The problem is opportunities, investment in the youth, neighborhoods, and programs that bring people housing, and loans for businesses. If people are not allow to thrive in their own neighborhood, by making decisions for the future, own businesses, and and open up opportunities for people to advance...then change is just a bumper sticker and concept that will never come to be seen as a reality. We moved out of Lincoln Park. My wife's parents still live in the area. We lived down the street from Dr. J's Liquor. My wife worried about our family and said she didn't want me or the kids out after 10pm. It's not as bad as it used to be back in the day but its still messed up.
It cleaned up a a lot after the early 90's.

We're Christians so we do a lot of praying and preaching and when we lived there we'd go to where ever there was problems and we'd pray for the people around and see if we could help them with anything. Craziest night was after a shooting at the market up the street on 47th. Like everyone had drama even if not involved in the shooting. Smh. Lol

@ 3:47, Brotha speaking on this Hill at this park. I remember in 75 going to this park in SD, climbing up a hill and it was a huge park. This was my first & only time seeing SD Bloods. (I guess that who they were) Big Country was there and told me to leave. I was high of course and I usually didn't obey when I was ordered to do something but for some reason I did and I never returned to that park again. Actually I didn't go to any park when I lived in SD. Mmm!
We lived on Logan Ave in bunch of apartments, then I move to 3977 National Ave in some more apts near the 39th St Navy Base. Big Country stayed on Logan.
