Dave, I am also 6' 5" tall, bigger guy, same as you. Lucid is much easier for enter/exit car than Taycan for me, Lucid interior has much more room/comfort for legs etc. For me the Lucid is a much better daily driver. For road trips, never really had a problem with charging Lucid or Taycan. basically, same experience. I would stick with Lucid for comort factor + everywhere I go people, are enamored with its overall design/presence. Keep the Lucid for now. Maybe, Taycan after it gets it's needed update.

Porsche just added battery state to CarPlay for Apple Maps to predict arrival SoC. But I have also been happy with Porsche maps.

As an owner of a T4S and now a Lucid Air Touring I'd say this the Taycan rocks and is still my favorite car. If the Lucid could get the OS together and get it to a stage where it actually works it would actually be a better car as a daily driver and better comfort but that has not happened... . As of today 7/7/23 re: navigation, smart charge programing, pre heat ,Car Play / audio content control (which sucks) takers for ever to load with too many menus / levels to dig through, start up and assess to cameras, the Lucid has a long long way to go from one coming from a Taycan they could fix 99.9% with OTA updates but I don't see them coming out on a regular bases, So as of today I agree the Taycan is a better car by far! Planning to trade the Lucid for a GTS Taycan

We have had our '22 RWD for a year and half now 15K miles, been on several road long trips with it, just an amazing car. Love the immediancy with which all driver inputs are delivered. Steering, braking and acceleration are realized with no delay. Car gets so many looks on the road. Kids under the driving age want pictures of this car. We don't have any issues with our '22 that were mentioned in the video. PnC generally works on EA chargers. Get one Dave.

Favorite comment from the video: “…because of a garbage charging network.” One always knows where Kyle stands on CCS charging…or maybe EA specifically. Touch choice here. Porsche or Lucid. Lucid’s existing software has challenges, it would seem. But, they have demonstrated the ability (and desire) to continue with OTA updates. Porsche/Volkswagen…not so much. One of the points made in the video was Porsche is an established automotive company. I’m not so sure this is a positive. They “think” like that across all of their models, so even if they do have reliable delivery of OTA software, it would be very infrequent. Newer players (Lucid, Rivian, Tesla) push out changes more quickly. But, with all of that said, it’s a moot point with Dave; he doesn’t keep cars long enough to see more than one or two updates.

No way. I own an Air GT like yours. Lucid and Porsche both charge on EA, given the poor reliability you’re out of luck with the Porsche if you hit a bad charger, whereas with the Lucid with way more range you can just go find another charger. Plus the newest Lucid OTA fixes the AC, you get a max AC button. And guess what, it also now auto-preconditions when you choose a charger in the navigation, so the two criticisms of the Lucid in the video have just been solved by Lucid with this latest OTA. The Lucid has more space, is faster, more comfortable, has actual regen, better user interface, vastly superior camera displays, better sound system, and Lucid listens to owners and is continually improving things via OTA. Porsche makes great cars of course, I think the Taycan would be great for around town and back roads, I considered one, but I know a few people who own both a Taycan and a Lucid and they end up driving the Lucid most of the time.

@@dconner9☝🏻what he said 100%. With that said…. Dave, what will the prime purpose(s) for the large sedan choice? I like watching your content. Most of it seems to be with you and your wife. Based on that, get Tesla Model S Long Range, smaller wheels. Your wife will feel right at home with the total experience. Except, smoother, quieter, roomier, more gear storage, longer range than the model Y. And your both get the perfect Tesla charging experience. Comfortable seat, Bailey proof, huge space for goodies front and rear. The best buying experience, best long range road car.
Not picking on the Lucid. If someone wants to have a more expensive Jaguar just because it is unique, ok. Not for me. I will save the cash with the Model S, add a wrap.. or if a Plaid send to Unplugged Performance if I wanted something more rare. Point is… IF your primary goals are to have a great on the road to Florida (and back), with tons of secured space for things (large frunk), the best safety ratings, the best EV service fleet and locations for traveling (IF needed), amazing drive, optional by the month full self drive (yes, for me essential great tool for my long Tesla journeys) that no one else has over the great distances, so easy and stress free while driving manually, the best dynamic route planning (BTW, Kyle better be careful what he says about the “fixed” precondition setting he claims..wrong), by far the most reliable- consistent fast every time charging network, and host of other benefits by staying with Tesla, you both will be happy!
BTW, little T birdie provided stats on Tesla charger base (“pump” for those thinking ICE) reliability.. “five nines or greater”. That means 99.999 up time for the charger “pump”. If someone damages the charging chord, exception. That is still not good enough for Tesla team. Why? That is 22 minutes of down time a year (24/7) when the math is run. Most are stations are above this. However, this a minimum. In the past hard line telecom days, “five nines” was also a minimum. You are old enough to remember the old analog hard line phone network. Expect for extreme tree damaged from storms, people digging up cables, car crashes into poles, the “phone” was always on. Much more than electric power. In this regard, the 21st century Tesla Supercharger team is old school. Strive for absolute reliability at every stage. NO OTHER company has that same view.
Go with Tesla. support the USA team. They earned it. No down sides.

@@johnross6314 Lucid is also USA team, with Rawlinson responsible for the Model S. The points in the video are valid though, I think the biggest one being that the Taycan can do sustained 270kw, whereas the Lucid peaks higher but seems to be have trouble on EA if you’re using anything other than ABB 150kw for me. I’m looking forward to seeing their videos comparing whether the Taycan can get you from point A to B quicker than the Lucid because it works better on DC fast charging. Nobody knows the answer thus far.

Great video. YES trade that Lucid for the Taycan. Not that you're an old guy but the Lucid is like an old man's Buick. You need the Taycan. It suits you.

Very interesting video in regards to the downsides of Lucid.
Get the Porsche if you like it. For anybody talking about socks and whatnot, stop the hating and nagging.

I am actually quite concerned about many people with stinky socks and underwear hurting the noses of the masses rather than them nagging me. I say wash often please, rinse and repeat.

Yes, yes, sell the Lucid while you can still get a good price. Taycan has significantly less interior room than Lucid and EQS. To save money, try to find a previously owned one with most of the options you want. In a good way, Kyle will enjoy “playing” with all the settlings.
You must get rear wheel steering. Using it in my long EQS 580, it has the turning radius of a model 3.

I would get the Taycan in a heartbeat. I test drove the RWD back to back with a Model S LR. The model S was wonderful, but there was something about the Porsche that sang to me. I’ve got a Model 3 LR with AB and FSD. There’s a lot I do like about my car, and there were the things Kyle speaks about in the beginning of the video that I loved about the Taycan. Shame Elon ruined the market for used Model 3s with his pricing games, putting the Taycan out of reach for me.

I wonder if Kyle is shorting Lucid stock… would be a smart move.

If the owner of this car is watching, he might be worried about Dave crashes his car due to Kyle overloaded Dave with Taycan information.
I wish one day I can switch cars like Dave does, it's truly American dream come true.

You are not driving the Lucid anyway because Kyle is monopolising it. Mind you, the Tacan will not be yours either. So whatever you decide doesn’t really change anything. 😳😂

Not the car for you, D-man. Wind noise, acceleration-not to your taste. Besides Kyle is getting one. A BMW I7 or I5 M60 -that would be perfect.

So it is probably a great car but after listening to this it is over complicating things... very Niche but what seems to not take into account it is a car. For the price it should be dang near perfect.
