Just done one myself but sprayed it silver to change it up a bit; I did try white but couldn't achieve the lovely shine you have managed. The way the bonnet slightly springs up is annoying, it seems to be a feature of the casting.

Of course, you are right . the casting was very inaccurate. it always gets a gloss painting two coats of colorless car paint with a hardener
