To get the good ending, at the start you must not bow before Lloyd the great in triet ruins you cant enter or exit the zone more than 5 times (if lloyd gets the core you did it wrong) and in the temple of lighting you cant get hit by the lightning bolt 15 times (if Lloyd took the core your fine) also must complete most/all the side quests/storys (especially Ricters) thats bout it.
Love the ending, but I'd like to clear this up for a bunch of people: The reason that getting hit by lightning 14+ times in the Temple of Lightning gets you the Normal or Bad ending, depending on how you've been doing, is that the lightning "slows you down", so Lloyd gets to the core before you.
By the way, this is probably one of my most favorite endings ever for an RPG. While I would have liked to see a bit more of Emil and Marta's reunion, it's still quite fitting and very happy. Another time when I was very close to crying. I swear, if the upcoming Fragile Dreams game for Wii doesn't make me cry then for some reason, I just can't cry during video games.
Tales of Vesperia is a considered prequel to Symphonia abeit with some adjustments to the fine details of the plot. I mean who from Symphonia wouldn't want to go back to the past and visit the mother of the summon spirits: Estelle.
naw, seems like YT finally made the streaming widescreen for HD vids. Though all my videos are encoded as full screen LD so this is the result, black bars at the sides ugh.
Well, that's part right. You need both Ignus's core and Tonitrus's core. To make sure you get them, 1. Do not swear allegiance to Lloyd. 2. Leave the Temple of Fire as few times as possible. (If you leave and come back 9 times, I think, Lloyd gets the core. Swearing allegiance counts as five of those.) 3. In the Temple of Lightning, get hit by lightning less than 14 times. 4. Lose to Marta and Lloyd. If you want the normal ending, scratch 1&2 or 3. If you want bad, scratch all of them.
@pezaroo1234 After the end of the story, you go to what's called a Gald Shop. It allows you to use the Gald (or points for doing things well in battle) to gain Story + and carry titles, monsters, and recipes over to your next play through. You can also buy many other helpful things but this is usually the one people buy first. As to the second part about the different stats turning green, yes. This means that those stats that turn green get a higher bonus when you level.
This was probably the best ending in terms of the tales games in my opinion XD Probly cause I loved the fact that there was FINALLY an obvious love relationship between the Main Characters ^^
my brother and i have played out this game and i'm so glad that we had the good ending. I propably would'nt have survived the bad or the normal ending because i'm so emotional
*sigh* watch the whole ending, this video just shows the parts the normal ending doesn't have. (cause Normal and True Ending are the same thing except that True ending has 2 more scenes)
@WaveNX Hmm? Have you not played Tales of the Abyss? That one came along before this one...and while they weren't quite as obvious about it as Emil and Marta, two of the main characters were definitely romantically involved. The male character of the pair followed tradition by not noticing...or perhaps affecting not to notice the feelings of the female involved. Is that sort of situation what you would call a...vague relationship, I suppose?
theres a way to know in advance if you will get the good v. normal ending if you lose to lloyd & marta: if you DONT let lloyd steal ignis's and tonitris's cores- good if you let him steal one or both- normal to get ignis's core- 1. DO NOT swear allegiance to lloyd in the beginning 2. DO NOT keep entering and exiting the triet ruins, once in, do not come out until YOU have the core to get tonitris's core- 1. DO NOT get stuck by lightning more than 14 times in the temple of lightning
list of stuff: 1. not leaving triet more than 9 times 2.not getting struck by lightning more than 14 times in temp of lightning 3.dont swear allegience to lloyd in beggining 4.push richter.. i think, not sure though 5.lose to mart mart n pet (marta n lloyd)
don't worry, he got blocked. He was just flaming other users practically saying what I already answered... in a bad way... in lots of videos of mine >.>
well Fin means "The End" in Spanish, so using it as excuse for "there might be a sequel" is not valid :P yeah, I agree with what you said about Emil. I liked that development he got through the game, being a wimp coward and then become a... manly hero (as Marta would say XD)
*sniff* *sniff* Damn I love this ending! I'm soo emotional so I cried at the bad ending. Then I lost to her and got the good/true ending. This was my first Tales Of game. I only like Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World 2. The other's suck. I want TOS 3 WITH EMIL AND MARTA!!! They are the only ones I like. ;(
