wasn't holding him back but just following the cars in front of me. I did this thinking he would probably realize that he is to close and is not safe to be so close. Well, he overtook me at some point and after that he was driving 10 miles per hour, the speed limit being 50. He did this for about 30 minutes. I tried to overtake, but his car was way more powerful than mine and I couldn't, he wouldn't let me. Maybe he thought he was funny but I think he was the problem and that he needs his head checked.

The subject is highly relevant and the conversation was extremely weak. It basically said to be good and such it up.
Tailgaters need correction, there is no place for arrogant aggression or low awareness from the driver behind. There seems to be no measurable minimum distance a following car ought to understand and no real intention on the part of the Police to enforce.
It simply is highly dangerous to allow any driver for any reason to abandon safe distance. One rear ender can harm someone for life with whiplash. Before a rear-ender of that magnitude can happen....there first must be voluntary choice made by the following driver that a collision is of no importance at all

So when a cop is tailgating? I was absolutely doing the speed limit and a cop was trying to push me into a ticket . I couldn't even see his headlights. After a couple miles the idiot sped off all pissed.

If they do it too long, I just let off the gas pedal. Some people may have an ego, or some people may actually be trying to get somewhere. Causing an accident is just going to inconvenience me and i will be getting out of the car and tearing the other person down like why did we need their parents to be born? Unless it is an emergency don't do it. if you follow me closely but try to leave room, I will see about getting out of your way.

most drivers do not care that this way of driving is illegal, needs to be punishable.
i never follow or get on bumper in front, drivers that do have a disregard for Law, these are road bullies trying intimidate, I stay close to speed limit using cruse control well most drivers don't like it if behind you , to much in a hurry to go nowhere mostly.

What a clown. He spent most of the time saying what the tailgater should not do. Then he says to pull over. What, onto the emergency parking only lane of the Interstate? The grassy area on a 2 lane road?
I like the bumper sticker that reads, "Tailgate me and I'll flip a booger on your windshield".

4:53 “And we’re thinking, “Where’s the police officer? Heheheh, heh….”
    “Yeah, you’re probably thinking that….”
Well, I have the answer to that…. *RIGHT BEHIND ME-TAILGATING ME, PUSHING ME DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I’M DOING THE GODDAMNED SPEED LIMIT LIKE A RESPONSIBLE EFFING CITIZEN SHOULD!!!!!*
    *“Because ~that~ guy deserves a ticket…”*
I would *REALLY* like to hear what an actual cop would like to say about this scenario:
You’re motoring along on your way home from wherever and not even in a particular hurry, when from a considerable distance back, you see a pair of headlights turn onto the road behind you. The headlights accelerate to a dangerous and unreasonable speed and climb up onto your rear bumper, effectively PUSHING YOU DOWN THE ROAD. You maintain going the posted speed limit, but the *idiot* behind you just will not let up. You eventually get to a place where you can pull aside and let the *bastard* pass, *only to see that the vehicle is either a local police cruiser or a County Sherrif Department vehicle…..*
This exact scenario has happened to me, personally, no less than six times in the last year! And you cops wonder why the general public *hates* you so much? It’s because you abuse your authority and make problems when they wouldn’t otherwise exist. The average American citizen is-by nature-law-abiding. NOT PERFECT, but NOT CRIMINAL. If you *PEOPLE* would just do your job, learn the LAW and RESPECT THE CONSTITUTION AND BILL OF RIGHTS, *MAYBE* the public would eventually come to trust and respect you like we once did?
As it is now, there’s a very valid reason why the public feels like they do about police.
The hypocrisy is real, and so is the rage it induces.

The question presents a rare scenario. Here is the more believable and common scenario: Idiot in fast lane driving slower than posted speed limit and blocking out line of traffic that wants to pass at safe/legal speed. Solution: Police need to cite and pull over slow traffic in left lane. Or laws passed to make left lane for passing only on multilane highways of 3+ lanes in one direction. Then suspend licenses of people who don't comprehend or possess skills to drive in a safe / legal manner on public roads. Although, its good to see the conversation still bouncing around public channels. Bravo!

Totally agree. There are signs that say lefy lane for passing only amd stupid people think that because they're going the speed limit they dont habe to move over. Doesn't matter if youre going 100, if someone is going faster move over. In Germany there are sections of the autobahn that have no speed limit, but thwy dont linger in the left lane eithet. They pass amd move over and dont get into the left lane unless they're passing. And despite no speed limits in parts of it they still have a lower accodwnt and fatality rate than we do.

But why is nothing ever said about morons who are driving 20 on a 25 for a long distance when the road is clear and dry? They are also a hazard but the police never do anything to them. Everyone needs to go with the flow of traffic. Slow people on the road are just as much a hazard as those trying to do 35 on a 25. So many times I am so irritated following idiots driving 26 MPH on a 35. They are so stupid they can't even read a dang street sign. I will get on their ass some to get them to speed up. I never want anyone to speed, but we all need to get places. You are not the only one on the road. If you can't see well, or can't feel your feet because of diabetes. You have no business behind the wheel. You are a hazard to yourself and others! Driving is not that freaking difficult. Practice, learn it or quit. It is not rocket science. Watch your road, signs and get the heck off the stupid cell phones. That call or text can wait. You're not that important! :)

    • @s16100
      @s16100 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@blah9664 I only follow others too close if they are not driving the posted speed. If they are driving like normal, I have no reason to be close to them. no one should speed, or drive slow. Courteous to everyone. We all share the road, and we all should drive to help each other not impede traffic or race.
