Alice and Decus would have made excellent characters. Alice actually being good and Decus making the skits awesome with Zelos. It'd be perfect, in my opinion.

All I know about it is that is about Alice and Decus childhood in the orphanage and their adolescence traveling together for 5 years until they joined the Vanguard. And ofcourse one of the things it talks about is about each other complicated feelings during that time. Saddly is only in japanese but I guess you can order it online if you know japanese. I think is cool that Decus and Alice have an official novel.

Alice is actually one of my favorite characters in the game. She's unique, in a way. This is probably one of my favorite scenes in the game. =3 Although they were obviously the type of couple where you could go "She says she hates him, but she actually lurvs him," I still really liked the scene.
I agree about her obsession with power. Also I think that she never thought that Decus would die so she could keep those feelings to herslef. You would be surprised of how hard a whip can hit. But yeah, Emil tried to kill someone how was hitting him with a weapon that couln't kill. Decus died happily givir his life for Alice, and Alice was happy to die because she was going to be with him again. Tragic, but they got the best ending scene of all the characters.

Crimes? Alice and Decus only killed monsters. I guess is easy to judge them from your PoV but try to look at it from theirs. Humans did nothing but torment them, humans abused them, humans were just two legged monsters. Marta, Emil and the rest also killed monsters, what makes Decus and Alice different from them? Try to imagine you live i a world filled with people that only torment you and hurt you, now try to imagine you live like that for 18 years. Wouldn't they be monsters to you too?

Ofcourse what they did was wrong, but when you see things from their point of view you can't help but ask yourself: would I be nice or care about people if no one had been good with me (and I mean no one)? I know I wouldn't. If you could only read their official novel and see everything they have been through...

I think that the best moment is when Emil goes all "OMG, She is hitting me with a toy rapier, Shit! It stings a lot! I could grab it and disarm her, but instead of that I will try to slash her with my real sword. OMG! Decus took the blow for her! WTF!? Did I kill him? I never thought that swords could kill." Emil won the title "Douchebag". If you try to kill someone and you suceed at least have the decency to not to act as if you didn't want to.

She uses the monsters and the Vanguard soldiers because she is stronger than them. And she doesn't rely on Decus, she let him fight with her because they are mates. The difference is that Marta doesn't control the people who fight for her, Marta rely on others, Alice doesn't, she uses her power to force them to fight for her. Is different.

Alice aside of threatening she didn't do anythig evil. Just weird stories everyone told about her. As far as we know she helped the people of Sylvarant and the only evil thing she did (*SPOILER*) was kill almost everyone in Hima, and that was to save Decus life. If you ask me, Emil, Marta and gang killed more people than them.
Well, Alice DID help someone. I can't remember when exactly it is, but in the central area of Meltokio you see an old woman being thrown aside by a Martel Priest, and Alice helped her get an appointment for her son at a Tethe'allen doctor.

I feel the same way. But I don't think that we will ever see them in any spin off game. They are villains (that gives them less chances), they died (even less chances), and they are not in the 50 most populat Tales character list (evel less chances). However I think they deserve it more than other characters. I wish they appeared in other game so they don't lie in the forgotten character list. Even if they weren't playable.

For me Alice was a real "hero", her nihilism and her way to see the world (like Nietzsche) was something I liked. The main villain is Richter even if Alice and Decus had more protagonism as evil characters than him, were the nemesis of the main characters and were the hardest boss. In logical terms they should be main villains,but they aren't.

Even one of her fight quotes in that fight sais that she will become more powerful to protect herself and Decus. What is scary is how willing they are to make Marta and Emil look good and Alice and Decus look bad. Is just a way to say to the player: "She only loved herself. Don't feel bad for her, she doesn't deserve it."