I know right, they made such an elaborate background story youd think they were summarizing a whole other game! They should totally make one about mithos
TECHNOCALLY there is. Tales of Phantasia for the GBA (don't be decieved by the system, its an AMAZING Game and lives up to the other Tales games) takes place in this same world 1000 years later. Mana and magic are gone, ad the Earth is dying- just as Ratatosk said it would. Proof of this being the sequel(triquel) to Symphonia is that in the beginning of the game when Cress goes to see the great tree Yggdrassil, Martel appears to him. But there should be another game in-between. thats what i thin
you have to have every core except for aqua, which marta is holding. lose the fight after the one with richter, then beat the boss after that. check gamefaqs or something. i think its possible for lloyd to keep lumen and ignis's core
The door isnt permantly sealed, it was only sealed so that he could keep people (or creatures) out. It will only be permenatly sealed when he puts the seal on the door. Or maybe its never officialy sealed, becuase Richter does get out eventually. Maybe he said just for those to two for now, and not for forever ^^
I find it ironic that you gain a new title that adds to all stats. Which basically, for anyone who doesn't know how the title stat gains work, looks bloody amazing. And then they immediately forget you can start the game again with all previous monsters leveled.. I restarted the game with a Lv87 Hippogryph with most spells, a Lv74 Jasconius, and a Lv54 Mandocello. Among others. New game in god mode. I didn't even use the bonus stats that often.
It does =3 Well spotted! You have a good eye. Yes what you say is absolutely correct, and I wish I mentioned it earlier. Listen to what "SirManguydude" has said, unless what Ratatosk said to Richter then was some sick joke, he will free him in 1,000 years or else they wouldnt have bothered saying that, and I doubt that's a bad translation. (Like the Abyss Ending).
@robloxfan459 Actually, its: -Don't exit/enter the triet ruins too many times -Don't get hit by lightening (temple of lightening) bout 14 or 15 times -Don't swear to lloyd
Ok pplve been asking how to get this ending, here're the requirements: 1. do NOT swear allegiance to Lloyd in the beginning (i think you don't actually have to do this, but you can't do any other stupid things if you do happen to swear allegiance) 2. Something about not getting hit by lightning more than 12 or 14 times. so don't get hit by lightning in the lightning temple. 3. For the Triet ruins, don't go in and out of there. just don't. once you go in, clear it.
Wow, I giggled at the part where they obtained the titles 'Perfect Partner'. I cried in all three endings. I'm just about to go to the fire temple, so I think I'll stock up before I have to go in. ^^;; And by the way, you just obtained the title: 'Most awesome game uploader.'
wow thats a good point i never actually considered that when i played (on third playthrough now). At the end of normal ending Ratatosk seals door so maybe he opens then closes it again? or maybe the split emil appears on the other side automatically? have fun guessing =)
Richter isnt dead, he will be freed eventually, Ratatosk say's that. And Kratos doesnt die, he is just to far away to communicate with... Sylvarant/Tethe'alla. Being "swallowed up in the vast darkness of space" is just a way of saying that he is lost out there somewhere. And you mean Ratatosk's power because Ratatosk/Emil are together, Ratatosk went with Emil at the end of the game, only his power stayed with Richter. That's why he needs to keep in contact with the Centurion's still.
OH EHM GEE! I got struck by lightning billions of times because my WiiMote just had to run out of battery inside that freakin' temple. I didn't know that a simple battery runout could cause such a dramatic change -.- maaaaan....
The fact being that it adds to most stats, which are, in essence, useless. +2 to A.Atk on Emil is pointless, so is +2 to P.Atk on Marta. Berserker gives a brutal +4 to P.Atk on Emil, and I think Battle Princess gives +3 to A.Atk. Among other stats for both. But those tend to be the most important.
@igotwoodhaha Ratatosk's itty bitty conscience. For the most part Ratatosk pushed his conscience away. So the Ratatosk most everyone knew was the part without a conscience. Since his conscience was not a part of him, Emil is not a part of Ratatosk. :3 Once Ratatosk realizes he has a conscience - he is Emil, or has a conscience. :3 (I heard all this somewhere, but I can't remember where xD )
But Richter isnt gonna die -_- I thought we established that a while ago. Also what you said about Altamira, basically means that Emil knows that he'll have to put up with her loss eventually =o I really should play this game once more.
