I have a 4x4 4L80e that I’m adapting to my Toyota HF2A T-case. 80 series Land Cruiser. My question is do you know what the rear VSS does exactly? The Speedo is on the Toyota T-case. I really don’t want to tear down the transmission to install that speed ring if I really don’t have too. Using a LQ4 that’s DBW.
I’m in the exact same boat. But from what I’ve researched and been told is that the ecu needs the two speed sensors to be able to tell the transmission to shift.
If my transmission looks fine fluid wise and no evidence of burnt clutch material. Should I just send it back together with no rebuild after installing this ring?
Isn't there something that has to be done in order to get oil to the rear of the trans when you convert from 4wd to RWD? I was thinking that you were either supposed to install a cup plug before the extension housing was installed or supposed to drill an orifice into an existing cup plug. I can't remember which, and it's entirely possible that I'm just completely wrong and neither is necessary.. You're clicking through these items that are a lot of times, dreaded. You're going to be making some music pretty soon at this pace!!
Yeah the 2wd has the orificed cup plug with bonded O ring to pass fluid into the extension housing and lubricate the yoke bushing. 4wd is a solid plug... Haven't popped it out yet.
Pancakes just the info I was looking for on setting up reverse band Clarence.
In for the build!

@@Boblanow1343 I just got the reluctor ring to press on. The 2nd VSS is important as if the front one. However now I’m gonna be transmission guy.

I'd look at clutches while it's apart.
👍
