Hey Gary, I have been following your videos for a while, I have been going between your videos, transmission bench videos and the service manual on a 46RH from a 2WD Dodge Ram.. I have the overdrive assembled, I have the 727 portion assembled and everything seems correct, even once I put the 2 assemblies together the output shafts spins decent.. But once I tighten the bolts between the OD section to the front section, the output shaft becomes very hard to turn even with pliers.. Its kind of hard to see how you were getting your clearance measurement here in this video but I believe I did it the same way you did to get around .090 clearance from the OD piston.. Any idea what is causing this? I have tried to reassemble multiple times but keep getting the same result. Once I tighten the bolts the output shaft becomes very hard to spin..
Hi Gary!!! My 2001 Dodge ram v8 has a 46RE transmission, and I get a leak from the top of the transmission, but only if the engine is not started for about 3 days or more; any ideas? oh!! and I hear that transmissions have a vent, but I don't know where it is on the 46RE. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
@@carlodonnell146 Are you checking the level in park or neutral? Actually the Vent on this trans is on the pump, if leaking out of the vent, may appear to be leaking from the front seal
@@GaryFerraro the leak is coming from the top of the trans. around the connector, and I wonder if the connector seal is the problem;and it only leaks if the vehicle is not started for days.
Gary, I'm having a hard time getting a rebuild kit for a 2005 S55 AMG with the 722.6. Its a high horse power model. The trans is slipping really bad and throwing P0730 code. I believe the rebuild kits that are out there are for the V6 models which don't have performance clutches. What's a good source for new parts other than dealer?
hi would this be the same proceedure for clutch clearance measuring a 6t45 transmission? also when the gears go back together (like lant and sun back onto the shaft) is it a mattter of ensuring they are sitting correctly or is there timing marks of somekind that would mean they are out of allignment if they just went anyway back on? cheers and thanks for the video
I actually use either a dial indicator or caliper for clutch clearances, feeler gauge i use for checking clearance for the pump gears, but yes a feeler gauge can be used as well. Thanks for watching
Excellent info thanks Gary.
Thanks for watching

What if the housing won't go all the way down what is the problem there
Something is out of place or maybe misassembled
So if I’m only replacing overdrive housing, do I need an alignment shaft?
If your pulling the assembly apart then yes, you will need it for reassembly
@@GaryFerraro not pulling assembly apart. Only transferring “guts” from old cracked housing into new one.
@@bryanhauschild4376 No, you just need a new retainer snap ring. The big one that holds it to the housing. Always replace to avoid vibration issues.
In order to line the splines up with the tool do you have to completely rebuild the OD or can you align the splines without taking everything apart?
Have to take it apart beacuse you have to release the big spring
Impeccable merci

Have you been adding fluid?, thinking trans is overfull
@@GaryFerraro No. the dipstick says that the level is good, and it has been doing this for years. Thanks for the input.

Where are you located?
Buffalo, NY
There is a company that makes performance clutchs, the company is called Alto. The web site is www.altousa.com, see if they have what you need there
Gary I have 2015 Jeep jk. Do you no what translation is in it and have you heard of any problems with it or the transfer case
I believe you have the 8 speed trans in that, havent heard of anything yet

No the procedure in the video id for Chrysler and Dodge. There are no marks to line up, just make sure it's in correctly
@@GaryFerraro thanks mate
Exelente,,,cuándo podrán poner subtítulos,,,mil gracias

Ninguna ofensa trataré de aprender
I would rather see the clearance with a feeler gauge.

Gary Ferraro which parts need replaced in that tranny to make it "bulletproof"?