Actually, those choices only influence wether you can get the cores of fire and lightning, or if Lloyd gets them. If Lloyd gets any cores other than Lumen's, you lose the good ending.
first it depends on the choices you made throughout the game then at the end after you beat richter you let Lloyd and Marta kill you then you win when you fight against yourself
It's a strange case with phantasia. It's not a direct sequel but takes place in the same universe. It's up to the player to consider it a sequel but it's not actually a sequel to the symphonia storyline.
i really almost cry when i watch the credits,i thought the ending was just that,no marta..argh but i am so relieved when i saw the good scene after it haha..YEAHH!!!!
I got this ending when I finish the game and I am glad. Whenever I have a choice I like to be the good guy, the hero. With removing all the mana the summon spirits would vanish right? Well the spirits are still in Tales of Phantasia which comes after this game.
Damn NAMCO for not showing the final- passionate-holy-shit-so-emotive-eye watering-pretty much leading to sex-kiss-Marta x Emil everyone was begging since the beggining of the game! But anyways it made me cry :') It is just one of those games u don't want to end :D
good game, highly impressed with the tales series, actually this is the first one i played, im happy that the first time i beat it and got the good ending which was yesterday. well i got the bad ending first. i realized i screwed up wen i killed off marta. man i shoulda got the pal version. i wanna rewatch all the skits. to those of you who are against piracy, i played it off a copyrighted disk. i hacked my wii to play region free.
Wow, this is in widescreen format. Did you do this or is this just how TH-cam made it? And that's the kind of ending I like seeing. A corny, cheesy happy ending. I hope Emil and Marta have a happy life.
I really wish i got this ending the first time around but... lets see, Ieft the game on in the lightning temple w/ out pausing and got shocked a billion times and was at 1 HP... note to self: pause everytime you leave the room oh well I'll get it the second time
But Richter does not get out now. Because Ratatosk now lives off of his body. So I guess you could say that Richter is dead. Great, we get the deaths of Kratos and Richter in this game...
*cough*he named the tree Yggdrasill*cough* Symphonia has nothing to do with anything in this game at all. Namco has done that with most tales, the tittle means little to nothing about the story in Tales games. Only exception would be Vesperia, cause Brave Vesperia plays a big role in that game... or at least half of the game lol (and maybe Destiny, but the word destiny is kinda obvious to be used in RPGs lol)
The thing is, the player can manipulate "who likes who" in ToS. Also in ToS:DotNW the player can continue to manipulate "who likes who" by their choice of questioning.
its like everyone forgot tht half elves live longer than normal humans... -_- so, he'll most likely (99.9%) still be alive and stuff. or something like tht.
@shadowgirl2100 yeah it's kinda sad for richter :( haha my brother was so pissed when he was defeated by martha en Lloyd, but not that pissed anymore when he realised that actually was supposed to happen. I was saying to him during the fight: stop fighting! don't hurt them xD
@XoIngeborgoX yeah i agree... i almost broke down crying when emil practically stabbed himself and I read marta's note...I was like: that's it? what? nooooo! D': but yeahh..i'm replaying it again [lol, third time] and it's so much fun! ^-^ i feel bad for richter though.... you get the bad ending if you defeat marta and lloyd...and i did just that
Wait can someone explain to me what just happned i'm confused? Did Ratatosk stay behind with the Ginungigup, or did he leave with Emil and just left it to Ritcher and his Centurions? And thanks OMEGA for your videos, since I live in the UK i'm one of the unlucky people that cannot play this game =/ yet.
lol @ everyone saying the ending made them cry...but i can't front, I mean I ain't no punk or nuthin', but the part where emil turns around and says his line when marta's walking out...yeah, i might've felt a tear drop, lol.
