Thx again for a wonderfully helpful practical guide to a rather complex piece of gear. This will finally get me using my push 3 instead of just staring at it!!
A surprisingly useful video, especially as it was only 7 days ago you left us your first impressions of the Push 3. Obviously, a lot of Push 2 has carried over.
You have the best channel so far when it comes to Ableton Push content that is absolutely useful, spot on and no BS. I would buy any course from you just for doing this outstanding work for free. Thank you so much!
Fantastic video, man. Been eagerly awaiting something like this for awhile. Love how concise you are while still managing to go pretty deep. Would love to see a part 2, the next level, where you explore some of the head-scratching functions that have eluded me so far - such as the adding fx to individual pads within a drum rack, or less obvious “hidden” functions activated with a shift modifier (ie, pressing shift+rec you can do a live 1st pass arrangement of clips). Again, thanks and excellent job!!!
39:46: That is a Godsend. Hope that can be added to the Push 2. While you can change the notes up and down via Pitch freely, are you still limited to moving notes left and right via Nudge up to 100%, or can you move them left and right anywhere in the MIDI clip?
Agree, I refer back to this video multiple times, as I am noob to push. Also this video inspired me to hit [ctrl]+[shft]+[eject] to shut off the screen on my mac and force myself to not look at the computer screen and follow along what meta is doing.
Really great job with this. Your pacing is perfect and you’re teaching at a very useful knowledge level. I’ve been a Live user a little over 20 years and my Push 3 is en route - I ordered Standalone earlier today. Truly excited to see what it can do. :)
Great review! Thank you so much for the detailed explanation and clear editing, which shows in real-time how to perform various functions and how efficiently one can work with Push. I am a new user, and your video really helped me get to grips with it.
I just got my hands on a Push 3. Being an Ableton user I found my way around the device really quickly but there were something's I just couldn't work out the little pro tips you gave. So thanks so much for this you just filled the gaps I really needed! ❤️
you're the man! i regretted buying this thing for many months lol but this was an enormous help, especially the sequencer and note stuff. finally its making some sense to me
i'm seriously considering adding push 3 standalone to my setup,,i've been on the fence for what seems like months now!...would love Meta Mind Music to do a pro's and con's video or possibly a review on his overall experience of ownership of the unit,,it would be very much appreciated!!!
@@Th3rdFloor After having purchased the push 3 I would say just get a launchpad pro mk3 instead and use a laptop. mpe was my biggest buying point and I don't find it that great considering the time it takes to set up a useful scenario with it and even then it's meh..the specs of the standalone hardware aren't even good and you don't have access to VST use and such. i find the operation of the unit to be pretty confusing too it'd be way easier to just use a mouse in ableton. It's pretty big too and carrying a small laptop with an interface would be easier. i was disappointed and don't even find I'd miss any features if I just used a launchpad.
@@metamindmusicofficial Pitch-bends! I've never been able to get them right, but just being able to slide my finger from pad to pad basically solves that.
Very well put together explanation of push3 functions. I recently purchase push3, transferred files from Ableton live and now realizing that files are missing. I need help understanding how to correct that, also how to store completed songs for live playback? Please please help thanks, Tyrone.

I've been trying to figure out how to add effects to an existing instrument and I just can't figure it out! For example adding a saturator to a synth - do I need to convert to a rack or something? Any help much appreciated 😊
You should be able to add a saturator (or any other audio effect) simply by selecting the track, hitting the + button and choosing a device 👍

Thank you for your effort.. but could you upload this video 4K Resolution. Because I can not read your Push 3 screen very well. my eyes is good by the way :) If it is not resolution issue maybe it is about the angle
Im planning to buy my first push controller, it really looks cool and seems like will simplify producing tracks. But it might sound dumb but i have been using a midi controller with 49 keys since past 3 years and havent had any experience in drum machines or button midis. Can someone answer my question on how do you play chords on this device? Like how do i get the piano layout so i can play notes on this? Is it a learning curve if you are coming from a traditional midi controller?
When I’m writing a melody in clip view the only way to add a midi note is with the pads recording an overdub correct? For instance navigating with the jog wheel won’t allow me to monitor and add a note like editing midi with a mouse via ableton?
I think you can still pencil in notes via any of the melodic sequencer modes to create notes without having to record them in. Then you can edit them in the clip view editor. Of course if you want to record and overdub midi notes you can also do so by hitting record during playback and playing the pads.
Wellll, you might as well have your computer open. Agreed, any Push screen is hard to see (at least for me). When I need to see big I need a vga out so I can use a 65” TV! I know where you’re going; great in performance NOT to have a computer on. Doesn’t seem to bother Caravan Palace much. I don’t see a screen output😣
got mine today. I am fluent with Ableton, I know the music theory well (I used to work as a guitarist before switching to making electronic music), but this device still seems intimidating. Thank you!
I still find the push 3 screen / interface disappointing especially compared to something like an MPC. Why can't it have a display that shows the actual interface of your ableton plugins rather than just a label and value? Why can't it be touch? Why can't it be bigger? In terms of plugin control it's still not that much better than a Novation SL midi controller from 20 years ago in terms of screen apart from there's colour coding.
I can't understand why people cares so much about standalone if mostly they will work in the studio in front of a computer. I'd like better if they did a better integration with the software monitor, like maschine, than having a touchscreen that at the end of the day, will just mimic the computer/mouse workflow. Maschine as a controller is the best of both worlds, but lacks audio editing and arrangement. Neither one is great yet. They just fairly good in the lack of anything better.
For a device this expensive I still can’t believe there isn’t some sort of a song mode. With the session view, pattern chains is called follow actions. It can easily be implemented in the Push.
I use it as a controller, as I use the maschine mk3, in the studio. I still prefer the maschine workflow, I'm just trying to go Push because of ableton incredible tools for audio editing and how it combines audio and midi. But for that type of creation in front of a pad based instrument, to put up an idea barely using the keyboard and mouse but still enjoying the visual facilities of a big monitor in front of you and a computer processor and big memory with the best vst's around, maschine still wins handily. I don't care about standalone, I just which maschine has that deep audio editing and arrangement of ableton (not push), or the push had the maschine workflow. The difficulty to do a simple send to a reverb bus of a single snare in a drum rack in push it's a shame, as some things in maschine it's a shame. They all do all sorts of complex stuff but their failures are always on the most basic, obvious shit.
Just got mine today and found your video right away via google, this is a really great intro to Push 3, thanks a lot for making it !

Well done man. By far the best video on Push 3 that I have seen 🤘