I don't think it can really be said that anything can justify anything-Everyone does things,some good and some bad,for their own reasons based on their own experiences. That doesn't make anything she did "Right" per se,but it also doesn't make Richter or the group "Wrong" either. The Definition of right and wrong largely depend on perspective.
Actually, this is a Namco reference. In Japanese, another way to read 765 is "na-mu-ko." Of course, this quirky tidbit is lost in translation, but it's interesting to know nonetheless. They use 765 a lot, actually...for instance, Will and Karol both had weapons called the 765kg Hammer. Anyway, this is a sad scene...a serious take on two comedic characters.

for me the final boss was Richter really (epic battle theme and all), the other 2 were a joke... though I almost died with the last one lol (Normal Ending... since I screwed the True Ending)
I agree. I think that out of all of the Tales villains whose motives I know, Mithos's were the most believable. I think that he definitely had points that were important to address, things that needed to be taken care of, ie: racism and its impacts, emotions getting in the way of cooperation, that kind of thing. The methods he supported, on the other hand, were unethical, obviously. ;)

Hey, I don't mind you dissing it. :P I don't like FF myself. I'm sure other people would complain, though... I just never liked it. Personally, I think the villain should be at least equal to and probably even stronger and more complex in personality than the heroes. It makes for a much more interesting game.
add Alice and Decus' backstory along with this scene and you can feel like you got a "complete doushebag" title.

Morals of weak: Since they don't have power, they begin saying that the morals of the powerful ones are "bad" and of "evil people". They have envy and jealousy. Then once the others are evil they say that their way to live is the goo one. Such as meekness, servitude, kindness etc...
@topspin13 I hope so, but they aren't the main villains and that makes it harder. The main villain is Richter even if Alice and Decus had more protagonism as evil characters than him, were the nemesis of the main characters and were the hardest boss. In logical terms they should be main villains,but they aren't.

@1aundulxaldin Infact I found that skit insulting for Alice's love for Decus. How can Tenebrae say that she only loved herself despite what she had just done. Even one of her fight quotes in that fight sais that she will become more powerful to protect herself and Decus.
What is scary is how willing they are to make Marta and Emil look good and Alice and Decus look bad. Is just a way to say to the player: "She only loved herself. Don't feel bad for her, she doesn't deserve it."

man i hate the face alice and decus had to die, they should have joined your team or something. decus was my favorite character in this game he especially didn't need to die...maybe they will reappear in a tales of world game or better yet a tales of fighting game!
I don't think it can really be said that anything can justify anything-Everyone does things,some good and some bad,for their own reasons based on their own experiences.
That doesn't make anything she did "Right" per se,but it also doesn't make Richter or the group "Wrong" either.
The Definition of right and wrong largely depend on perspective.

Actually, this is a Namco reference. In Japanese, another way to read 765 is "na-mu-ko." Of course, this quirky tidbit is lost in translation, but it's interesting to know nonetheless. They use 765 a lot, actually...for instance, Will and Karol both had weapons called the 765kg Hammer.

@xomusicalxo Well, is not as if Emil could grab Alice's whip with his hand or cut it. Ofcourse Emil had to try to kill Alice, I mean, she was hitting him with a toy rapier, it itches you know. He only did what anyone would have done, take a sword and try to kill her for hitting him with a toy.
And I guess you meant, 1 slash in the back, wounding no organ= instant death, not by by blood loss. But imagine that he didn't die, Alice could have healed him. That's unfair.

for me the final boss was Richter really (epic battle theme and all), the other 2 were a joke... though I almost died with the last one lol (Normal Ending... since I screwed the True Ending)

I agree. I think that out of all of the Tales villains whose motives I know, Mithos's were the most believable. I think that he definitely had points that were important to address, things that needed to be taken care of, ie: racism and its impacts, emotions getting in the way of cooperation, that kind of thing. The methods he supported, on the other hand, were unethical, obviously. ;)

poor decus, never knew that alice always loved him, she was just mean to him because she is a saddist, but if you pay attention to the game, he's is her favorit "pet" xD... i liked decus, feel sorry for the guy

Hey, I don't mind you dissing it. :P I don't like FF myself. I'm sure other people would complain, though... I just never liked it.
Personally, I think the villain should be at least equal to and probably even stronger and more complex in personality than the heroes. It makes for a much more interesting game.