Well that's one of the things. If you defeat Lloyd & Marta, you will get the bad ending, NO MATTER WHAT. If you lose purposely or cuz you just kinda stink at the game... you can get either the normal ending or the good ending. To get the good ending, look at my other post on the page. I don't have enough characters to write the requirements. So just look on this pg, i'll comment, but not as a reply, just as a comment.
and uh... lets see... 4. when given the choice to Stop Richter or Stop Marta, Stop Richter. don't let him kill her. 5. Lose against Lloyd and Marta. seriously. lose. seriously. 6. I take back what I said about #1. Just do NOT pledge to Lloyd. don't take the risk. So forget my parenthetical remark. it's BS. I think. I think that's all. Pretty sure anyways. But what the hell's w/ not getting hit by lightning 14 times or more? and the triet ruins one. Those're some dumb requirements lol
To get the good ending, at the start you must not bow before Lloyd the great in triet ruins you cant enter or exit the zone more than 5 times (if lloyd gets the core you did it wrong) and in the temple of lighting you cant get hit by the lightning bolt 15 times (if Lloyd took the core your fine) also must complete most/all the side quests/storys (especially Ricters)

Scenes like this are what make a game really good, really compelling, when I first watched the good ending I was struggling not to cry...
Well, that's part right. You need both Ignus's core and Tonitrus's core. To make sure you get them,
1. Do not swear allegiance to Lloyd.

If you want the normal ending, scratch 1&2 or 3. If you want bad, scratch all of them.
Aww... I love this ending so much (it's kind of like the Tales of the Abyss ending, excpet cuter and less confusing).
the plot and the feeling just makes me want a wii and this game more and more!
its all about skills, Emil wins 2 skills that let him synch 2 base artes and 1 base arte after an arcane arte.
ToS 3 1000 years in the future, Richter is released, new villians new characters descendants of lloyd colette and all the other characters
i also like the fact that the cemetery is in the background during the zoom out.
@pezaroo1234 After the end of the story, you go to what's called a Gald Shop. that music right there at the end is freaking epic
my brother and i have played out this game and i'm so glad that we had the good ending. I propably would'nt have survived the bad or the normal ending because i'm so emotional
What a happy scene! Im glad that there staying together :).
i watched all the endings and i like this one the most. noormal made me sad and bad ending made me cry
then you should have listened when he said that everything except the summon spirits and magic will have no mana.
*sigh* watch the whole ending, this video just shows the parts the normal ending doesn't have. (cause Normal and True Ending are the same thing except that True ending has 2 more scenes)
This ending makes me feel warm inside :).

QQ. I can never forget Ratatosk's voice > ^
I'm so glad that was not how it ended I cried when they would never see each other again
Well during the scene in Altimira Emil tells her that she will be in his heart always. Maybe he'll do the same after she dies.
their whole relationship is so wonderful, especially compared to the first TOS. It never showed Collette and Lloyd like this.
Azure Kite (or Kite in the first .hack games), from the .hack series.
theres a way to know in advance if you will get the good v. normal ending if you lose to lloyd & marta:
if you DONT let lloyd steal ignis's and tonitris's cores- good
if you let him steal one or both- normal
to get ignis's core-

Thank you. LOL(lots of love)
list of stuff:
1. not leaving triet more than 9 times
2.not getting struck by lightning more than 14 times in temp of lightning
3.dont swear allegience to lloyd in beggining
4.push richter.. i think, not sure though
5.lose to mart mart n pet (marta n lloyd)
don't worry, he got blocked. He was just flaming other users practically saying what I already answered... in a bad way... in lots of videos of mine >.>

@CyclopsDragon
I did all 6 of them and ended up with the normal ending. Safe to say...I was crushed.
I agree with that. Though it is very sad =/ I mean that means Emil/Ratatosk will always bear Marta's death while he has to live on.
Lol, it was like you killed the credits screen. That was so funny. It was like *slash* and *glarhg* and then the credits died.
wow...
they finally tell us what game we're playing when we get to the end...
wow...
you have to have every core except for aqua, which marta is holding. lose the fight after the one with richter, then beat the boss after that. check gamefaqs or something. i think its possible for lloyd to keep lumen and ignis's core
this is soo nice :') *tear to my eye*
I got this ending when I completed the game for the first time :)
@robloxfan459 Actually, its:
-Don't exit/enter the triet ruins too many times
-Don't get hit by lightening (temple of lightening) bout 14 or 15 times
-Don't swear to lloyd
this is the best game i ve ever played
Ok pplve been asking how to get this ending, here're the requirements:
1. do NOT swear allegiance to Lloyd in the beginning (i think you don't actually have to do this, but you can't do any other stupid things if you do happen to swear allegiance)

3. For the Triet ruins, don't go in and out of there. just don't. once you go in, clear it.
Ohhh....my insides are all fuzzy...
