It’s SO refreshing to see a great natural looking goldfish tank! Too often their tanks just get overlooked and they end up with tacky bright gravel and ornaments that get covered in algae and just go so yucky!
10/10 for you doing this, they are some happy goldfish!

I know, I know, I'm fretting I want to do this so much, I've only got 29 gallon tanks, but my shubunkins are still *very* small, and tanks are ephemeral, right? They can go back in the pond after a wee bit, I have this NZ schist and gravel and it's sooo pretty, against a blue wall? Sigh

Hi! I am new to the hobby and love watching your videos. Your humor and love for the hobby is great! Maybe because you keep it real and down to earth. Always enjoy watching what you have going on. My son started a 10 gallon tank and went off to college now realizing the fish are crowded. Now we are proud owners of a 30 and 36 gallon tank, but learning that the fish can live better with the appropriate room space. Have to go at a pace for the hubby's head to stay on straight :P I really hope to have a gold fish tank like this and a cichlid tank of which I have been researching as well. Lost my job as a result of Covid, but also was introduced to this wonderful hobby. Also, started using live plants for the first time as well. I hope it goes well.

Looks great. Just one question. How do you clean/hoover the the tank to make sure the bottom is clean without moving everything as it looks like there are lots of little places where rubbish could lodge out of sight and obviously being careful not to siphon out the sand at the same time ? Guessing it's a delicate job. Thanks.

Question bud, how long do you keep your lights on per day? and is 54 inches x 18 inches x 18 inches a good size?

You've managed to sell me on smooth rocks.. I didn't think it was possible. I have this image in my head of the typical classic freshwater river bed tanks from the 60-80's. But this is great! I live in the upper central united states which was covered by glaciers, and before that the west interior seaway (hard water, which is difficult too, lots of limestone from corals). When the glaciers receded they left behind lots of smooth rocks and gravel. Nothing very inspiring like the jagged rocks from the mountainous regions of the states. but now I am looking at the construction sites full of rocks as more of an opportunity then full of boring shapeless rocks.
