    For Mac users:
    If your instrument has an internal sound card, and you're using an aggregate device, your audio may drift out of sync. This is especially noticeable with drum machines like the TR-6/8s.
    If this happens, open your Audio MIDI Control panel, and under aggregate device, click drift correction next to your sound card and every device relies upon USB for midi sync (unless you're using an external word clock).

    Subscribed! Excellent video, my entire studio is all analog gear and I've been playing with the idea of using live to control it all. Lives clip launching structure combined with the push is exactly what I've been looking for all these years and I think you've locked my decision to make the switch from FL Studio and go all in with Ableton Live 11 suite and a push 2. Well done sir!

    I discovered your channel today and already watched a lot of your videos. Very useful and inspiring! Jesus that moog sounds great. This is a really handy video have liked and subscribed.
    If you were recording the filter changes you were making on the moog on ableton, would you need a separate audio channel to do so?

    • @mredrollo
      @mredrollo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks buddy! Yeah 💯 %. Insert an audio track and take the input from the external instrument channel like I do when testing for latency. I realised after the fact that I should have included a section on recording also! All the best buddy

    Very cool! So far I only sequence my synth from a Polyend Tracker and record in Ableton live but this gave me some ideas on how to do it differently. Though I'll have to invest into a better audio interface as mine doesn't have a Midi Out. Maybe I could do it with USB as well.

  • @antonv13
    @antonv13 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello there, if you update the firmware (v2.0) of the Mother-32, you can set it to ignore the start/stop midi messages.
    Then if you enable the sync midi out, that would launch the sequencer on your TR-8, and you would be able to use the TR’s effects.

    Thanks! Great work, I was messing with this, earlier today - behringer Cat and Xstation. I will do the latency test for sure, tomorrow. One thing I noticed, only have the midi recorded... let me explore other vsts easily ... did not capture that nice filter action from tweaking the synth, nor the patch. I routed audio out of that midi track to another audio track to capture the synth sound. Leaving that capture track monitor in.

    Great Tutorial. Love your Music and i have also the Mother 32 in my arsenal with the push. Do you have also the DFAM from Moog? That's a bit more tricky to bring in because it has no MIDI-Ports. I use an old Keystep 32 or my Drumbrute Impact only for clocking the DFAM. It works of course with the Mother 32 too with clocking, but than you have to check Sync on in the Preferences and as you said the Mother 32-Sequencer always start automatically. With the DFAM together a tutorial would be nice too. :)

    Firstly brilliant video editing is so clean I recently purchased my first synth and I've been struggling to set it up correctly I noticed you send midi to your audio interface but I'm unsure how the midi gets to your external insturements like is the scarlet 18 a midi interface also I've been sending midi through usb but it doesn't seem to ever line up using arps and stuff really unsure if the correct way to sync it up...
    Keep smashing these videos out man I love this channel 🐈

    • @mredrollo
      @mredrollo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey thanks buddy.
      This is the MOST common problem. I specifically don’t use usb cables in any of my set up videos but people keep using them 😂
      take that usb out of your synth and throw it away. Grab yourself a 5 pin MIDI cable and connect that from you audio interface and to your synth. The scarlet 18i8 is a midi interface. Most basic audio interfaces are.

      This is the most basic of sound from my Moog Mother 32, simple saw wave and a little filter envelope. Something similar could easily becreated using Ableton's Analog Instrument. Or, you could probably find a multi sampled downloadable instrument for a similar type of sound yeah for sure, but nothing will quite replace a delicious sounds of a pure analog moog :)

    Just subscribed, nice content really worth it! If you don’t mind a little help. I got a keylab mk2 for keys and synths and thinking to start in hardware (almost bought a mother 32 this week). Would you think that the best way is to start with a push 2 and a audio interface (maybe 6i6) and later get the hardware gear? Cheers, keep up!!

    • @mredrollo
      @mredrollo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for the sub! The best thing you can do is make the most of what you have in-front of you. I know it sounds cliche but it really is the best way to "get started". As you learn what you can do with the gear you currently have then slowly integrate extra gear so long as it serves an extra purpose to what you currently have. It's easy to get carried away buying gear! There are some essentials like an audio interface so 6i6 could be a good choice. I have the 18i8!!

    Hey there. How about the latency if there are several tracks with plugins? Does it stay in time?

      Usually yeah. But I rarely use plugins.

    Hi, i'm completely stuck on something!
    I have a few synths (Model D, Crave, etc) and whatever way i've got things set up with Push2 is not letting me play the pads on the 64 pad layout... If i go to the melodic and 32 step sequencers i can enter notes on all the steps, but if i go to the 64 pad layout, nothing is registering when i play pads... Please help!

      Got sorted... I had selected "MIDI from the synth" instead of "MIDI from Push"...

    I recently busted the m32 and all my gear back out of storage to set up a new pc based studio... I cannot get the m32 to play polyphonically(I know the m32 is monophonic) like you do @19.32... previous build did play as such... could trigger multiple voices via push2.
    I am running through Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 gen2... I seem to be missing something in the link, tempo, MIDI settings... I think I had set the m32 as a control surface but there isn't a default one for it in Ableton so I believe I saw somewhere instructed to set it as a different default control surface and it worked, cant remember which one tho...
    What am I missing? please help, any random youtuber.
    thanks

      Hey mate, as for the example you are referring to I’m just triggering the m32 with an arpeggiator. It’s still only single voicing though. Hope that’s helpful.

    I just want something ware I can create music on the fly and not have to worry about mastering or my cpu crashing...
    That's the main reason I'm not making music.. I've got FL Studio fire edition
    Let's say it makes me crazy...

    i havemy microfreak connected with usb and for the life of me i cant get Ableton to record the midi coming out of it, everything else works

    • @mredrollo
      @mredrollo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't own a Microfreak but for sending and receiving MIDI this will be set up in your Link/MIDI Preferences. The Microfreak should appear in your MIDI Ports list. Then make sure the corresponding Track column is set to On for the Microfreak Input. Hope that helps!