I just got this ending today, it was so cute ^_^
LOL I've been watching these endings and keeping tabs on the "Fin"Brighter and more divine every time I see lol
Wow, I giggled at the part where they obtained the titles 'Perfect Partner'. I cried in all three endings. I'm just about to go to the fire temple, so I think I'll stock up before I have to go in. ^^;; And by the way, you just obtained the title: 'Most awesome game uploader.'
that so sweet and adorable emil and marta is together again! =')
wow thats a good point i never actually considered that when i played (on third playthrough now).
I wonder if Ratatosk has met Milla Maxwell??? and i do hope for a TOS 3 to see what Lloyd's mom looks like.
I would love to see that as a crossover game
But Richter isnt gonna die -_- I thought we established that a while ago.
Also what you said about Altamira, basically means that Emil knows that he'll have to put up with her loss eventually =o I really should play this game once more.

I kinda hope that they make this into an anime after they finish Tales of Symphonia.
I wish I had a Perfect Partner though...
this ending is touching... =')
good game, highly impressed with the tales series, actually this is the first one i played, im happy that the first time i beat it and got the good ending which was yesterday. well i got the bad ending first. i realized i screwed up wen i killed off marta. man i shoulda got the pal version. i wanna rewatch all the skits. to those of you who are against piracy, i played it off a copyrighted disk. i hacked my wii to play region free.
oh I have no idea, I was wondering why there were choices earlier on in the game. Is it anything to do with stopping Marta instead of Richter?
Wow, this is in widescreen format. Did you do this or is this just how TH-cam made it?
And that's the kind of ending I like seeing. A corny, cheesy happy ending. I hope Emil and Marta have a happy life.

Oh i got this ending i thought it was the normal one xD. Awesome
Richter gone bye bye? from the world? Ratatosk in Richter? No happy ending for Richter? Richter die? -Cries- RICHTERRRRR!
Me too. I think it´s the best of the three endings. =)
I'd be surprised if they didn't.
@shadowgirl2100
yeah it's kinda sad for richter :(
haha my brother was so pissed when he was defeated by martha en Lloyd, but not that pissed anymore when he realised that actually was supposed to happen. I was saying to him during the fight: stop fighting! don't hurt them xD
thanks so much! i missed it because i had dinner so i scene skipped the whole thing. too lazy to kill richter again too -_-
Yeah I get what you mean. They're pretty far away in the timeline. At least they share the same world and common concepts.
So does that mean, Ratatosk is gone, no more "Bad Ass" Emil, aww, I liked him when his eyes turned red, and he owned things. =/ oh well.
@XoIngeborgoX yeah i agree... i almost broke down crying when emil practically stabbed himself and I read marta's note...I was like: that's it? what? nooooo! D':
but yeahh..i'm replaying it again [lol, third time] and it's so much fun! ^-^
i feel bad for richter though....
you get the bad ending if you defeat marta and lloyd...and i did just that
Wait can someone explain to me what just happned i'm confused? Did Ratatosk stay behind with the Ginungigup, or did he leave with Emil and just left it to Ritcher and his Centurions?
And thanks OMEGA for your videos, since I live in the UK i'm one of the unlucky people that cannot play this game =/ yet.
I just noticed something, Ritcher will be stuck in there for 1000 years which is around his full life span.
Wow, he can split himself into too so he can have part of him live a human existence? That's pretty neat.
Or anyone, for that matter
lol @ everyone saying the ending made them cry...but i can't front, I mean I ain't no punk or nuthin', but the part where emil turns around and says his line when marta's walking out...yeah, i might've felt a tear drop, lol.
The colosseum is completely optional
it was fun at the end, i killed loyd 5 times only to have marta bring him back. but then i put the controller down to die.
So just look on this pg, i'll comment, but not as a reply, just as a comment.
alrighty i made sure to memorize that. i want a happy ending!
and uh... lets see...
4. when given the choice to Stop Richter or Stop Marta, Stop Richter. don't let him kill her.
