Thanks so much for this Just successfully replaced my crystal. Bought of eBay. Never would have known how to do it. I also zeroed in the pointer. Easy if u google it. Cheers John
For what it’s worth you can actually clock the dial to read zero at exactly 12 o’clock. I think with this particular model you have to remove the bezel lock and push a pin through the hole to take tension off a spring bar that will disengage the pinion so that you can set the caliper to where the needle points north and close them without the dial moving.
@@pinzone4358 no worries. Your video is very helpful as I have to do the same for mine. The only problem is I can’t get a replacement dial, which I need. MTI qualos say they are discontinued.
Or you can take the needle off and move it. While the needle is off it's a good time to disassemble everything then clean and lube. After 40 years it probably really needs it. *
Just bought a new lens for my Mitutoyo vernier dial caliper I purchased 46 years ago.
Thank you for this video!

Thanks for your advice. It does annoy me it isn't at 12 o'clock.
I'll have a look into it. Cheers

@@wormhole331What lube would be appropriate?
10w40? (JK)
No really, what kind??
You can actually pop out the needle and pot it back in at the correct position
Hi, thanks for commenting. I should try that and get it back to how I would prefer.
